    Marketing Features on University Library Websites in Pakistan

    The purposes of the study are to identify marketing key features through content analysis of university library websites in Pakistan. Also compare the public and private sectors university library websites in terms of marketing activities. Similarly, expose marketing key features that lacks in public and private sector university library websites. Based on the adopted criteria, a checklist of marketing features was designed. A purposive sample of 53 main (Central) libraries websites of public and private sector universities having at least one marketing feature was selected for detailed analysis. The study reveals that the overall situation of university library websites in terms of marketing features is not good. However, public sector university library websites are comparatively better in this regard than the private sector. The results of the study help libraries to design and implement a strategic marketing plan that will ultimately create awareness about library resources and services via websites and help to improve the image of universities libraries in Pakistan. This study is new in Pakistan and fills the gap in the literature on the subject. Moreover, this study will support in developing library websites equipped with marketing features

    Effect of carbon fiber winding layer on torsional characteristics of filament wound composite shafts

    Composite materials are promising candidates as structural materials and substituting metals in extensive applications. Shafts are used in aerospace and automotive structures and hence replacing conventional shafts with composite material shafts is a viable option. Hollow shafts can be manufactured using filament winding technology employing hoop and helix winding layers. Filament winding technology offers several advantages such as continuous filaments through structure and capability for continuous manufacturing. Previously researchers have investigated composite shafts; however, this research elaborates the significance of type of winding layer on torsional characteristics. This paper reports the effects of carbon fiber winding layer on torsional characteristics of filament wound composite hollow shafts. Shafts were manufactured using filament winding technology with continuous carbon fiber roving and epoxy matrix material and tested using the torsional testing machine. The finite element (FE) simulations have been carried out with a general purpose commercial FE code, ABAQUS, to demonstrate shafts in torsional loading. The results revealed that values from torsional test correlate with developed finite element model. It was concluded that helix winding layer offers high hardness and more resistance to torsional forces as compared to hoop winding layer in filament wound composite shafts

    Predicting Gestational Age of Fetus with the Reference of Humerus and Foot Length by Ultrasonography

    Objective: The objective of the study is to predict the gestational age of fetus with the reference of humerus and foot length by ultrasonography. Methodology: A cross sectional analytical study was perform in which 131 pregnant women with a singleton fetus were taken to get the required results. All data of the ultrasonographical reports has been collected from The Department of Radiology, Sheikh Zaid Hospital, Lahore. All pregnant women, from the second trimester to full term, are examined by ultrasound measurement of the full HL and FFL were taken by using a curve array transducer. Results: 36 women (27.5%) out of 131 had gestational age by LMP was 17-20 weeks and only 2 women (1.5%) having gestational age by LMP of 37-40 weeks while out of 37 women (28.2%) out of 131 had gestational age by foot length was 17-20 weeks and 8 women(6.1%) having gestational age by foot length of 25-28 weeks. 41 women (31.3%) out of 131 had gestational age by humerus length was17-20 weeks and 3 women (2.3%) having gestational age by foot length of 37-40 weeks.GA was almost similar from these different parameters i.e. LMP, Foot Length and Humerus Length. Conclusion: The fetal foot length and humerus length developed with gestational age in a healthily developing fetus. During the late second and third trimesters of pregnancy, the length of a fetus's foot and humerus length could be considered as an exploratory approach to determine the gestation of the fetus. When other parameters failed to reliably estimate gestational age, the length of the fetal foot and humerus length proved effective.     Graphene oxide incorporated polyether sulfone nanocomposite antifouling ultrafiltration membranes with enhanced hydrophilicity

    In this study, the polyether sulfone (PES) based membranes containing various concentrations of graphene oxide (GO), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), and polyethylene glycol (PEG) were synthesized via the phase immersion method. This study aims to evaluate the effect of GO addition on the structural properties and performance of the membranes. The membranes were analyzed by x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The FTIR-ATR spectra indicated the presence of hydroxyl and carboxylic acid groups on the surface of GO-incorporated membranes, which improved their dispersion in the polymeric matrix and hydrophilicity. The SEM analysis of the GO-containing PES membranes confirmed the formation of a well-defined finger-like porous structure presenting adequate water flux (95 l.m(-2).h(-1)) and salt rejection (72%) compared to the pristine PES membranes (46 l.m(-2).h(-1) and similar to 35%, respectively).     Comparison of Sonographic Quantitative Assessment of Splenomegaly in Thalassemia Patients Receiving Whole Blood and Packed Red Cell Transfusions

    Objective: An observational cross-sectional study to assess sonographic splenomegaly quantitatively in thalassemia patients grouped with respect to transfusion given whole blood vs packed red cells. Methods: A study was conducted among 330 patients equally divided into two groups, undergoing an abdominal ultrasound examination with a transducer frequency ranging from 3-5 MHz during the period December 2021 to August 2022. An independent t-test was applied to compare the splenic volume in thalassemia patients given whole blood transfusions versus packed red cells transfusions, and Cohen's d was used to indicate the standardized difference between two ultrasound splenic volume means. Results: The mean splenic volume of the patients who received whole blood cells was 320.62 ± 219.05 cm3, which is greater than the patients who received packed red cells, whose mean was 60.72 ± 58.72 cm3, The splenomegaly was quantitatively assessed in six age groups ranging from 1 to 3 years, 4 to 6 years, 7 to 9 years, 10 to 12 years, 13 to 15 years, and 16-18 years and mean splenic volume in each age group was compared to those receiving whole blood or packed red cells transfusion. there is a statistically significant difference between both transfusion receiving groups, having a larger Cohen’s d size effect of 1.62. Conclusion: Ultrasound is a reliable imaging modality for assessing splenic volume and linear parameters of the spleen with greater splenomegaly in thalassemia patients with whole blood transfusions than those with packed red cells when quantitatively assessed according to relevant age groups. Thalassemia patients should be transfused packed red cells to delay splenomegaly, that should be assessed sonographically

    In this reported work a single feed, miniaturized, dual layer, and low profile antenna is presented for 1.575GHz frequency band. The proposed antenna offers high gain, lower noise bandwidth, with better sensitivity and range. The ground choke technique is used for back lobe suppression. The prototype is fabricated on FR 4 substrate using manual fabrication technique. This offers an inexpensive and readily available fabrication. Therefore, fabricated antenna is small size, low cost, easily fabricated and tested for satellite communication. The antenna comprises of two layers, containing a patch radiator and a Metasurface layer with 3x3 rectangular ring resonators. The layers are separated using foam with a 12mm width. The proposed prototype is radiating at 1.575GHz and 2.33GHz with an overall dimension of 85.6 x 68.4 x 15.204 mm. The developed antenna provides a gain of 5.9 dBi. The simulated results are verified using VNA and anechoic chamber testing. Moreover, the developed antenna has been successfully tested for L-Band Satellite communication in real time scenario without any LNA. Higher Gain due to Metasurface increase the efficiency of the system. The promising results indicate the aptness of the developed antenna for real-world applications of L-Band and S-Band
