Outsourcing as a simple and economic executive instrument is increasingly being used by interested managers of business and industrial organizations. But, they encounter some conceptual problems in this process. Unfortunately, studies on service outsourcing are scarce while there is significant research on using outsourcing for hard product activities. Main goal of present study is to investigate and prioritize factors influencing outsourcing of activities. Six hypotheses are proposed. Main variables consist of quality promotion, cost, specialization, importance of activities and outsourcing. Present research is a descriptive-survey-causal and applied study. Gas Company of Mazandaran Province and Suburb was selected as statistical population. Data collected using questionnaires and research hypotheses were analyzed using structural equation model and LISREL software. Finally, some recommendations were provided based on research hypotheses

The impact of transformational leadership on public service motivation

    Get PDF
In this study, the impact of transformational leadership on dimensions of public service motivation has been investigated among employees of 78 branches of banks in Semnan Province in Iran. Based on random sampling method, 286 employees completed multi-dimensional questionnaire of leadership measuring leadership style and a reviewed version of Perry & Wise (1990) questionnaire of public service motivation. The analysis of correlation analysis using SPSS software showed that there is a relationship between elements of transformational leadership and 3 dimensions of commitment to public interest, compassion, and self-sacrifice. Among elements of transformational leadership, 2 elements of inspirational leadership and individualized consideration had a more significant relationship with dimensions of public service motivation. Based on multiple regression results, 52 percents of changes in indexes of public service motivation is predictable by the elements of transformational leadership

Free PMC Article: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5874609/Abstract: Plant-based systems continue to play an essential role in healthcare, and their use by different cultures has been extensively documented. Asphodelus L. (Asphodelaceae) is a genus of 18 species and of a total of 27 species, sub-species and varieties, distributed along the Mediterranean basin, and has been traditionally used for treating several diseases particularly associated with inflammatory and infectious skin disorders. The present study aimed to provide a general review of the available literature on ethnomedical, phytochemical, and biological data related to the genus Asphodelus as a potential source of new compounds with biological activity. Considering phytochemical studies, 1,8-dihydroxyanthracene derivatives, flavonoids, phenolic acids and triterpenoids were the main classes of compounds identified in roots, leaf and seeds which were correlated with their biological activities as anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, cytotoxic, anti-inflammatory or antioxidant agents. The authors wish to thank the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) for financial support of iMed.ULisboa project (UID/DTP/04138/2013) as well as a doctoral fellowship granted to the first author (SFRH/BD/125310/2016). The Effect of Chemotherapy in Gestational Trophoblastic Disease on Infertility: A Review on Pathophysiologic Mechanism

    Get PDF
Today, young women infertility through chemotherapy has become a global challenge. Chemotherapy destructs the malignant cells by reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and inflammatory factors secretion; these factors can also destruct the ovarian and uterine cells. Infertility usually happens as a result of ovarian and uterine cells apoptosis, as well as dysfunction in these organs. Signaling pathways activated by chemotherapy lead to increased activation of follicles and depletion of the follicular pool. In addition, excessive secretion of sex hormones leads to follicles activation and infertility in women. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) use have been reported to be a great help in restoring the function of ovarian and uterine cells. On the other hand, they can regulate sex hormone secretion. Finally, the use of MSCs as a suitable treatment strategy can help restore the function of reproductive cells and treat infertility. *Corresponding Author: Maryam Ebrahimi; ORCID iD: 0000 0001 9685 7882; Email: [email protected] Please cite this article as: Eslamnik P, Moghaddasi M, Malmir A, Sadeghi-Goughari B, Javan MR, Ebrahimi M. Identifying and Prioritizing Barriers to Health Tourism Using the Analytical Hierarchy Process

    Get PDF
Introduction: Iran offers many advantages for health tourism, e.g., low costs, high quality healthcare, qualified doctors, and abundant natural attractions, but there are also obstacles to the development of health tourism in Iran. This study aimed to identify and prioritize the barriers to health tourism in hospitals affiliated with Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the first 6 months of 2016. Six main components were identified based on experts’ opinions; then, based on these components, a questionnaire for pairwise comparison was produced and completed by the same experts. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) model was used to prioritize the identified factors. Results: Results showed that among the barriers to health tourism in the investigated hospitals, the most important obstacle is the unfamiliarity of medical staff with foreign languages with a weight of 0.268. Lack of manpower and inappropriate physical were ranked second and third in priority with weights of 0.214 and 0.157, respectively. Conclusion: Considering the available capacities and potentials, effective and impressive steps can be taken to economically develop the medical tourism industry in Iran

Monographic Quality Parameters and Genotoxicity Assessment of Asphodelus bento-rainhae and Asphodelus macrocarpus Root Tubers as Herbal Medicines

This article belongs to the Special Issue Wild Edible and Medicinal Plants: Ecophysiological and Cultural Aspects for Commercial Cultivation.Root tubers of Asphodelus bento-rainhae subsp. bento-rainhae (AbR), an endemic species with relevant interest due to conservation concerns, and Asphodelus macrocarpus subsp. macrocarpus (AmR) have been traditionally used for culinary and medicinal purposes, mainly associated with skin infection and inflammation. The present study aims to establish the quality control criteria for the proper characterization of dried root tubers of both species as herbal substances, together with their preclinical safety assessments. Botanical identification using macroscopic and microscopic techniques and phytochemical evaluation/quantification of the main classes of marker secondary metabolites, including phenolic compounds (flavonoid, anthraquinone, condensed and hydrolysable tannin) and terpenoids were performed. Additionally, in vitro genotoxicity/mutagenicity was evaluated by Ames test. Evident morphological differences in the development of tubercles (3.5 × 1 cm in AbR and 8.7 × 1.4 cm in AmR) and microscopicly in the arrangements and characteristics of the vascular cylinder (metaxylem and protoxylems) were found. Anatomical similarities such as multiple-layered epidermis (velamen) and the cortex area with thin-walled idioblasts (134 ± 2.9 µm and 150 ± 27.6 µm) containing raphide crystals (37.2 ± 14.2 µm and 87.7 ± 15.3 µm) were observed between AbR and AmR, respectively. Terpenoids (173.88 ± 29.82 and 180.55 ± 10.57 mg OAE/g dried weight) and condensed tannins (128.64 ± 14.05 and 108.35 ± 20.37 mg CAE/g dried weight) were found to be the main class of marker secondary metabolites of AbR and AmR extracts, respectively. No genotoxicity (up to 5 mg/plate, without metabolic activation) was detected in these medicinal plants' tested extracts. The obtained results will contribute to the knowledge of the value of the Portuguese flora and their future commercial cultivation utilization as raw materials for industrial and pharmaceutical use. This research was funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT, Portugal) through national funds to iMed.ULisboa (UIDP/04138/2020) and MEtRICs (UIDP/04077/2020, UIDB/04077/2020) research projects, as well as doctoral scholarship SFRH/BD/125310/2016.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
