    HİGH SCHOOL STUDENTS' ANXİETİES ON PHYSİCAL EDUCATİON AND SPORTS

    Physical education is an important part of general education. Ensures the right of the child's right to play and free movement within the school life; provides physical and spiritual training to enjoy sporting activities. Every student has the right to develop his / her skills and to eliminate the unbalanced development within the physical education course. Planned activities gathered in skills, strength and physical education support development in a significant way and make a healthy life possible. The physical education teacher should know the effective means of communication to infuse all these features with the child. In addition to professional knowledge, it should also have the ability to express emotions and thoughts effectively. Healthy communication between teacher and student affects the quality of education in a positive way. The scale was developed by Vassilis Barkoukis, Angelos Rodafinos, Eirini Koidou and Haralambos Tsorbatzoudis in 2012. The Turkish version of the form was obtained from Varol (2014). The aim of this study is to determine the anxiety of high school students against physical education. 8% of the students are 15 years old, 20% are 16 years old, 53% are 17 years old, 19% are 18 years old; 41% were female, 59% were male; 9% in 9th grade, 19% in 10th grade, 53% in 11th grade and 19% in 12th grade. Students' cognitive process sub-dimension scores were 2.08 ± 85, somatic anxiety subscale scores were 2.02 ±, 72, and anxiety subscale scores were 1.78 ± 59.     DETERMINATION OF ASSERTIVENESS AND LONELINESS STATUS OF STUDENTS AT ÖMER HALISDEMIR UNIVERSITY PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS TEACHING AND COACHING EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

    The purpose of this study is to determine the assertiveness and loneliness status of Ömer Halisdemir University Physical Education and Sports Teacher Training and Coaching Education Department. 200 students participated in the research. The loneliness levels of the students were assessed using the 20-item "UCLA Loneliness Scale" (University of California Los Angeles Loneliness Scale) originally developed by Russel, Peplau and Ferguson in 1978 and adapted to Turkish by Demir (1989). The survey was adapted to Turkish by Demir (1998). In the reliability study of the scale, there was a correlation of .91 between the first form and the revised form in 1980. The internal consistency coefficient was .94. In the study for the reliability of the scale, Cronbach Alpha Coefficient was found 96, the test-retest method applied after five-week interval was found to have a correlation coefficient of .94. According to the results of the research, no significant difference was found between the genders of students and assertiveness and loneliness levels, no significant difference was found between the departments of the students and the levels of assertiveness and loneliness, but a significant difference was found between the ages of the students and the levels of assertiveness and loneliness.  Article visualizations

    DETERMINATION OF HEALTHY LIFESTYLE BEHAVIORS OF STUDENTS WHO STUDY AT SPORTS HIGH SCHOOL

    The aim of this study is to determine the healthy lifestyle behaviors of the students who study at Niğde Sports High School. The students who study in Niğde Sports High School during 2016-2017 academic year constitute the universe of the research and 138 students who read the research sample in Niğde Sports High School during 2016-2017 academic year and accepted to participate in the research. As a means of collecting data, two part survey technique was used. In the first part of the questionnaire, there are statements to determine the personal characteristics (sex, age) of the students. In the second part, "Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale II" is used to evaluate healthy lifestyle behaviors of students. The Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale II subscale scores of the Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Student subscale were X = 21,17 ± 5,27, the physical activity subscale score was X = 20,02 ± 5,14, the nutrition subscale score was X = 20,57 ± 4 , 43, spiritual development subscale score X = 27,15 ± 4,93, interpersonal subscale score X = 26,43 ± 4,45, stress management subscale score X = 21,10 ± 4,48, and overall scale the total score was calculated as X = 136.47 ± 22.44. No significant difference was found between the gender and age of students and Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale II scores.  Article visualizations

    EXAMINING OF THE LEVELS OF ATHLETES SELF-SUFFICIENCY THAT INTEREST IN BRANCHES OF BARBELL, WRESTLING AND BOXING

    This study is done in order to examine the relation among the levels of athlete’s self- sufficiency that interest in the barbell, wrestling and boxing which are individual sports. The study consists of 135 athletes who are 126 men, 9 women and also are selected randomly from the branches of barbell, wrestling and boxing in Ankara. A scale form is used as data collection tool in study. The scale forms consist of 2 different parts. In first part, there are some questions about personal characteristics. In second part, there are some questions about the level of self- sufficiency. The findings obtained are collected with the scale of self-sufficiency. The reliability and validity of scale forms are calculated as 0.716 Cronbach alpha value. According to these criteria, the scale is reliable. The data are evaluated in detail by analyzing in SPSS 20.0 programme. In analysis, the analysis of correlation, t test of independent sample, one-way analysis of variance and Tukey test are used. There are no meaningful differences in terms of the levels of women and men participants’ self-sufficiency in research findings. Also, the level of self- sufficiency doesn’t differ according to the age and branch of sport. Given the influence of general self-sufficiency on the attitudes and performance of sportsmen, it is extremely important to know and develop methods for increasing general self-efficacy levels. Athletes' self-efficacy beliefs are an important element in increasing motivation for level of spore participation and success. As people's perception of general self-efficacy increases, so does the interest in the places.  Article visualizations

    Araştırma ilköğretim okullarında uygulanan Beden Eğitimi ve Spor derslerinin amaçlarına ulaşma düzeyinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evreni Konya ili il merkezi ve seçilmiş ilçelerindeki ilköğretim okulları, örneklem grubunu ise bu okullarda öğretmenlik yapan Beden Eğitimi ve Spor öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veriler yazılı kaynaklardan ve anket yöntemiyle elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın amacına dönük bir anket geliştirilmiştir. Hazırlanan anketin anlaşılabilirliği, kapsam geçerliliği ve güvenirliliği test edilmiştir. Alpha güvenirlik katsayısı 0,91 bulunmuştur. Bu konuda yapılan araştırma ve çalışmalara göre ölçeğin güvenirliliği için bu yeterli bir kat sayıdır. Anket formu katılıyorum, kısmen katlıyorum, katılmıyorum şeklinde likert tipi sorulardan oluşup toplam 44 soru bulunmaktadır Anket formu tüm örneklem grubuna uygulanmıştır. Uygulanan anketlerden hatasız dolduran153 erkek, 86 bayan olmak üzere toplam 239 kişinin anketleri değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Elde edilen verilere İstatistik işlemler SPSS 13. paket programı ile yapılmıştır. İstatistiksel teknik olarak frekans, yüzdelikli (%) ve Kİ-KARE teknikleri uygulanmıştır. 0,01-0,05 güven aralığı kabul edilerek anlamlılık düzeyleri tespit edilmiştir. Yorumlar frekans, yüzdelik ve Kİ-KARE değerlerine göre yapılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, araştırmaya katılan katılımcıların genel olarak 4 yıllık fakülte mezunu olduklarını, hizmet yıllarının 6-11 yıl olduğunu, ders yüklerinin 16-25 saat arasında yoğunlaştığını, okulların çoğunluğunun il merkezinde ve ikili öğretim yapıp spor salonunun olduğunu, öğrencilerin derslerin önemi ve gereğini kavrayamadığını, okullarda haftalık ders saatlerinin yetersiz olduğunu, sınıfların çok kalabalık ve spor tesisleri, araç, gereçleri yetersiz olduğunu, idare ve diğer branş öğretmenleri tarafından yeterince destek sağlanmadığını, öğrencilerin değerlendirilmesinde her öğrencinin kendi yetenek ve becerileri yönünde, okul içi davranış, Beden Eğitimi ve Spor dersi malzemelerini kullanmalarına göre değerlendirilmeleri gerektiğini; Araştırma kapsamındaki okullarda Beden Eğitimi ve Spor derslerinin amaçlarına ulaşma düzeyine, katılımcıların cinsiyet, okulun bulunduğu yer ve eğitim türü değişkeninde ters yönde anlamlı bir görüş ayrılığı olmamakla birlikte çoğunluk olarak amacına ulaştığını söyleyebiliriz.Research has been carried out in order to define the level to reach the aims of physical education and sports courses taken in primary education. The area of the research is at the schools around the center of Konya, central country sides; sampling group is composed of physical and sports teachers teaching at these schools. The data in the research have been gained from written sources and survey methods. A survey suitable for the aims of the research has been developed. Apprehensibility, coverage sufficiency and reliability of the survey prepared were tested. The quotient of Alpha reliability was found 0, 91. This was an adequate quotient for the reliability according to the studies and researches done on this subject. As the survey form consists of choice type questions as I agree, I partly agree, I disagree, there are 44 questions. Survey form has been applied to all sampling group. The surveys of 153 men and 86 women who had filled with no errors and totally 239 people out of the surveys carried out were taken into assessment. Statistical procedures to the data gained were done with SPSS 13. software. As statistical techniques, frequency, percentage (%) and K2 techniques were applied. The level of apprehensibility was determined as 0, 01 0, 05 was defined as confidence interval. The comments were made according to frequency, percentage and K2. Consequently, the participants attending survey are generally graduates of 4-year faculties, their terms of service are 6-11 years, their class load are around 16-25 hours, most of the schools are in the city center and have sport centers making binary education, the students have not understood the importance and necessity of the courses, the weekly lesson hours at schools are not enough, the classes are so crowded and sport centers, materials are not sufficient, it is not supported sufficiently by management and other teachers, in testing the students, they must be evaluated according to how they behave at school and use the materials of physical education and sports for each studentzs own qualifications and skills. At schools in the scope of the survey, level of the purposes of physical education and sports lessons can be said to reach mostly as there has been no disagreements on the opposite side on the variable of the gender of the participants, the place of the school and type of education

    Bu araştırma; ilköğretim beden eğitimi derslerinde başarı düzeyi belirlenmesinde etkin olan faktörler hakkında beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin sahip olduğu görüşleri değerlendirmek amacını taşımaktadır. Araştırmanın evrenini Konya ili il merkezi ve seçilmiş ilçelerindeki (Ereğli, Karapınar ve Halkapınar) ilköğretim okulları, örneklem gurubunu ise bu yerleşim yerlerindeki bazı okullarda görev yapan toplam 239 beden eğitimi öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın amacıyla uyumlu anketin uygulanabilirliği ve güvenirliği test edilmiş, cronbach’s alpfa katsayısı 0,91 bulunmuştur. Elde edilen verilerin değerlendirilmesinde frekans ve yüzde (%) gibi basit istatistiksel teknikler ile Ki-Kare (c) çözümlemesinden yararlanılmıştır. Anlamlılık düzeyi olarak 0,01 ve 0,05 güven aralığı kabul edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, derslerde öğretmenler tarafından öğrenci başarısının değerlendirilmesinde kullanılan faktörlerin cinsiyet değişkenine göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermediği anlaşılmaktadır. Bu faktörlerden en yaygın kabul görenleri sırasıyla; “bilgi, beceri, tavır ve alışkanlıkların tamamı değerlendirilmeli”, “öğrencilerin okul içi ve dışı faaliyetleri bütün olarak değerlendirmeye alınmalı”, “her öğrenci kendi fiziksel yapı ve yeteneklerine, ilgi çaba ve çalışmalara katılma durumuna göre değerlendirilmelidir” önermeleridir. Bunun yanı sıra öğretmenler “değerlendirme öğrenci gözlem formuna göre yapılmalı” ve “okul tesis ve araçlarını kullanma çabası değerlendirmeye katılmalıdır” görüşlerine de oldukça yüksek oranda katılmaktadır.The aim of this study is to evaluate the views of teachers of physical education about the factors effectivedetermining the success level in physical education classes. The study population consists of primary schools in the center of Konya and some of its selected districts (Eregli, Karapinar and Halkapinar) while the sample of the study consists of 239 physical education teachers in some of the schools of the aforementioned places. The questionnaire’s reliability and applicability were tested and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was found to be 0.91. Simple statistical techniques such as frequency and percentage (%) and Chi-Square (c) analysis were usedthe assessment of the data. 0.01 and 0.05 level of significance was considered to be significant According to the results, the factors used by teaches in the evaluation of students’ success did not showsignificant difference in term of gender. The factors most widely accepted were “skills, knowledge, attitude and habits should be evaluated to the fullest extent”, school and extracurricular activities of the students should be evaluated as a whole”, each student should be evaluated according to his/her own physique and his/he participation in studies” respectively. A high percentage of teaches agree with the statements “evaluation of students should be done according to the form of observation” and “an attempt to use school facilities and tools should be taken into consideration”.

    Investigation of Secondary School Student's Value Perceptions and Attitudes Regarding to Physical Education and Sports Lesson

    This research aimed to examine the value perceptions and attitudes of secondary school students towards physical education and sports lessons. The research, which was designed in a quasi-experimental model with a pretest-posttest control group, was conducted with 91 7th-grade students in the second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. The students were divided into 4 groups according to the course content applied in the physical education lesson: “Sports Education Model (SEM)”, “Physical Activity Card (PAC)”, “Traditional Children's Games (TCG)” and “Control Group (CG)”. Physical education lessons were carried out with the groups for 10 weeks. The data were collected using the mixed method explanatory sequential design approach. "Physical Education and Sports Lesson Values Education Scale" and "Physical Education and Sports Attitude Scale" were used to collect quantitative data. In the analysis of the data, arithmetic means, correlation, Wilcoxon, Mann Whitney U, and Kruskal Wallis analyzes were performed. Qualitative data, on the other hand, were collected through lesson observations and focus group interviews and analyzed by content analysis. According to the research findings; there has been an increase in secondary school students' physical education lesson value perceptions and attitudes. The most developed value of the students was friendship, followed by self-control, helpfulness, justice, and responsibility, respectively. The students in the TCG and SEM groups showed more improvement in their helpfulness, friendship, and general value perception. Those in the TCG group improved more in responsibility and self-control than the CG and PAC groups. Physical education lesson attitudes of SEM, PAC, and TCG group students improved more than CG students. While there was a development in favor of males in self-control value, no significant difference was found in other values dimensions and course attitudes according to gender. A positive moderate relationship was found between students' value perceptions and course attitudes. In the focus group interview, the students in different groups interpreted the research findings in different ways. As a result of the research; TCG and SEM were at the forefront in the development of students' value perception, and PAC and TCG in the development of course attitudes. Based on these results, it is recommended that teachers teach lessons with different models, methods, and course materials

    Bu çalışmada beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmeni adaylarının çevre sorunlarına ilişkin farkındalık ve tutum düzeylerinin tespit edilmesi ve adaylarının çevre sorunlarına ilişkin farkındalıkları ve tutumları ile beş değişken arasında bulunan farklılıkların (cinsiyetleri, ebeveynlerinin eğitim düzeyleri, yaptıkları spor türü, en uzun süre yaşadıkları yerleşim ve öğrenim gördükleri üniversite) saptanması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu Niğde Ömer Halisdemir Üniversitesi, Aksaray Üniversitesi, Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli Üniversitesi ve Erciyes Üniversitesi 2018-2019 Eğitim-Öğretim yılı sonbahar döneminde öğrenim gören; beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmenliği bölümü (N=380) öğrencilerinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmeni adaylarının çevre sorunlarına ilişkin farkındalık ve tutumlarını saptamak için Güven ve Aydoğdu (2012)' nun geliştirdiği 44 maddelik çevre sorunlarına ilişlin farkındalık ölçeği ve Güven (2013)' in geliştirmiş olduğu 45 maddelik çevre sorunlarına ilişkin tutum ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Ulaşılan veriler SPSS istatistik analiz yazılımı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Ulaşılan verilerin analizinde betimsel istatistik teknikler, bağımsız gruplar t-testi ve ANOVA'dan yararlanılmış, kabul edilebilirlik düzeyi .05 olarak belirlenmiştir. Çalışmanın neticesinde beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmeni adaylarının çevre sorunlarına ilişkin farkındalık düzeylerinin yüksek seviyede ( X=68,21 ) ve tutumlarının da olumlu yönde (X=71,29) olduğu saptanmıştır. Adayların çevre sorunlarına yönelik farkındalık ve tutuum düzeyleri ise beş değişkene göre farklılık göstermemektedir. Ayrıca adaylarının çevre sorunlarına ilişkin farkındalık seviyeleri ve tutum düzeyleri arasında bir bağlantı olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen verilere göre beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmenliği bölümü öğrencilerinin çevre sorunlarına yönelik farkındalık seviyelerinin yüksek, tutum seviyelerinin ise gayet olumlu olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Mevcut durumun korunması ve diğer öğretmenlik bölümlerinin adaylarının da farkındalık ve tutum seviyeleri tespit edilip bölümler arası karşılaştırmalar yaparak literatürün geliştirilmesi sağlanmalıdır. The study group of the research was studied in Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Aksaray University, Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University and Erciyes University in the fall semester of 2018-2019 academic year. physical education and sports teaching department (N = 380). In the study, the awareness scale related to environmental problems of 44 items developed by Güven and Aydoğdu (2012) and the attitude scale of 45 items developed by Güven (2013) were used to determine the awareness and attitudes of physical education and sports teacher candidates about environmental problems. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS statistical analysis software. Descriptive statistical techniques, independent groups t-test and ANOVA were used in the analysis of the data obtained and the level of acceptability was determined as .05. As a result of the study, it was found that the awareness levels of physical education and sports teacher candidates on environmental problems were high (X = 68.21) and their attitudes were positive (X = 71.29). Candidates' awareness and attitudes towards environmental problems do not differ according to five variables. In addition, it was found that there is no connection between the awareness levels and attitude levels of the candidates regarding environmental problems. Preservation of current awareness and attitude levels and awareness and attitude levels of other teacher departments' candidates should be determined and comparisons between departments should contribute to the literature.
