“Choose it, and remember it”: the impact of choice on destination memory

Destination memory can be defined as the capacity to remember to whom we transmit information. It is measured through the accuracy of retrieving the association between the information we transmit and the person to whom we transmit it. A destination memory procedure aims to emulate human interaction by sharing facts with celebrities (i.e., familiar faces) since we often communicate with people we know. However, the role of the choice about who we intend to transmit the information to has not been evaluated before. This paper investigated whether deciding with whom to share a piece of information benefits destination memory. We designed two experiments with different levels of cognitive load, increasing it from Experiment 1 to Experiment 2. The experiments included two conditions: the choice condition, in which participants chose from two options to whom they desired to share a fact, and the no-choice condition, in which participants simply shared facts with celebrities without the possibility of a choice. Experiment 1 suggested that a choice component did not affect destination memory. However, when in Experiment 2 we raised the cognitive load by increasing the number of stimuli, we found that selecting the recipient during the more challenging task provided an advantage in destination memory. This result is congruent with the explanation that the shift of the participants' attentional resources to the recipient, caused by the choice component, leads to a destination memory improvement. In sum, it seems that a choice component can improve destination memory only under demanding attentional conditions.FCT -Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia(PD/BD/142817/2018

The main objective of the following study is to find out the existence of a relationship between personality traits and IQ of the Army Professional Troop Trainees (AMTP) and their performance during their military training at the Troop Training Center No. 2 (CEFOT-2) San Fernando (Cádiz), which lasts 5 months. The data collected belong to a sample of 705 AMPT both men and women aged from 18 to 29 years old who entered the CEFOT-2. When carrying out the study, the Inventory of Personality Defense (IPD) and Cattell's "g" Factor Test were administered during the first weeks after the group’s incorporation to the Center. When measuring performance, the final weighted grades related to the various modules of the two phases of military training were taken into account. A statistically significant relationship was found between performance and a high IQ score. As for personality traits, performance in the specific training phase correlates significantly and negatively with Neuroticism and Depression traits. Therefore, a higher performance is related to a lower level of Neuroticism and Depression. It is expected that this study will open future lines of investigation revolving around this population so as to obtain a successful and efficient military training of our future Army Soldiers.Máster Universitario en Formación del Profesorado de ESO, Bachillerato, Formación Profesional y Enseñanza de Idiomas. The dancers are a risk group for ideal physical characteristics and aspiration of “dominating her body" turning the body into a working tool and a midst of artistic expression. Objetive: To analyze the degree of body dissatisfaction and possible conditions associated behaviors in adolescent and young girls, comparing three groups: students (general population), dancer students and girls diagnosed with ED. Methods: We administered the Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ ) to 566 female students: 247 of the general population, 175 were professional dancer students and 143 with a ED diagnosis. Descriptive and comparative analyses were performed. Results and conclusions: The concern for the body image was moderate to extreme in 19.8% - 6.1% of the general population students and 17.7% - 9.7% in dancers. In the dance students, concern and dissatisfaction with their own body image can be increased reaching a clinically significant degree of concern, but are not derived from a high BMI
