    A New Technique to Fingerprint Recognition Based on Partial Window

    Fingerprint verification is a well-researched problem, and automatic fingerprint verification techniques have been successfully adapted to both civilian and forensic applications for many years. This paper present a new technique to fingerprint recognition based a window that contain  core point this window will be input ANN system to be model we can recognize another fingerprint , so we will firstly,  A recognition algorithm needs to recover fingerprints pose transformation between the input reduce time computation. Our detection algorithm works in the field orientation of the adaptive smoothed with a varying area. The adaptive window is used to attenuate the noise effectively orientation field while maintaining the information of the detailed guidance in the area of ??high curvature. A new approach to the core point location that is proposed is based on hierarchical analysis orientation consistency. The proposed adaptation singular point detection method increases the accuracy of the algorithm. Experiments show that our algorithm developed consistently locates a reference point with high precision only for all fingerprints. And very faster for recognition process.     Plant Diversity Patterns Along Altitudinal Gradient in Understory Communities of Darkesh Region, Bojnord, Iran

    The ecotone region of Darkesh with an area of 22,500 hectares is located in the Irano-Turanian xeric-continental bioclimatic zone of Khorassan-Kopet Dagh. To investigate the plant diversity patterns of understory communities along three elevation classes of 1100-1600, 1600-2100, and 2100-2600 m, 187 plots were sampled randomly and abundance and cover of species were recorded using 4-m2 plots. Beta diversity and Hill indices were calculated by using R and PAST software. A total of 252 species were recorded including 31 perennial grasses. The most abundant grasses were Poa nemoralis, Poa bulbosa, Bromus sterilis, Brachypodium sylvaticum, and Dactylis glomerata subsp. glomerata. Poa nemoralis was an important dominant grass under Quercus community. From the standpoint of species richness, Hill indices were highest under woods stories along the elevation of 1100-1600 m. Understories of oak forest and alpine communities had almost the same indices and were in the second rank compared to woods communities. Based on the β diversity index, the wood understory had the highest indices followed by Quercus and alpine communities. By increasing the elevations, the diversity of understory communities also decreased

    The Comment's author argues that a correct description of reactive systems should incorporate the explicit interaction with reservoirs, leading to a unified system-reservoirs entity. However, this proposition has two major flaws. Firstly, as we will emphasize, this entity inherently follows a thermodynamic equilibrium distribution. In the Comment, no indication is provided on how to maintain such a system-reservoirs entity in a non-equilibrium state. Secondly, contrary to the author's claim, the inclusion of system-reservoir interaction in traditional stochastic modeling of reactive systems does not automatically alter the limited applicability of path thermodynamics to problematic reactive systems. We will provide a simple demonstration to illustrate that certain elementary reactions may not involve any changes in reservoir components, which seems to have been overlooked by the author.Comment: To appear in Physical Review

    Support vector machine for simultaneous determination of ultra trace concentrations of copper and cadmium in serum of patients with chronic hepatitis by adsorptive stripping voltammetry

    The purpose of this study is to establish a simple model and use the clinical data to predict the interferon efficacy. This model is a combination of Feature Subset Selection and the Classifier using a Support Vector Machine (SVM). The study indicates that when five features have been selected, the identification by the SVM is as follows: the identification rate for the effective group is 85%, and the ineffective group 83%.Serum trace elements concentrations and their ratios are frequently reported to be a good marker for diagnosing various diseases; one of these diseases is chronic liver diseases.  This study undertaken to simultaneous determine of Cu2+, and Cd2+ concentrations in sera from viral hepatitis (B and C) patients by adsorptive stripping voltammetry using 3-aminophthalhydrazide (luminol) as a complex agent and classification with support vector machine SVM. Donor's hepatitis patients and healthy persons were selected from different environmental areas, including Arar, Al-auiqilh and Rafha as unpolluted areas, and Al-Jouf , Tarif and Al- Qurayyat as a polluted areas. Hepatitis patients from polluted areas exhibited higher Cu2+ and Cd2+concentrations in their serum than those from the other areas. Patients with hepatitis B show higher levels of Cu2+, and Cd2+ in their serum than those with hepatitis C. Copper and cadmium presented at higher level in patient serum than in healthy ones. In this study the optimum reaction parameters and conditions studies are investigated. The calibration graphs were linear in the concentration range of 0.3– 142.5 and 0.065–60.0 ng/mL for copper and cadmium, respectively. The limit of detection of the method was 0.038ng/mL for Cu2+ and 0.013 ng/mL for Cd2+. The interference of some common ions was studied and it was concluded that application of this method for the determination of Cu2+ and Cd2+in the healthy control and hepatitis patient's serum led to satisfactory results.     White Lines and 3d-Occupancy for the 3d Transition-Metal Oxides

    Electron energy-loss spectrometry was employed to measure the white lines at the L23 absorption edges of the 3d transition-metal oxides and lithium transition-metal oxides. The white-line ratio (L3/L2) was found to increase between d^0 and d^5 and decrease between d^5 and d^10, consistent with previous results for the transition metals and their oxides. The intensities of the white lines, normalized to the post-edge background, are linear for the 3d transition-metal oxides and lithium transition-metal oxides. An empirical correlation between normalized white-line intensity and 3d occupancy is established. It provides a method for measuring changes in the 3d-state occupancy. As an example, this empirical relationship is used to measure changes in the transition-metal valences of Li_{1-x}Ni_{0.8}Co_{0.2}O_2 in the range of 0 < x < 0.64. In these experiments the 3d occupancy of the nickel ion decreased upon lithium deintercalation, while the cobalt valence remained constant.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figure

    Galectin-9 Regulates Monosodium Urate Crystal-Induced Gouty Inflammation Through the Modulation of Treg/Th17 Ratio

    Gout is caused by depositing monosodium urate (MSU) crystals within the articular area. The infiltration of neutrophils and monocytes drives the initial inflammatory response followed by lymphocytes. Interestingly, emerging evidence supports the view that in situ imbalance of T helper 17 cells (Th17)/regulatory T cells (Treg) impacts the subsequent damage to target tissues. Galectin-9 (Gal-9) is a modulator of innate and adaptive immunity with both pro- and anti-inflammatory functions, dependent upon its expression and cellular location. However, the specific cellular and molecular mechanisms by which Gal-9 modulates the inflammatory response in the onset and progression of gouty arthritis has yet to be elucidated. In this study, we sought to comprehensively characterise the functional role of exogenous Gal-9 in an in vivo model of MSU crystal-induced gouty inflammation by monitoring in situ neutrophils, monocytes and Th17/Treg recruited phenotypes and related cyto-chemokines profile. Treatment with Gal-9 revealed a dose-dependent reduction in joint inflammation scores, knee joint oedema and expression of different pro-inflammatory cyto-chemokines. Furthermore, flow cytometry analysis highlighted a significant modulation of infiltrating inflammatory monocytes (CD11b+/CD115+/LY6-Chi) and Th17 (CD4+/IL-17+)/Treg (CD4+/CD25+/FOXP-3+) cells following Gal-9 treatment. Collectively the results presented in this study indicate that the administration of Gal-9 could provide a new therapeutic strategy for preventing tissue damage in gouty arthritic inflammation and, possibly, in other inflammatory-based diseases

    Characterization and Biocompatibility Study of Nematic and Cholesteryl Liquid Crystals.

    noIntensive research in bio-engineering has been conducted in the search for flexible biomaterials that could support cell growth and cells attachment. Flexible synthetic materials that support cell growth without the aid of synthetic extracellular matrix proteins are still rare. Cholesteryl liquid crystal containing cholesteryl moieties may have suitable biological affinity. Human keratinocytes (HaCat) were cultured with a nematic liquid crystal and three cholesteryl liquid crystals of different formulation. Subsequently, the trypan blue dye exclusion assay was used to determine cell viability in the liquid crystals. The two classes of liquid crystal were characterized by Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) and polarizing microscope (POM) to understand the nature of the interface material. The cell viability study in medium containing liquid crystals verified that liquid crystals had no effects on cell viability. However, only the surface of cholesteryl liquid crystal has shown affinity to HaCat cells. In addition, cells continued to proliferate in the presence of liquid crystals without a change of medium for eight days. No sign of exothermic and endothermic activities at 370C were observed from the DSC test results for the three samples. Biological and mechanical test result of the cholesteryl liquid crystals has shown that cholesteryl liquid crystals are non toxic and support cell attachment without extracellular matrix protein at very low elasticity

    The incidence of prostate cancer in Iran: Results of a population-based cancer registry

    Background: Little is known about the epidemiology of prostate cancer in Iranian men. We carried out an active prostate cancer surveillance program in five provinces of Iran. Methods: Data used in this study were obtained from population-based cancer registries between 1996 and 2000. Results: The age-standardized incidence rate of prostate carcinoma in the five provinces was 5.1 per 100,000 person-years. No significant difference was seen in the age-standardized incidence rate of prostate cancer within the provinces studied. The mean±SD age of patients with prostate cancer was 67±13.5 years. Conclusion: The incidence of prostate cancer in Iran is very low as compared to the Western countries. This can partly be explained by lack of nationwide screening program, younger age structure and quality of cancer registration system in Iran

    Preliminary Measurements of the Motion of Arcjet Current Channel Using Inductive Magnetic Probes

    This paper covers the design and first measurements of non-perturbative, external inductive magnetic diagnostics for arcjet constrictors which can measure the motion of the arc current channel. These measurements of arc motion are motivated by previous simulations using the ARC Heater Simulator (ARCHeS), which predicted unsteady arc motion due to the magnetic kink instability. Measurements of the kink instability are relevant to characterizing motion of the enthalpy profile of the arcjet, the arcjet operational stability, and electrode damage due to associated arc detachment events.
