Urban arborization management plan: tool design for efficiency and public safety

The inventory of the urban arborization of Positivo University parking lots in Ecoville Campus was conducted through census criteria, concerning the surroundings conflicts related to tree health, origin and phenology, that were scored and weighted. There were 393 individuals, 12 species and five families where 60% were native to Brazil. The main canopy criteria was the reaching branches on the access road in a proportion of 40%; in the trunk analysis, it was observed lesion (45%) and rot (40%); at the base’s analysis it was verified injury (43%) and root damage (35%) and exposed root (25%). The presence of fruit (26%) was higher than the flowering. Handroanthus albus presented the best result for the criteria, unlike Anadenanthera macrocarpa and Tipuana tipu. The trees showed a landscaping potential, however, the space available for the large size ones was not adequate and the large size species intensified the conflicts, when there was no planning. The species characteristics should be observed, in relation to the three-dimensional space availability. Thus, future conflicts that can be avoided endanger tree health, urban infrastructure and residents which can lead to economic losses. Queer representation incorporated at “Him”, character of “The Powerpuff Girls"

In audiovisual's history, minorities as LGBTQ+ people had been excluded or stereotyped, thus, this study has as a guiding question understanding “Him”, character of the classic cartoon series “The Powerpuff Girls”, produced between 1998 and 2005 by Cartoon Network - by the bias of the Queer Theory, which address the questions about non-heteronormative bodies that belong to marginalized groups whose rights are denied and their lives taken. For this, a documentary and exploratory methodology was used, based on the authors researches like: Guacira Louro, Judith Butler, Edgar Morin, besides the analysis of two episodes: Octil Evil and Bash Birthday. Thus, the problematizations arised here refer to: a) How the Queer is related to Him and its possible problems and b) The dialectic between the bodies discourses accepted and excluded from the heteronormative society.  The argumentation of this research is sustained by homophobia and transphobia brazilian datas, which reveals the urge to approach matters about gender and sexuality representations

As mulheres atingidas por barragens e as contradições do modelo energético na vida das mulheres

This work is the result of a conjunctural and historical need of MAB women: conjunctural for our need to organize women within the MAB strategy, and also a historical task for the participation and liberation of women with the end of the oppression of patriarchy and capitalist system. Another issue is the perception of the tactics and the importance of discussing women and energy within the MAB and the struggles of Via Campesina. The debate is in the conjuncture and we need to respond, make the fight a strong organization fight, and make the confrontation, ensuring the construction of a new energy model. The text also discusses the losses of many people as a result of dam constructions, and points out how many transformations resulting from these projects affect women in a differentiated way, aggravating preexisting gender inequalities - almost always ignored or invisibleEste trabalho é fruto de uma necessidade conjuntural e histórica das mulheres do MAB: conjuntural pela nossa necessidade de organizar as mulheres dentro da estratégia do MAB, e também uma tarefa histórica para a participação e libertação das mulheres com o fim da opressão do patriarcado e o sistema capitalista. Uma outra questão é da percepção da tática e da importância de discutir as mulheres e energia dentro do MAB e nas lutas da Via Campesina. O debate está na conjuntura e precisamos dar resposta, fazer o debate a luta uma organização forte, e fazer o enfrentamento, garantindo a construção de um novo modelo energético. Woody Flora Of Natural Forest Gaps In A Bamboo-dominated Forest Remnant In Southwestern Amazonia

Forest gaps, created by the falling of one or more trees, have been seen as a key factor for the maintenance of local plant diversity in tropical forests. In this study, our goal was to determine the floristic composition of woody plants colonizing natural gaps and in the understory of an open, bamboo-dominated (Guadua weberbaueri Pilg.) forest in southwestern Amazonia, Acre, Brazil. We sampled and identified woody plants (≥1 m tall and DBH ≤10 cm) in 20 forest gaps and nine adjacent understories. In total, 1656 plants were identified in 159 species, 116 genera and 45 families. A list of species was created, containing habitat, habit, functional group, threat status (Brazilian Flora Red List) and abundance data for each species. © 2016 Check List and Authors.12

Acquired pes cavus in Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease

As neuropatias sensitivomotoras hereditárias, principalmente a doença de Charcot-Marie-Tooth, manifestam-se frequentemente com o aparecimento de pé cavovaro, deformidade caracterizada pela acentuação fixa do arco plantar e inversão do retropé. O diagnóstico da doença de base e a cuidadosa avaliação do paciente fornecem os elementos-chave para decisão do tratamento. O cavo pode situar-se no antepé, retropé ou ser o resultado da associação das duas localizações. Deformidades combinadas, principalmente varismo e garras dos artelhos, devem ser bem avaliadas; as características clínicas como grau das alterações, acometimento da força muscular, flexibilidade e idade são fatores importantes para a decisão da conduta. O tratamento conservador do pé cavovaro por meio de fisioterapia, palmilhas e adaptação nos calçados é reservado ao paciente mais jovem ou casos levemente acometidos. Entretanto, há tendência de agravamento das deformidades devido à característica progressiva da doença neurológica de base. Assim, o tratamento cirúrgico pelas técnicas clássicas é indicado precocemente, sendo importante identificar as alterações primárias, diferenciá-las das secundárias e corrigi-las, se possível. As transferências musculares são usadas no sentido de minimizar o desequilíbrio, estruturas retraídas são seccionadas ou alongadas e osteotomias localizadas devem ser preferíveis às artrodeses, que são reservadas para pés rígidos e muito deformados de pacientes adultos.Hereditary motor and sensory neuropathies, especially Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, are frequently expressed with an acquired cavusvarus foot which is characterized by a fixed increase of the plantar arch and hindfoot inversion. Diagnosis of the underlying condition achieved through careful patient assessment and local evaluations is the keystone for decision-making about the adequate treatment. The cavus may present as an isolated deformity of the forefoot, hindfoot or it may be a combination of both locations. Related deformities, mainly the varus and toe clawing require appropriate evaluation; clinical characteristics such as severity of the deformity, impairment of the muscular power, flexibility and patient's age are important characteristics in the treatment decision. Conservative treatment of the cavusvarus foot with physiotherapy, insoles and shoe modifications are reserved to young patients and mild deformities. However, there is a tendency of the deformity to become more severe over time because of the progressive feature of the underlying neurological condition. So, the surgical treatment by using classical techniques is performed in early stages. Most importantly is the identification of the primary and main components of each deformity to properly correct them, if possible. Muscular transfers are used to treat the dynamic unbalance, retracted structures should be either divided or lengthened and localized osteotomies should be preferred over arthrodeses, which are reserved for stiff and severely deformed feet in adults

Congenital Clubfoot

Embora o pé torto congênito seja uma das deformidades congênitas mais comuns dos membros inferiores, ainda há controvérsias com relação à etiologia e ao tratamento. Apesar da frequência relativamente alta, o tratamento é desafiador, pois objetiva a obter um pé funcional, flexível, plantígrado e indolor, com resultados permanentes. O método de Ponseti destaca-se por propiciar resultados mais satisfatórios e diminuir a necessidade de cirurgias. Entretanto, o tratamento cirúrgico deve ser indicado após falha do tratamento conservador adequadamente realizado. A tendência atual consiste em evitar as extensas liberações cirúrgicas e, quando houver necessidade de cirurgia, preconizam-se correções localizadas, também conhecidas por liberações "à la carte". A perspectiva futura fundamenta-se em conhecer resultados de tratamento a longo prazo e novos conhecimentos sobre a etiologia do pé torto congênito, especialmente do ponto de vista genético, que poderão, eventualmente, auxiliar na determinação do prognóstico e até no tratamento. Nível de Evidência: Nível II, revisão sistemática.The clubfoot is one of the most common congenital deformities affecting the lower limbs, it still presents controversial aspects regarding etiology and treatment. In spite of its relatively high frequency, the treatment is still challenging, since the long-term aim is achieving an everlasting flexible, plantigrade, pain-free and totally functional foot. The Ponseti method has gained attention and popularity because of its satisfactory results and surgery avoidance. Presently, surgical treatment is indicated only after failure of conservative methods, avoiding extensive soft-tissue release, but performing localized corrections of the deformities, a technique also know as "a la carte" release. The future perspective is based on the knowledge about long-term results and new understanding of the clubfoot etiology, especially in the genetic field, which may eventually be helpful for prognostic and treatment. Brazil: recent corporate governance advancements and retreats

This article overviews recent developments and set backs in the regulation and selfregulation of Brazilian corporate governance. Ownership transitioned from concentrated control dominance to a mixed pattern of a substantial minority of companies with shared control under shareholder agreements and a few dispersed ownership companies. Recent statistics suggest a reversal in this trend with the increase in concentrated control companies. Companies that once embraced premium trading lists that required better corporate governance practices resisted a tightening of this self-regulation and some successfully and lawfully did not comply with new compensation disclosure regulation. Many companies have gone back private. Institutional investors, in general, did not show an effective contribution to corporate governance improvement in their investees and the largest ones face serious internal conflict of interest issues.Este artigo examina avanços e recuos recentes na regulamentação e auto-regulação das práticas de governança corporativa no Brasil. Os direitos de propriedade passaram da dominância do controle concentrado para um padrão misto com uma minoria substancial de companhias com controle compartilhado sob um acordo de acionistas e algumas empresas com propriedade dispersa. Estatísticas recentes sugerem uma reversão dessa tendência com o aumento de companhias com controle concentrado. Empresas que um dia abraçaram os segmentos de listagem prêmio que exigiam melhores práticas de governança corporativa resistiram a um robustecimento desta auto-regulação e algumas não cumpriram as novas regras de transparência acerca da remuneração com sucesso e respaldo legal. Muitas companhias fecharam o capital. Os investidores institucionais, em geral, não contribuíram efetivamente para a melhoria da governança corporativa nas firmas em que investem e os maiores enfrentam sérios problemas internos de conflitos de interesse

Influencia da preparação da superficie na aderencia de revestimentos de aluminio depositados por aspersão termica a chama

Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro TecnologicoÉ analisada a influência da preparação da superfície de aço carbono com graus A e C de corrosão na aderência de camadas de alumínio depositadas por aspersão térmica a chama. Desgaste, contaminação e possibilidade de reutilização de dois abrasivos a base de óxido de alumínio em duas granulometrias são discutidos diante de rugosidade, impregnação e textura atingidas em quatro operações controladas de jateamento. A possibilidade de reutilização dos abrasivos foi verificada através de ensaios de aderência por tração das camadas depositadas. O efeito positivo do preaquecimento do substrato a 120 °C, 250 °C e do tratamento térmico a 400 °C é avaliado por ensaios de aderência por tração e dobramento

SGBD de alta escalabilidade com suporte a dados georreferenciados

Trabalho Final de Mestrado para obtenção do grau de Mestre em Engenharia Informática e de ComputadoresO desenvolvimento exponencial da tecnologia proporcionou a disponibilidade da mesma a toda e qualquer pessoa que tenha a possibilidade de a adquirir. A internet será provavelmente o melhor exemplo disso pois actualmente todas as pessoas que têm à sua disposição um smartphone têm acesso à internet. Com esta disponibilidade, que se tornou mundial, emergiu o conceito de rede social. Uma rede social é essencialmenteuma comunidade de pessoas, ligadas entre si ou não, com um interesse comum e que utilizam uma determinada tecnologia para comunicar entre si com o objectivo de partilhar informação e/ou recursos. Hoje em dia existem diversos tipos de redes sociais, sejam elas orientadas à partilha de informação empresarial, por exemplo Linkedin, ou orientadas à partilha de informação pessoal e comercial, por exemplo Facebook. No entanto, existem também redes sociais orientadas à partilha de informação georreferenciada, ou seja, informação associada a uma determinada coordenada geográfica (latitude e longitude). A informação associada a essa coordenada poderá ser algo tão simples como a entrada em determinado local, por exemplo a entrada num restaurante. Actualmente a rede social que melhor representa este conceito é o Foursquare. Uma das partes mais importantes, e potencialmente problemática caso não exista uma boa arquitectura, de um sistema deste género é o SGBD pois sendo o mesmo virado para a partilha de informação existe grande volume de dados em circulação uma vez que é necessário não só armazená-los como disponibilizá-los. No decorrer deste projecto foram estudadas várias tecnologias, open source e próprias (proprietary), de forma a responder aos requisitos de uma rede social orientada à partilha de informação georreferenciada. Para as tecnologias que respondem a esses requisitos foram implementados protótipos funcionais de forma a estudar e testar as mesmas quanto a desempenhos de escrita e leitura num ambiente distribuído(Sharding). Os testes efectuados são constituídos por um elevado número de escritas e leituras, utilizando dados e interrogações geoespaciais, de forma a testar o desempenho de cada uma das tecnologias face aos requisitos de uma rede social.Abstract: The exponential evolution of technology has allowed each and everyone, wh o's able to acquire it, an easy access to it. Internet is most likely the best example of it because nowadays anyone who has a smartphone can use it. With this global availability emerged the concept of social network. A social network is, in its essence, a community of people connected, or not, between themselves that share common interests and that use some sort of technology to communicate between themselves with the goal of sharing information and/or resources. Nowadays there are many types of social networks, being enterprise oriented, e.g. Linkedin, or personal and commercial, e.g. Facebook. However, there are also social networks that share georeference information, i.e. information that’s related to geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude). The associated information might be something as simple as checking in at someplace, i.e. checking in at a restaurant. The best example of this kind of social network is Foursquare. One of the most important parts, and possibly troublesome if there's not a good architecture, of a system like this is the DBMS because being oriented to sharing georeferenced information there's a big volume of data to store and make available. To answer the requisites of a social network oriented to georeferenced information, several open source and proprietary technologies were studied. Functional prototypes were implemented, for the technologies that answer those requisites, in order to study and test their performance of writes and reads on a sharded environment. The prototypes were tested on consecutive and concurrent writing and reading, using geospacial data and queries, in order to test the performance of each technology that fulfils the requirements of a social network
