Coletânea de textos que resultaram no Encontro Mulheres e Media organizada pela Associação Portuguesa de Estudos sobre as Mulheres, no âmbito da iniciativa "Reflexões no Alvito" promovida pela Plataforma Portuguesa dos Direitos das Mulheres. Integram esta coletânea textos sobre as primeiras mulheres jornalistas na imprensa escrita (de Isabel Ventura), as mulheres e os novos media (de Adriana Delgado), feminismo e espaço virtual (de Noa Wirth-Nogradi) e as representações do 8 de Março na imprensa escrita portuguesa (de Carla Cerqueira). Quantum critical point in the spin glass-antiferromagnetism competition in Kondo-lattice systems

A theory is proposed to describe the competition among antiferromagnetism (AF), spin glass (SG) and Kondo effect. The model describes two Kondo sublattices with an intrasite Kondo interaction strength $J_{K}$ and an interlattice quantum Ising interaction in the presence of a transverse field $\Gamma$. The interlattice coupling is a random Gaussian distributed variable (with average $-2J_0/N$ and variance $32 J^{2}/N$) while the $\Gamma$ field is introduced as a quantum mechanism to produce spin flipping. The path integral formalism is used to study this fermionic problem where the spin operators are represented by bilinear combinations of Grassmann fields. The disorder is treated within the framework of the replica trick. The free energy and the order parameters of the problem are obtained by using the static ansatz and by choosing both $J_0/J$ and $\Gamma/J \approx (J_k/J)^2$ to allow, as previously, a better comparison with the experimental findings. The results indicate the presence of a SG solution at low $J_K/J$ and for temperature $T<T_{f}$ ($T_{f}$ is the freezing temperature). When $J_K/J$ is increased, a mixed phase AF+SG appears, then an AF solution and finally a Kondo state is obtained for high values of $J_{K}/J$. Moreover, the behaviors of the freezing and Neel temperatures are also affected by the relationship between $J_{K}$ and the transverse field $\Gamma$. The first one presents a slight decrease while the second one decreases towards a Quantum Critical Point (QCP). The obtained phase diagram has the same sequence as the experimental one for $Ce_{2}Au_{1-x}Co_{x}Si_{3}$, if $J_{K}$ is assumed to increase with $x$, and in addition, it also shows a qualitative agreement concerning the behavior of the freezing and the Neel temperatures.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in J. CP asymmetry from hadronic charm rescattering in B± → π−π+π± decays at the high mass region

A model for the $B^\pm \to \pi^-\pi^+\pi^\pm$ decay amplitude is proposed to study the large CP violation observed at the high mass region of the Dalitz plane. A short distance $b \to u$ amplitude with the weak phase $\gamma$ is considered together with the contribution of a hadronic charm loop and a s-wave $D\bar{D}\to \pi\pi$ rescattering. In the model, the $\chi_c^0$ appears as a narrow resonant state of the $D\bar D$ system below threshold. It is introduced in an unitary two channel S-matrix model of the coupled $D\bar D$ and $\pi\pi$ channels, where the $\chi_c^0$ complex pole in $D\bar D$ channel shows its signature in the off-diagonal matrix element and in the associated $D\bar{D}\to \pi\pi$ transition amplitude. The strong phase of the resulting decay amplitude has a sharp sign change at the $D\bar D$ threshold, changing the sign of the CP asymmetry, as it is observed in the data. We conclude that the hadronic charm loop and rescattering mechanism are relevant to the broadening of the CP asymmetry around the $\chi_c^0$ resonance in the $\pi\pi$ channel. This novel mechanism provides a possible interpretation of the CP asymmetry defier experimental result presented by the LHCb collaboration for the $B^\pm \to \pi^-\pi^+\pi^\pm$ decay in the high mass region

Síndrome de Erasmus: uma Entidade Pouco Reconhecida

We present a case of a 33-year-old male who worked as a plumber and a locksmith. The patient presented with diffuse myalgia and asthenia, skin sclerosis and puffy fingers, Raynaud's phenomenon, exertional dyspnea and erectile dysfunction. The presence of specific autoantibodies enabled the diagnosis of systemic sclerosis. Chest-computed tomography revealed upper lobe consolidation. After extensive evaluation, the multidisciplinary interstitial lung disease team concluded that the patient also had advanced silicosis. After a year, there was significant clinical, radiologic, and functional deterioration of the lung disease. The patient was referred for lung transplant. Silica inhalation is the cause of silicosis but is also implicated in the development of systemic sclerosis (Erasmus syndrome). Although they share a common risk factor, it is rare to find both diseases co-existing. We present this case of a young patient where both diseases presented aggressively in order to raise awareness to this association.Apresentamos o caso de um homem de 33 anos que trabalhava como canalizador e serralheiro. Apresentava mialgias e astenia, esclerose cutânea e puffy fingers, fenómeno de Raynaud, dispneia de esforço e disfunção erétil. A presença de autoanticorpos específicos permitiu o diagnóstico de esclerose sistémica. A tomografia computadorizada de tórax revelou consolidações dos lobos superiores. Após extensa avaliação, o grupo multidisciplinar de doenças do interstício concluiu que o doente tinha também silicose avançada. Após um ano, houve agravamento clínico, radiológico e funcional significativo da doença pulmonar. O doente foi encaminhado para transplante pulmonar. A inalação de sílica é a causa da silicose, mas também está implicada no desenvolvimento da esclerose sistémica (síndrome de Erasmus). Embora tenham um fator de risco comum, é raro encontrar as duas doenças simultaneamente. Apresentamos o caso de um doente jovem em que ambas as doenças se apresentaram de forma agressiva para alertar sobre esta associação.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Preliminary results on the Gaulish terra sigillata from the fish-salting production centre at Tróia

The fish-salting production centre at Troia received various imports of terra sigillata from the 1st century to the 6th century. Although it did not reach the significance of the African Red Slip Ware, Gaulish Sigillata is the second most important group of imports of this category on this archaeological site. The recognition of a Tiberian foundation level with Gaulish vessels dates the arrival of this tableware. Nevertheless, we agree with the assumption of previous studies that the majority of the pieces from this assemblage corresponds to the Claudian period onwards. The purpose of this paper is to present the current state regarding terra sigillata studies at Troia, more precisely related to the Gaulish productions and their significance in the largest fish-salting centre of the Roman Empire.O centro de produção de salgas de peixe de Troia recebeu inúmeras importações de terra sigillata entre o século I d.C. e o século VI d.C. Ainda que não tenha atingido a proporção da terra sigillata africana, a terra sigillata gálica é o segundo maior grupo de importação desta categoria neste sítio arqueológico. A identificação de um nível de fundação tiberiano com taças gálicas data a chegada desta cerâmica de mesa. Não obstante, validamos as conclusões obtidas em estudos anteriores que referem que a maioria das peças desta colecção deverá ser integrada a partir do período cláudio.
