The impact of educational robots as learning tools in specific technical classes in undergraduate education
The use of mobile robots in the classroom has gained
increasing attention in recent years due to their potential to
enhance student engagement and facilitate personalized learning.
This research presents the insertion of mobile robots as a
hands-on learning experience in Control and Servomechanisms
II and Signal Processing II classes. This work also addresses
the challenges and limitations of using mobile robots in the
classroom, including technical difficulties. The students were
evaluated during the code implementation in the practical
exercises. Besides, a form was provided to them in order to
assess the impact of these robots as part of the pedagogical
practice. From the students’ positive feedback, it was possible to
conclude that the mobile robots were well-accepted. Besides, the
robots enhanced Control Systems classes and improved students’
learning outcomes. The authors would like to thank CEFET/RJ, UFF, UFRJ,

List Of Angiosperm Species In An Atlantic Forest Fragment Reveals Collection Gaps In EspÃrito Santo State, Brazil
This study presents a list of angiosperm species in an Atlantic Forest fragment in the southern portion of EspÃrito Santo state, Brazil, a region that represents a collection gap within the Atlantic Forest. The studied site is a relatively small fragment of 144 ha located within a conservation unit, the Mata das Flores State Park. The site belongs to a conservation priority area for the Atlantic Forest in EspÃrito Santo, and is under strong anthropic pressure. Of the 239 species listed here, 21 are new records for the state, eight are endemic, and 20 figure either in the country’s or the state’s Red Lists of endangered species. Rubiaceae and Piperaceae were the families with the highest number of species. We show that small fragments that were never inventoried before can reveal a relatively large number of threatened species and that collection gaps need to be filled in order to refine our understanding about conservation priorities within the Atlantic Forest Biome. © 2016 Check List and Authors.12111
Productivity and reserve carbohydrates of pastures under cutting intensities
There is a need to better understand the effects that cutting or grazing exert on forage, thus to facilitate planning of management that will not be detrimental to the productivity or persistence of the plants. To this end, experimentation was conducted in the pastures of the Experimental Station of Empresa Pernambucana de Pesquisa Agropecuária, Itambé-PE to determine the effect of height of cutting on dry matter production (DMP), daily rate of DMP, total N accumulation, and concentration of reserve carbohydrate (RC) in the herbage. A completely randomized experimental design was used, with five replicates per treatment: Brachiaria decumbens and B. humidicola cut at heights of 5, 15, and 25 cm and at 25 cm plus 80 kg of N/ha; and Pennisetum purpureum cut at 5, 25 and 50 cm and 50 cm plus 80 kg of N/ha. Four cuttings took place, the first during the transitional season from dry to wet (Februrary 2001), and three during the wet season (April, July, and August 2001). The 5 cm cutting height resulted in the greatest DMP and total N accumulation. There was a tendency toward higher concentration of RC in the grass harvested in the transition period during which B. decumbens showed higher RC values than the other two species
