    Ritt's theory on the unit disk

    The aim of this paper is to revisit Ritt's theory from a topological perspective by extensively using the concept of fundamental groups. This enables us to regard the theory as an example which illustrates many ideas of a letter of Grothendieck and to put Ritt's theory into a more general analytic setting. In particular, Ritt's theory on the unit disk will be carefully developed and a special class of finite Blaschke products will be introduced as the counterpart of Chebyshev polynomials in Ritt's theory. These finite Blaschke products will be shown to be closely related to the elliptic rational functions, which are of great importance in the filter design theory.published_or_final_versio

    The insect baculovirus expression system is a valuable tool for the production of vaccine. Many subunit vaccines have been expressed in this system. The first vaccine produced in insect cells for animal use is now in the market. In this study, we reviewed recent progress of animal’s vaccine production for different expression levels and baculovirus genome stability, characteristic features of baculovirus expression vector system (BVES), virus link particles, baculovirus expression in mammalian cell and methodology of produce subunit vaccines. This review showed that BVES is a fantastic tool for vaccine development and it has wonderful feature for future animal vaccine development.Key words: Baculovirus expression system, vaccine, subunit vaccine, DNA vaccine

    Biosensor Based on Ultrasmall MoS2 Nanoparticles for Electrochemical Detection of H2O2 Released by Cells at the Nanomolar Level

    Monodispersed surfactant-free MoS2 nanoparticles with sizes of less than 2 nm were prepared from bulk MoS2 by simple ultrasonication and gradient centrifugation. The ultrasmall MoS2 nanoparticles expose a large fraction of edge sites, along with their high surface area, which lead to attractive electrocatalytic activity for reduction of H2O2. An extremely sensitive H2O2 biosensor based on MoS2 nanoparticles with a real determination limit as low as 2.5 nM and wide linear range of 5 orders of magnitude was constructed. On the basis of this biosensor, the trace amount of H2O2 released from Raw 264.7 cells was successfully recorded, and an efficient glucose biosensor was also fabricated.     Identification of genes differentially expressed in Jining Grey and Liaoning Cashmere goats ovaries

    To search for genes controlling high prolificacy of Chinese indigenous goats, differential display reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (DDRT-PCR) was used to screen differentially expressed cDNA bands in the sexually matured ovaries of 3-year-old prolific Jining Grey goats and monotocous Liaoning Cashmere goats with 24 combinations of three anchored primers and eight arbitrary primers. 22 expressed sequence tags (ESTs) were proved to be the positive bands by Northern hybridization. They comprised 10 known ESTs and 12 ESTs without homologous sequences in the GenBank.     Fast Distributed Approximation for Max-Cut

    Finding a maximum cut is a fundamental task in many computational settings. Surprisingly, it has been insufficiently studied in the classic distributed settings, where vertices communicate by synchronously sending messages to their neighbors according to the underlying graph, known as the LOCAL\mathcal{LOCAL} or CONGEST\mathcal{CONGEST} models. We amend this by obtaining almost optimal algorithms for Max-Cut on a wide class of graphs in these models. In particular, for any ϵ>0\epsilon > 0, we develop randomized approximation algorithms achieving a ratio of (1ϵ)(1-\epsilon) to the optimum for Max-Cut on bipartite graphs in the CONGEST\mathcal{CONGEST} model, and on general graphs in the LOCAL\mathcal{LOCAL} model. We further present efficient deterministic algorithms, including a 1/31/3-approximation for Max-Dicut in our models, thus improving the best known (randomized) ratio of 1/41/4. Our algorithms make non-trivial use of the greedy approach of Buchbinder et al. (SIAM Journal on Computing, 2015) for maximizing an unconstrained (non-monotone) submodular function, which may be of independent interest

    The increasing growth of the seafood processing industries considerably requires more industrial process activities and water consumption. It is estimated that approximately 10–40 m3 of wastewater is generated from those industries for processing one-tonne of raw materials. Due to limitations and regulations in natural resources utilization, a suitable and systematic wastewater treatment plant is very important to meet rigorous discharge standards. As a result of food waste biodegradability, the biological treatment and some extent of swim-bed technology, including a novel acryl-fibre (biofilm) material might be used effectively to meet the effluent discharge criteria.     Postnatal expression of myostain (MSTN) and myogenin (MYoG) genes in Hu sheep of China

    The study of candidate genes is an important tool to identify genes associated with economic traits. Skeletal muscle development is an important physiological process in meat animals, and it directly affects meat production. The expression of myostain (MSTN) and myogenin (MYoG) genes in longissimus dorsi, during the early growth stage of Hu sheep, was studied by semi-quantitative Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The results demonstrate that age and gender were playing a very important role in the expression of sheep muscle. MSTN and MYOG genes showed similar variation pattern for the male and female. The expression level of the MSTN and MYoG genes all showed a positive correlation with live weight, carcass weight and meat percentage, but only showed a significant relationship with meat percentage.
