    Correlation between parodontal indexes and orthodontic retainers: prospective study in a group of 16 patients

    Purpose. Fixed retainers are used to stabilize dental elements after orthodontic treatment. Being it a permanent treatment, it is necessary to instruct patients about a constant and continuous monitoring of their periodontal conditions and a correct oral hygiene. The aim of this study was to highlight the possible adverse effects of bonded retainers on parameters correlated to the health conditions of periodontal tissues. Materials and methods. We selected 16 patients, under treatment in the Orthodontics Department of University of Bari Dental School, who had undergone a lingual retainer insertion at the end of the orthodontic treatment. The patients were then divided into two groups (Control Group and Study Group) and monitored for 3 and 36 months, respectively. The following indexes were taken into consideration: gingival index (GI), plaque index (PI) and the presence of calculus (Calculus Index, CI), the probing depth and the presence of gingival recession on the six inferior frontal dental elements. Results. After the observation was carried out, any of the patients showed periodontal sockets and gingival recession. In the Study Group, only 1 patient had a PI score=3, the 7 left had scores between 0.66 and 2.83. In the Control Group, one patient had score=0, the other ones showed values between 0.5 and 1.66. The mean GI in the Study Group peaked at a score of 2.83, the minimum was 0.66; whereas in the Control Group the maximum value was 2 and the minimum 0.66. The CI in the Group Study was between 1 and 2. In the Control Group it was absent in only 1 patient, whereas in the remaining 7, it had a value between 0.3 and 1. The clinical data were studied by means of the Wilcoxon test. We found a statistically significant difference for what concerns the Plaque Indexes (PI) (P>0.05) and Calculus Indexes (CI) (P>0.1) in both groups, with higher scores in the Study Group, having retainers for 36 months. Any statistically significant difference was calculated for the GI. Conclusions. We can therefore conclude that patients with lingual retainers need periodontal hygiene and treatment as to prevent, in the course of time, periodontal damages non-detectable in short-term

    Chiral models in dilaton-Maxwell gravity

    We study symmetry properties of the Einstein-Maxwell theory nonminimaly coupled to the dilaton field. We consider a static case with pure electric (magnetic) Maxwell field and show that the resulting system becomes a nonlinear sigma-model wich possesses a chiral representation. We construct the corresponding chiral matrix and establish a representation which is related to the pair of Ernst-like potentials. These potentials are used for separation of the symmetry group into the gauge and nongauge (charging) sectors. New variables, which linearize the action of charging symmetries, are also established; a solution generation technique based on the use of charging symmetries is formulated. This technique is used for generation of the elecricaly (magneticaly) charged dilatonic fields from the static General Relativity ones.Comment: 9 pages in LaTex; published in Gen. Rel.     Quantum interference by two temporally distinguishable pulses

    We report a two-photon interference effect, in which the entangled photon pairs are generated from two laser pulses well-separated in time. In a single pump pulse case, interference effects did not occur in our experimental scheme. However, by introducing a second pump pulse delayed in time, quantum interference was then observed. The visibility of the interference fringes shows dependence on the delay time between two laser pulses. The results are explained in terms of indistinguishability of biphoton amplitudes which originated from two temporally separated laser pulses.Comment: two-column, 4pages, submitted to PRA, minor change

    Employee Performances are become important thing these days. Employee performance is assessed in terms of quality and quantity based on labor standards specified by the organization. Good performance is the optimal performance such as the appropriate performance standards of an organization and support achievement of organizational goals. There are many factors which give effect and influence in creating such a high employee performance. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of Leadership Style, Motivation and Work Discipline towards employee performance developed in Qualitative Method. This research used Qualitative Method , Descriptive Analysis to give a detail explanation about employee performance of Waroeng Charity based on the leadership style, motivation and work discipline as the factors which giving a influence to create a high or low employee performances. To ensure the accuracy of the analysis, this research uses in-depth interview until we get the saturation. The result of this research discovered that three factors are the main consideration for both employee and leader. The leadership style isnt suit enough with the employees, while the motivation & work discipline of the employee is really low. This means Waroeng Charity should reconsider to change the leadership style and focus improving the motivation and discipline by creating training and development.     Community detection by consensus genetic-based algorithm for directed networks

    Finding communities in networks is a commonly used form of network analysis. There is a myriad of community detection algorithms in the literature to perform this task. In spite of that, the number of community detection algorithms in directed networks is much lower than in undirected networks. However, evaluation measures to estimate the quality of communities in undirected networks nowadays have its adaptation to directed networks as, for example, the well-known modularity measure. This paper introduces a genetic-based consensus clustering to detect communities in directed networks with the directed modularity as the fitness function. Consensus strategies involve combining computational models to improve the quality of solutions generated by a single model. The reason behind the development of a consensus strategy relies on the fact that recent studies indicate that the modularity may fail in detecting expected clusterings. Computational experiments with artificial LFR networks show that the proposed method was very competitive in comparison to existing strategies in the literature. (C) 2016 The Authors.     Inverse Scattering Construction of a Dipole Black Ring

    Using the inverse scattering method in six dimensions we construct the dipole black ring of five dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with dilaton coupling a = 2(2/3)^(1/2).The 5d theory can be thought of as the NS sector of low energy string theory in Einstein frame. It can also be obtained by dimensionally reducing six-dimensional vacuum gravity on a circle. Our new approach uses GL(4, R) integrability structure of the theory inherited from six-dimensional vacuum gravity. Our approach is also general enough to potentially generate dipole black objects carrying multiple rotations as well as more exotic multi-horizon configurations

    Charged Free Fermions, Vertex Operators and Classical Theory of Conjugate Nets

    We show that the quantum field theoretical formulation of the Ï„\tau-function theory has a geometrical interpretation within the classical transformation theory of conjugate nets. In particular, we prove that i) the partial charge transformations preserving the neutral sector are Laplace transformations, ii) the basic vertex operators are Levy and adjoint Levy transformations and iii) the diagonal soliton vertex operators generate fundamental transformations. We also show that the bilinear identity for the multicomponent Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchy becomes, through a generalized Miwa map, a bilinear identity for the multidimensional quadrilateral lattice equations.Comment: 28 pages, 3 Postscript figure
