Chemical contaminants (Chc) can be naturally present and/or be introduced in food and feed as result of the various stages of its production, processing and transport and/or due to environmental contamination. The analysis of Chc laboratory data allows to generate information for continuous improvement of food safety and protection of public health. In order to define priorities for development of the Contaminants Database of the Portuguese Food Information Resource (PortFIR), it was decided to identify and assess the availability and information needs on food and feed Chc of the main Portuguese stakeholders in the area.N/

This research addresses a topic that is much discussed in the media in Portugal nowadays, but is related to a wider issue of communication in organizations: the integration of trainee journalists in the newsrooms. Several authors, such as Sara Meireles Graça, Paulo Faustino and José Luís Garcia, have been addressing the problem of the «hustle» of trainee journalists in the newsrooms and about another very controversial topic, directly related, which is the "slave labour" in journalism (Garcia et. al., 2009, p. 147). We intend to explore these issues, by examining their extension and what’s the interest of the companies in this and other recruitment and organizational integration processes, as well as what the trainees and other stakeholders think about all this. The study will focus on the three generalist TV stations in Portugal. The empirical research was developed in these three tv stations which, safeguarding their particularities, were taken as model organizations for the analysis of integration processes and organizational socialization. We conducted a longitudinal study based on a methodology of a qualitative nature from the point of view, namely, of the responsible of the trainees in the newsrooms and the trainees, who are the main actors in this process. The results point to the existence in some televisions, of curriculum trainees performing functions as if they were professional journalists. About this issue, there are also diverging opinions among the entities that regulate the profession and those which represent the televisions. As for socialization tactics, televisions can form autonomous professionals, despite the existence of some cases of dissatisfaction and disinvestment by trainees

Primary care physicians have been present on the frontline during the ongoing pandemic, adding new tasks to already high workloads. Our aim was to evaluate burnout in primary care physicians during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as associated contributing factors. Cross-sectional study with an online questionnaire disseminated through social media, applying the snowball technique. The target population was primary care physicians working in Portugal during the first outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to sociodemographic data, the questionnaire collected responses to the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI), the Resilience Scale and the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scales (DASS-21). Data were collected from May 9 to June 8, 2020, a period comprising the declaration of a national calamity and then state of emergency, and the subsequent ease of lockdown measures. Levels of burnout in 3 different dimensions (personal, work, and patient-related), resilience, stress, depression, and anxiety were assessed. Logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify factors associated with burnout levels. Results: Among the 214 physician respondents, burnout levels were high in the 3 dimensions. A strong association was found between gender, years of professional experience, depression and anxiety, and burnout levels. Physician burnout in primary care is high and has increased during the pandemic. More studies are needed in the long term to provide a comprehensive assessment of COVID-19’simpact on burnout levels and how to best approach and mitigate it during such unprecedented times.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The new era in Retail: Retail 4.0 centered on the human being and its purchase process

In the face of the new "digital phenomenon", a more human-centric and personal-oriented era is predicted. Brands seek to create an emotional bond with the customer and provide an experience that unifies the online and offline world. It was verified that there is a reinforcement of the strategy established in Retail 3.0, continuing with the implementation of the omnichannel business model, but highlighting the consumer and his preferences. This is a very current subject and one that is still the target of many studies, since it is a recent phenomenon and still in application. So, this article allows us to understand the demands that drove the arrival of marketing and Retail 4.0 and what it entails, but that brings with it a central question: "why brands start their activity on the online channel instead of opting for the traditional channel? " It is therefore necessary to understand whether there is a kind of role reversal as to how some brands present themselves to their customers for the first time. If they begin to implement themselves, first, in the digital world, using it as their point of sale (POS), and only then think of integrating a physical store, or if they choose to unify the channels. It was once notable that brands presented themselves to their customers through a physical store and gradually implemented a multi-channel strategy to follow the change in consumer buying behavior, which over the years demonstrated a strong desire to introduce the new technologies in their day-to-day tasks. Nowadays, the reverse is true, that newly created brands even opt to make themselves known in the digital world, some of which later open a physical store or are implemented in multi-brand stores, while others keep only their point of virtual sales. This brings us to some minor issues: why do most brands nowadays start their activity on the online platform and do not follow the physical store? What is the key to success (for a brand to transition from online to offline)? When does a brand feel ready to move to an omnichanel strategy? What resources do they use to understand if the brand is ready for a new step? The objective would be to perceive this new panorama for the brands and that, in the end, it is possible to obtain a set of criteria that allow them to have a greater orientation on this subject. This work is financed by FEDER funds through the Competitivity Factors Operational Program - COMPETE and by national funds through FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology within the scope of the project POCI-01-0145-FEDER-00713
