Assessment of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Human Rights Development Program (HRDP) in Protecting the Community from Abuse in Tabaco City, Albay, Philippines

Enforcing the law serves as the key function of the police officer to maintain peace and order, thus, ensuring strict conformance with human rights. This study was conducted to assess the implementation of the PNP Human Rights Development Program in Tabaco City, Albay, Philippines, along with Institutional policy development, capability building on human rights protection, prevention and control measures on abuse of human rights, and strengthening of partnership and cooperation with multi-sectoral organizations for human rights compliance. It also identified the problems encountered and formulated an action plan that aims to further enhance the implementation of the program. The personnel assigned at the PNP Human Rights Development Program in Tabaco City selected Community Officials, and members of the community were the respondents of the study. Hence, the study revealed that the community and other partner stakeholders have understood and accepted the principles of the programs implemented. Therefore, the primary objectives of the PNP in gaining the trust and confidence of the community were achieved. The study recommends the sustainability of the program through inculcating greater social responsibility, intervening appropriately, and acquiring useful and timely information for implementation of anti-human rights abuse programs which shall be continuously participated by the community with enhanced multi-sectoral collaboration to achieve a safer community free from abuse

Power Point y Rendimiento Académico: Asignatura Costos y Presupuestos - Universidad Particular de Lima, 2019

Esta investigación se centrará en la práctica de docencia universitaria haciendo uso didáctico de las herramientas TIC´s, de la variedad que existen; como es el uso de la multimedia y en ella las presentaciones con diapositivas de PowerPoint, las famosas PPTs, herramienta didácticamente muy utilizada en los procesos de enseñanza; teniendo así que adaptarse el binomio profesor-estudiante a las exigencias de la institución, por ser parte de las normas académicas internas el uso de las PPTs como herramienta didáctica en el dictado de clases. Se explicarán las dificultades que se presentan en el uso de esta estrategia de enseñanza cuando se quiere involucrar en el entorno de análisis y reflexión al binomio docente-estudiante, resultando muchas veces para el estudiante una herramienta no muy didáctica en sus procesos de aprendizaje, afectando esto último en su Rendimiento Académico. Se explicará específicamente sobre alumnos que cursan la Asignatura Costos y Presupuestos, en la Facultad de Ingeniería en una Universidad Privada en Lima, siendo este nuestro principal objetivo, para ello se empleará el método descriptivo correlacional de corte transversal en un universo poblacional de 110 estudiantes donde se extraerá una muestra de 86 alumnos cursando la asignatura de Costos y Presupuestos. Analysis of Philippine National Police Administrative Cases in Police Regional Office V

The safety of the community and the degree of law and order in the state were based mainly on the efficiency of the duties and functions performed by the agent of the state. Being a public officer with state-given powers, a police officer must strictly adhere to organizational discipline. The study aims to determine the prevalent Administrative Cases in Police Regional Office 5 for CY 2019 to 2021 and identify the factors leading to the commission of administrative offenses based on the available data on the nature of cases, specific offenses, and disposition of administrative cases. It will also analyze the effects of decided administrative cases on police officers’ work performance, social relationships, and family relations. Content analysis on reliable data on the nature of cases and specific offenses and qualitative method with a phenomenological approach based on the responses of the participants were utilized to analyze the factors and effects of decided administrative cases on police officers. The study revealed that negligence, incompetency, anger management, and sexual misconduct are among the factors leading to the commission of the administrative offense. The study concludes that neglect of duty (nonfeasance) and misconduct (malfeasance) are the two (2) prevalent administrative offenses committed by a police officer. There is a need for cohesive preventive measures that enhance police discipline based on morale and spiritual upliftment, psycho-social intervention program and skill-focused activities to address the increasing number of administrative cases in PRO5

Comparative efficacy and safety of targeted therapies for BRAF-mutant unresectable or metastatic melanoma: Results from a systematic literature review and a network meta-analysis

Background: The objective of this study was to estimate the relative efficacy and safety of targeted therapies for the treatment of metastatic melanoma using a network meta-analysis (NMA). Methods: A systematic literature review (SLR) identified studies in Medline, Embase and Cochrane published until November 2020. Screening used prespecified eligibility criteria. Following a transitivity assessment across included studies, Bayesian NMA was conducted. Results: A total of 43 publications reporting 15 targeted therapy trials and 42 reporting 18 immunotherapy trials were retained from the SLR and considered for the NMA. Due to substantial between-study heterogeneity with immunotherapy trials, the analysis considered a network restricted to targeted therapies. Among combination therapies, encorafenib + binimetinib was superior to dabrafenib + trametinib for overall response rate (OR = 1.86; 95 % credible interval [CrI] 1.10, 3.17), superior to vemurafenib + cobimetinib with fewer serious adverse events (SAEs) (OR = 0.51; 95 % CrI 0.29, 0.91) and fewer discontinuations due to AEs (OR = 0.45; 95 % CrI 0.21, 0.96), and superior to atezolizumab + vemurafenib + cobimetinib with fewer SAEs (OR = 0.41; 95 % CrI 0.21, 0.82). Atezolizumab + vemurafenib + cobimetinib and encorafenib + binimetinib were generally comparable for efficacy endpoints. Among double combination therapies, encorafenib + binimetinib showed high probabilities of being better for all efficacy and safety endpoints. Conclusions: This NMA confirms that combination therapies are more efficacious than monotherapies. Encorafenib + binimetinib has a favourable efficacy profile compared to other double combination therapies and a favourable safety profile compared to both double and triple combination therapies

A lanostane aldehyde from Momordica charantia

A new lanostane aldehyde, charantal (1), was isolated from the ethanolic leaf extract of Momordica charantia together with the known compound, 2,4-bis(2-phenylpropan-2-yl)phenol (2). The structure of compound 1 was elucidated by extensive 1D and 2D NMR and MS experiments.
