    Private Computation: k-Connected versus 1-Connected Networks

    We study the role of connectivity of communication networks in private computations under information theoretical settings in the honest-but-curious model. We show that some functions can be 1-privately computed even if the underlying network is 1-connected but not 2-connected. Then we give a complete characterisation of non-degenerate functions that can be 1-privately computed on non-2-connected networks. Furthermore, we present a technique for simulating 1-private protocols that work on arbitrary (complete) networks on k-connected networks. For this simulation, at most (1k/(n1))L(1 - k/(n - 1)) \cdot L additional random bits are needed, where L is the number of bits exchanged in the original protocol and n is the number of players. Finally, we give matching lower and upper bounds for the number of random bits needed to compute the parity function on k-connected networks 1-privately, namely (n2)/(k1)1\lceil (n - 2)/(k - 1) \rceil - 1 random bits for networks consisting of n player

    Analysing the evolution of computer science events leveraging a scholarly knowledge graph: a scientometrics study of top-ranked events in the past decade

    The publish or perish culture of scholarly communication results in quality and relevance to be are subordinate to quantity. Scientific events such as conferences play an important role in scholarly communication and knowledge exchange. Researchers in many fields, such as computer science, often need to search for events to publish their research results, establish connections for collaborations with other researchers and stay up to date with recent works. Researchers need to have a meta-research understanding of the quality of scientific events to publish in high-quality venues. However, there are many diverse and complex criteria to be explored for the evaluation of events. Thus, finding events with quality-related criteria becomes a time-consuming task for researchers and often results in an experience-based subjective evaluation. OpenResearch.org is a crowd-sourcing platform that provides features to explore previous and upcoming events of computer science, based on a knowledge graph. In this paper, we devise an ontology representing scientific events metadata. Furthermore, we introduce an analytical study of the evolution of Computer Science events leveraging the OpenResearch.org knowledge graph. We identify common characteristics of these events, formalize them, and combine them as a group of metrics. These metrics can be used by potential authors to identify high-quality events. On top of the improved ontology, we analyzed the metadata of renowned conferences in various computer science communities, such as VLDB, ISWC, ESWC, WIMS, and SEMANTiCS, in order to inspect their potential as event metrics

    Schema Evolution and Reproducibility of Long-term Hydrographic Data Sets at the IOW

    National and international exploration of the Baltic Sea ecosystem can be traced back to the 19th century. In its quite long history, the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW) is the only research institution in Germany that has made interdisciplinary research of the Baltic Sea its central mission. The IOW hosts data from more than 130 years of research work. Using the example of hydrographic datasets that have been created over a period of about 50 years, this paper examines changes in the data and the associated schemes that have resulted from the continuous development and refinement of measurement methods over time. The paper focuses on the schema development operators: What kind of schema development has taken places over the years, and what are the important basic schema development operators that can be identified? It classifies well-known schema evolution operators which can be expressed as schema mappings, and defines two new operators for merging and splitting attributes, up to now not considered in other research works. These operators have proven to be essential for development of a new universal schema for the central oceanographic database on the IOW – the IOWDB

    Interleukin-23 receptor expressing γδ T cells locally promote early atherosclerotic lesion formation and plaque necrosis in mice

    Aims Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the vessel wall controlled by local and systemic immune responses. The role of interleukin-23 receptor (IL-23R), expressed in adaptive immune cells (mainly T-helper 17 cells) and gamma delta T cells, in atherosclerosis is only incompletely understood. Here, we investigated the vascular cell types expressing IL-23R and addressed the function of IL-23R and gamma delta T cells in atherosclerosis. Methods and results IL-23R(+) cells were frequently found in the aortic root in contrast to the aorta in low-density lipoprotein receptor deficient IL-23R reporter mice (Ldlr(-/-)Il23r(gfp/+)), and mostly identified as gamma delta T cells that express IL-17 and GM-CSF. scRNA-seq confirmed gamma delta T cells as the main cell type expressing Il23r and Il17a in the aorta. Ldlr(-)(/)(-)Il23r(gfp/gfp) mice deficient in IL-23R showed a loss of IL-23R(+) cells in the vasculature, and had reduced atherosclerotic lesion formation in the aortic root compared to Ldlr(-/-) controls after 6 weeks of high-fat diet feeding. In contrast, Ldlr(-/-)Tcr delta(-/-) mice lacking all gamma delta T cells displayed unaltered early atherosclerotic lesion formation compared to Ldlr(-)(/-) mice. In both HFD-fed Ldlr(-/-)Il23r(gfp/gfp) and Ldlr(-/-)Tcr delta(-/-) mice a reduction in the plaque necrotic core area was noted as well as an expansion of splenic regulatory T cells. In vitro, exposure of bone marrow-derived macrophages to both IL-17A and GM-CSF induced cell necrosis, and necroptotic RIP3K and MLKL expression, as well as inflammatory mediators. Conclusions IL-23R(+) gamma delta T cells are predominantly found in the aortic root rather than the aorta and promote early atherosclerotic lesion formation, plaque necrosis, and inflammation at this site. Targeting IL-23R may thus be explored as a therapeutic approach to mitigate atherosclerotic lesion development

    Die vorliegende Studie untersucht, aufgrund umfangreicher Erfahrungen aus Praxistests, welche Energie in kWh/km bisher gebaute Elektrofahrzeuge mit unterschiedlichen Batterien bei unterschiedlichen Tagesfahrleistungen verbrauchen. Die für die Ladung der Traktionsbatterien notwendigen "Stromtankstellen", unterteilt in Haupt- und Nachladestellen, können auf der Basis der vorhandenen Technik installiert werden, wobei Normungen durchgeführt und Genehmigungsverfahren vereinfacht werden sollten. Hauptladestellen werden hauptsächlich Steckdosen in Garagen und privaten Parkanlagen sein, die mit geringen Kosten installierbar sind. Durch den Ersatz von Fahrzeugen mit konventionellem Otto- und Dieselantrieb durch Elektrofahrzeuge läßt sich der verkehrsbedingte CO2-Ausstoß mindern, wenn die CO2-Emissionen bei der Bereitstellung des elektrischen Stroms geringer sind als die mit der Nutzung fossiler Treibstoffe verbundenen Emissionen. Eine Minderung der CO2-Emissionen bei der Stromemerzeugung kann insbesondere durch die Nutzung von CO2-freien Energieträgern erreicht werden. Das Forschungsvorhaben zeigt, daß Elektrofahrzeuge kaufbar sind, die Infrastruktur für ihre Energieversorgung mit der heutigen Technik geschaffen und die Energie für 2 Mio. Elektrofahrzeuge von dem heutigen Kraftwerkspark - vor allem während der Nacht - zur Verfügung gestellt werden kann
