The combined sensor using bridge circuit supplied by current sources for simultaneous measurement of two parameters

    Get PDF
This paper describes a new features of resistance bridge supplied by two current sources placed in opposite arms. The possibility to simultaneous measurements of temperature and strain has been achieved by using this technique and it is described with some theoretical considerations. Theory is mentioned along with data to confirm that the temperature and strain gauge resistance changes are sensed without appreciable error. Also the results of an experiment confirm this approach. To complete these considerations the uncertainty of both temperature and strain changes is calculated. Also the possibility to apply this technique in biomechanics is discusse

Combining uretdione and disulfide reversibly degradable polyurethanes : route to alternating block copolymers

    Get PDF
Uretdione (temperature and catalyst controlled) and disulphide (REDOX controlled) functionalised polyurethanes have been described and the reversibility of these bonds tested. The polymers have been synthesised with reversible covalent groups present throughout their backbone, developing routes to reversibly degradable polyurethanes. These materials degrade and reheal in response to different external stimuli, which supplies a proof of concept for controlling the molecular weight, and therefore, the physical properties of a polyurethane. Further, a unique route to an alternating block copolymer is also discussed that utilises a mixture of disulphide and uretdione functionalised polymers as the reagents to form a thiourethane. The dramatically reduced safety hazards of dealing with the functionalised polymers, in comparison to the free isocyanate and thiols, could be of great interest to industrial application for current drives towards safer routes to polyurethanes

Metal-Dependent Cytotoxic and Kinesin Spindle Protein Inhibitory Activity of Ru, Os, Rh, and Ir Half-Sandwich Complexes of Ispinesib-Derived Ligands

    Get PDF
Ispinesib is a potent inhibitor of kinesin spindle protein (KSP), which has been identified as a promising target for antimitotic anticancer drugs. Herein, we report the synthesis of half-sandwich complexes of Ru, Os, Rh, and Ir bearing the ispinesib-derived N,N-bidentate ligands (R)- and (S)-2-(1-amino-2-methylpropyl)-3-benzyl-7-chloroquinazolin-4(3H)-one and studies on their chemical and biological properties. Using the enantiomerically pure (R)- and (S)-forms of the ligand, depending on the organometallic moiety, either the SM,R or RM,S diastereomers, respectively, were observed in the molecular structures of the Ru- and Os(cym) (cym = η6-p-cymene) compounds, whereas the RM,R or SM,S diastereomers were found for the Rh- and Ir(Cp*) (Cp* = η5-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) derivatives. However, density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest that the energy difference between the diastereomers is very small, and therefore a mixture of both will be present in solution. The organometallics exhibited varying antiproliferative activity in a series of human cancer cell lines, with the complexes featuring the (R)-enantiomer of the ligand being more potent than the (S)-configured counterparts. Notably, the Rh and Ir complexes demonstrated high KSP inhibitory activity, even at 1 nM concentration, which was independent of the chirality of the ligand, whereas the Ru and especially the Os derivatives were much less active

Network formation mechanisms in conjugated microporous polymers

We discuss in detail the mechanism of formation of a highly microporous polymer, CMP-1, formed mainly via Sonogashira–Hagihara coupling. We demonstrate how the microporosity evolves with time, and discuss the importance of alkyne homo-coupling on the microporosity

Methane adsorption in metal-organic frameworks containing nanographene linkers: a computational study

    Get PDF
Metal-organic framework (MOF) materials are known to be amenable to expansion through elongation of the parent organic linker. For a family of model (3,24)-connected MOFs with the rht topology, in which the central part of organic linker comprises a hexabenzocoronene unit, the effect of the linker type and length on their structural and gas adsorption properties is studied computationally. The obtained results compare favourably with known MOF materials of similar structure and topology. We find that the presence of a flat nanographene-like central core increases the geometric surface area of the frameworks, sustains additional benzene rings, promotes linker elongation and the efficient occupation of the void space by guest molecules. This provides a viable linker modification method with potential for enhancement of uptake for methane and other gas molecules

In the paper a metrological estimation of one model of multichannel measuring system is presented. Uncertainties of indyvidual elements of measuring track are taken into consideration and the law of propagation is applied. Real results are calculated for three diferent transducers of temperature. Analysis of respective components denotes the possibilities and limits in decreasing the uncertainty of mentioned system

In this paper the original system for motivating of students at metrology course is presented. This course is the part of teaching program of electrical engineering studies at 1st level on 2nd semester. The system is based on the web application that has been elaborated by the second author of this paper. It enables to watch the actual ranking position of every student together with all detailed results. During the weeks of teaching the list is modified because of adding the scores from quizzes, reports, activities and e-learning course. All these components and parameters of their evaluations are mentioned. This system has been applied in a summer semester 2016/2017 at Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Bialystok University of Technology. The effects of introduction and operation of this system are described in the forms of graphs and comments. Some ideas of improvement of this tool are proposed in the form of conclusions
