    This research aims to describe the father's roles in children's development and education and the impact of the father's involvement within their process. This is a descriptive qualitative research employing fathers in Kelurahan Labuhan Ratu Bandar Lampung as the informants taken by purposive sampling technique. The result of the research shows that the father's roles in children's development and education include teaching children on self-control and social values. In addition, the father's involvement in children's development and education gives a positive impact to the children' cognitive, emotional, and social aspects, as well as their physical condition

    Analysis of Presupposition in John Mulaney’s Stand Up Comedy

    This study aims to analyze the types of presupposition used in Stand Up Comedy “There's a Horse in The Hospital” By John Mulaney on YouTube and to describe the most dominant type of presupposition by using Yule’s theory. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The data were examined in the form of words, sentences or utterances that contain presuppositions. The findings showed that there were 31 data of presuppositions which consisted of 18 existential presuppositions, 4 factive presuppositions, 4 lexical presuppositions, 2 structural presuppositions, 1 non-factive presupposition, and 2 counterfactual presuppositions. Existential presupposition is the most dominant type which can be seen from the larger amount and percentage of data than others

    Teachers\u27 Communicative Activities in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (Tefl): a Study at Sman 9 Bandar Lampung

    The research aimed to find out the kinds of communicative activities implemented by English teachers in TEFL at SMAN 9 Bandar Lampung and the dominant communicative activity of each English skill implemented by the teachers. This was a kind of descriptive quantitative research. The technique in collecting data was the direct observation of the English teachers in TEFL at the first, second and third years of SMAN 9 Bandar Lampung. There were three teachers as the sample of the research chosen by using purposive sampling technique. The researcher used the checklist by putting tallies to certain columns. There were 42 items in the checklist of communicative activities implemented by the teachers. The result of the research shows that there are 24 communicative activities implemented by the English teachers at SMAN 9 Bandar Lampung. The research also reveals that the dominant communicative activity of each English skill implemented in TEFL at SMAN 9 Bandar Lampung is teachers\u27 asking the question in speaking, note-taking in listening, pre-question in reading, and making sentences in writing

    Penelitian ini mencoba untuk mengetahui jenis kesalahan tata bahasa preposisi waktu dan tempat, dan untuk mengetahui persentase kesalahan siswa kelas X Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Bandar Lampung, Lampung Indonesia. Desain penelitian ini deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan kerangka analisis kesalahan (EA). Partisipan penelitian berjumlah 31 siswa yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan dari dokumentasi tulisan karangan siswa dan dianalisis menggunakan Surface Strategy Taxonomy untuk mengkategorikannya. Selain itu penulis menghitung proporsi kesalahan yang ditemukan. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa siswa membuat 27 item (25%) omission, 25 item (24%) addition, 30 item (28%) misformation, 24 item (23%) misordering. Kesalahan misformation paling banyak ditemukan, sedangkan kesalahan misordering ditemukan palingsedikit. Kesalahan tersebut sering disebabkan oleh interferensi bahasa pertama, kecerobohan, dan terjemahan harfiah. Implikasi pedagogis tertentu bersama dengan saran penelitian juga dibahas
