How open are journalists on Twitter? Trends towards the end-user journalism

The many activities of journalists on Twitter should be analyzed. Are they doing a different kind of journalism? With a content analysis of 1125 tweets, this study reveals trends of some Spanish journalists using Twitter. A traditional role like gatekeeping can be highly amplified in terms of transparency and accountability with actions as retweeting or linking. The landscape offered by this platform is framed with the "ambient journalism", which will help to understand the proposal of this study: the end-user journalism. The findings will show the level of opening with the audience in aspects about replies, requests and linking

Transformation From CIM to PIM: A Systematic Mapping

Model Driven Architecture (MDA) is the most prominent and accepted methodology based on the Model Driven Development (MDD) principles. MDA includes three abstraction levels: Computer Independent Models (CIM), Platform Independent models (PIM) and Platform speci c models (PSM). MDA encourages the automatic transformation of models as a means to increase the speed of the software development process and to prevent human errors. There are plenty of solutions to transform PIMs to PSMs, however the CIM to PIM transformation does not receive a similar attention. In that sense, this paper aims to describe a systematic mapping to analyze the main characteristics of the approaches that deal with the CIM to PIM transformation as well as to discuss research directions stemming out from our analysis. The results of this mapping study could be a valuable information source for the scienti c community in order to know the real advances in this topic and to avoid unnecessary effort dealing with problems that have already been addressed. For example, this study yielded the models at the CIM level that have already been transformed into models at the PIM level. Hence, with this information, the researchers could focus their attention on nding solutions to transform those models at CIM level that have not been transformed into models at PIM level. Likewise, this mapping study provides information regarding the technological support of this type of transformation. Una década de Responsabilidad social universitaria en Iberoamérica

Los procesos por los cuales instituciones de educación superior en Latinoamérica y España están formulando marcos conceptuales y metodologías de responsabilidad social universitaria (RSU), transcurren en la primera década del siglo XXI en convergencia con las tendencias de encuentro entre sector privado, social y público, en los cuales la universidad tiene un papel relevante al formar a la mayoría de personas que trabajan y ocupan cargos de responsabilidad en la gestión de la sociedad. En este artículo se realiza una aproximación a algunas iniciativas de universidades iberoamericanas que han emprendido pasos para analizar su responsabilidad social, desarrollando medidas que permitan conocer su actuar y se concluye con reflexiones acerca de desarrollos que desde la educación superior podrían plantearse. Estudio de variables de responsabilidad social universitaria

El estudio de la Responsabilidad Social Universitaria (RSU) implica la investigación sobre las variables psicológicas que intervienen en la adquisición y desarrollo de comportamientos socialmente responsables por parte del alumnado, como finalidad de la educación superior de formar a personas responsables, procurando que la educación cívica en la juventud universitaria tenga un impacto en las futuras generaciones de profesionales. Este estudio ha identificado como variables psicológicas en las cuales tener presente el impacto de la formación universitaria, los valores humanos, según adquieran orientación a la auto-promoción o a la auto-trascendencia, y el efecto de la empatía como mediadora de la capacidad de auto-regular emociones y cogniciones sobre la relación entre uno mismo y la sociedad. Se considera que la educación universitaria, para ser socialmente responsable, debe tener un papel importante en proporcionar al alumnado orientaciones de valor, y herramientas psicológicas clave para llevar a cabo comportamientos responsables en su desarrollo personal y profesional. El ámbito de estudio se realiza en 3 países, España, Perú y Colombia, dado que se considera necesario validar metodologías que puedan ser aplicadas en diferentes países y modelos universitarios; más aun, teniendo presentes las políticas existentes para la creación de un Espacio Iberoamericano de Conocimiento, que sea socialmente responsable. La metodología innovadora para desarrollar esta investigación parte del uso de una plataforma virtual, facilitando la administración de cuestionarios a alumnado de diferentes universidades. Citizen Journalism, the case of Virginia Tech

La democratización de los procesos de acceso, producción y difusión de información en la Red ha propiciado un nuevo escenario mediático. Dicho entorno está caracterizado por la aparición de los denominados «periodistas ciudadanos», aquellas personas que mediante sus testimonios o creaciones de diversa índole elaboran un material de un alto valor informativo, detectado, seleccionado y editado cada vez más por las cabeceras tradicionales, que progresivamente aumentan su atención hacia materiales informativos creados por la denominada «web 2.0». Aquellos medios protagonizados por usuarios (foros, chats, blogs, wikis, videologs, fotologs…), los llamados «medios sociales», están generando su propia agenda mediática hasta el punto de condicionar cada vez con mayor fuerza y frecuencia la agenda de los medios profesionales. En el presente estudio se analizan estos procesos en un caso particular y tan signifi cativo como la masacre en Virginia Tech.The revolution in communications technology has created a highly competitive environment for those who provide news and information to the public. Th e new mass media landscape is characterized by the appearance of «citizen journalists», people who gather information by using cell phones, digital cameras, and blogs to get out word of what they’ve witnessed or heard; peopled that have creating the concept of »Web 2.0». By using digital technologies they can also become news producers and cover a story in ways that mainstream journalists don’t. It is in this sense that conventional media have started to take advantage of the work of citizen journalist so quickly and prominently. Our goal as it is to analyze how citizens covered the Virginia Tech shooting by creating new stories of common interest and determining the media agenda.Ciencias de la Comunicació

Responsabilidad social en la educación básica y superior: Una perspectiva desde el espacio iberoamericano.

Resumen El artículo presenta una revisión acerca de la educación básica y superior en materia de responsabilidad social en los países iberoamericanos, con el fin de obtener una aproximación al estado del arte. Teniendo en cuenta este objetivo se realiza un breve estudio exploratorio sobre los documentos de política de educación de organismos multilaterales como la UNESCO y la Organización de los países iberoamericanos. El documento destaca que después de los discursos, la educación debe aterrizar las habilidades, entre otras, las relacionadas con ejercer una ciudadanía responsable, y se ofrece una fundamentación desde la psicología. En el documento se hace referencia a algunas experiencias en las que la enseñanza y la evaluación de la educación ciudadana son compatibles. En la conclusión, se argumenta la conveniencia de establecer una política de evaluación internacional de la educación en valores de responsabilidad social para el ejercicio de la ciudadanía durante todo el proceso formativo. Abstract Abstract. The paper offers a review about basic and higher education on social responsibility in Ibero-American countries, in order to get an approach to the state of the art. Considering this objective is done a brief exploratory study over education policy documents from multilateral agencies such as UNESCO and the Organization of Ibero-American countries. The paper highlights that after the discourses, education must land skills, between others, those related to exercise responsible citizenship, and its presented a psychological fundamentation. The paper refers and discusses some experiences in education and evaluation of citizenship education is supported. In the conclusion is argued the suitability of establishing a policy of international assessment of education in values of social responsibility for the exercise of citizenship all over the education process

Transforming moroccan adobe Kasbahs into a network of sustainable hotels

The valleys of Southern Morocco are territorial corridors that are extremely rich in landscape and cultural terms but very fragile socially and economically. The 1000 kasbahs and ksars punctuating the length of the valleys have been the links in the chain providing a structure for these regions over the last three centuries. Their imposing presence means they have come to be seen as inseparable elements of the landscape and symbols of the region's identity. The abandonment and rapid deterioration of these rammed-earth constructions demonstrates the risk that this heritage could be lost right across the region. The proposal is to recover and restore some of these kasbahs to create a network of hotels which would also function as centres for the cultural interpretation of the region. The aim is to give the kasbahs back their role as structural elements for the territory, converting them into change agents for its economy and culture while simultaneously recovering their architectural heritage and landscape value.Peer Reviewe
