Graphene has been proved to be an excellent nanomaterial for modern electronic applications such as biosensors, transistors or heaters. The natural point of view is to use this new nanomaterial for the development of unique textronic devices. The current state of the art of the materials science shows design possibilities of the smart textiles with graphene. The authors show the results of implementation of 2D carbon structure into the textronic devices. Semantic and stylistic analysis of polish priamels. The présent paper deals with the problem of a certain formal-semantic type of proverbe called 'priamels' . The main purpose of the paper is to describe the Polish priamels according to the semantic and stylistic aspects. At first the author characterises priamels from the seman- tic point of view. The analysis of quoted éléments makes it possible to draw conclusions as to the most frequently occurring classemes, the most numerous classeme links as well as to the type and place of the major semantic feature. The author established the semantic-pragmatic value of the common feature and the type of the semantic link between the common feature and the quoted éléments. The stylistic part contains the enumeration of the stylistic figures of speech as well as lexicographie labels, discussed in the context of: quoted éléments, the common feature, and the priamel treated as a whole.Analiza semantyczna i stylistyczna polskich priameli. Lipinska Magdalena. Elastomeric epoxy nanocomposites: Nanostructure and properties

    No full text
In polymer layered silicate nanocomposites, significant differences have been reported between the effects of the nano-reinforcement on rigid and elastomeric nanocomposites. In this paper, we have studied elastomeric nanocomposites based upon DGEBA epoxy resin filled with montmorillonite (MMT) and cured with a long-chain polyoxypropylene diamine, for comparison with analogous rigid nanocomposites. Ultrasonic mixing was used to disperse the MMT in the matrix to improve homogeneity and decrease the agglomerate size. Two different methods of nanocomposite preparation were used in which the MMT was first swollen with either the curing agent or the epoxy before the addition of, respectively, DGEBA or diamine. A better dispersion of the nanoclay in the matrix and a greater amount of intercalation occurred when the MMT was first swollen with the diamine. The effect of MMT concentrations up to 8 wt.% on the mechanical behaviour of the epoxy/MMT nanocomposites was investigated. It was found that the addition of MMT increased the tensile strength and modulus, although SAXS and TEM indicated that a significant fraction of the clay layers were not exfoliated. Nevertheless, the addition of the clay resulted in changes in the fracture surfaces, as indicated by SEM, consistent with the tensile results and indicative of toughening.Peer Reviewe

Structure Development of Biodegradable Polymers: Crystallization of PLA

    No full text
International audiencePoly-(lactic acid) or PLA is a biodegradable polymer produced from renewable resources. Recently new polymerization routes have been discovered which allows increasing the produced quantity. Hence, PLA becomes of great interest to lessen the dependence on petroleum-based plastics. Due to its good mechanical properties, PLA is a potential substitute to some usual polymers such as PET. Nevertheless the kinetics of crystallization is relatively slow which can be an inconvenient in polymer processing. Thermomechanical history experienced by the polymer during processing affects drastically its relative crystallinity. For example, the flow is known to enhance the crystallization kinetics. Nevertheless, only a few studies were found in the literature about the crystallization of PLA under flow conditions. In the present work we investigate the crystallization of PLA under quiescent and flow conditions. A combination of DSC, rheological and optical measurements is used to identify the crystallization kinetic parameters. Thermal and flow-induced crystallization are then simulated using two sets of Schneider's differential equations [1] based on a previously developed model Zinet & al [2]. Experimental results are analyzed and compared to the numerical model. New features about the influence of thermal and flow conditions on the crystallization of PLA are discussed

Polyacrylamide brushes with varied morphologies as a tool for control of the intermolecular interactions within EPDM/MVQ blends

    No full text
The specific interactions between polyacrylamide brushes composed of polyacrylamide chains tethered to montmorillonite particles (Mt-g-PAm) and the individual components of immiscible ethylene-propylene-diene modified with sorbic acid (EPDM) and methyl vinyl silicone (MVQ) blends were studied. The effect of various lengths of PAm chains and their grafting density on montmorillonite (Mt) surface was investigated. It was determined that, due to interactions generated within the system through carboxyl and amide groups the brush particles were selectively located at the EPDM/MVQ interphase and in the EPDM phase. Furthermore, the longer PAm chains resulted in an increase of the glass transition of EPDM, unification of blend morphology, and the reduction of crystallinity of the MVQ phase. Therefore, precisely designed polymer brushes could be considered as novel functional compatibilizers, that provide a new tool for the future material designing. © 2021 Elsevier LtdNational Science Centre, PolandNational Science Center, PolandNational Science Centre, Poland [UMO-2016/23/P/ST5/02131]; European UnionEuropean Commission [665778]; Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech republic -DKRVO [RP/CPS/2020/003]; Research & Innovation Operational Programme - ERDF [313021T081]; [VEGA 2/0129/19]; [APVV-19-0338]665778; UMO-2016/23/P/ST5/02131; Slovenská Akadémia Vied, SAV: 313021T081; Ministerstvo Školství, Mládeže a Tělovýchovy, MŠMT: RP/CPS/2020/003; Narodowe Centrum Nauki, NCN; European Regional Development Fund, FEDER: APVV-19-0338, VEGA 2/0129/1
