    The improved phytoextraction of lead (Pb) and the growth of maize (Zeamays L.): the role of plant growth regulators (GA3 and IAA) and EDTA alone and in combinations.

    This investigation was made to examine the role of gibberellic acid (GA(3)), indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and EDTA in improving phytoextraction of the Pb and plant growth on Pb added soil. GA(3), IAA and EDTA were applied separately and in combinations. GA(3) and IAA were applied as foliar spray and seed soaking. EDTA was applied in single and split doses. Analysis of the Pb in different parts of plant was carried out using atomic absorption/flame spectrophotometer. EDTA significantly reduced the plant growth and dry biomass, whereas GA(3) and IAA foliar spray increased it significantly when compared with control (only Pb added soil). In combined treatments of EDTA+GA(3) and EDTA+IAA, the growth and biomass was restored, which shows that GA(3) and IAA did compensate the negative effect of EDTA on plant growth. The separate treatments of EDTA, GA(3) and IAA increased the Pb uptake and translocation significantly moreover in combine treatments, synergistic effect was found and remarkable increase in Pb uptake and translocation into shoot was observed. EDTA increased the Pb uptake but declined the biomass; subsequently the total Pb accumulation was decreased in plant. The maximum total Pb was found in combined treatment of EDTA+GA(3). These findings suggest more investigation to find a combination of GA(3) with a very low concentration of EDTA, as in high concentration it causes soil and ground water pollution

    Identification and expression analysis of CBF/DREB1 and COR15 genes in mutants of Brassica oleracea var. botrytis with enhanced proline production and frost resistance.

    Frost resistant mutants of Brassica oleracea var. botrytis were investigated for the presence of CBF/DREB1 and COR15a gene products and induced frost resistance. Total RNA of clones was isolated after 3 h, 6 h, 24 h and 14 d acclimation at 4 °C and proteins and free proline were isolated after 14 d acclimation. cDNA was produced using RT-PCR and the first CBF gene in B. oleracea detected and did quantify. Through SDS-PAGE and Western blotting, the COR15a protein was detected for the first time in B. oleracea. The results confirmed the first report of the presence of BoCBF/DREB1 in B. oleracea and this only appeared under cold acclimation. The sequence analysis of predicted amino acids revealed a very high homology (90%) with CBF sequences of other Brassica species (BnCBF5/DREB1, BrDREB1 and BjDREB1B) and homology reduced to 67% when compared to plants other than Brassicas. BoCBF/DREB1 transcript levels increased up to 24 h acclimation and then declined. Some mutants showed BoCBF/DREB1 expression at 3 h while others only after 6 h and 24 h acclimation. The genotypes showed positive significant correlation between BoCBF/DREB1 expression and frost resistance (R(2) = 0.9343). The proline level under acclimation increased about 8 fold and demonstrated positive and significant correlation with BoCBF/DREB1 expression. Proline also showed positive and significant correlation with frost resistance under cold acclimation but very not under non-acclimation. All clones were positive for COR15a protein after 14 d cold acclimation and expression correlated with frost resistance. Under non-acclimation COR15a was constitutively expressed in 3 mutants

Padahal dengan mengetahui dan memahami karakter, seseorang bisa mengetahui kekurangan dan kelebihan diri serta mengembangkan potensi yang selama ini terpendam. Salah satu cara yang paling mudah dan sederhana yaitu dengan analisis tulisan tangan (grafologi). Karena setiap tulisan tangan seseorang mempunyai ciri khas masing-masing yang dapat mewakili karakteristik dan kepribadian seseorang. Aplikasi sistem pakar analisis tulisan tangan ini dapat menganalisis tulisan tangan seseorang dengan menerapkan ilmu grafologi menggunakan algoritma fuzzy logic dan menggunakan metodologi Rational Unified Process (RUP). Aplikasi sistem pakar tulisan tangan ini dibangun pada sistem operasi berbasis android yang dapat dijalankan di perangkat seluler kapanpun dan dimanapun.     PENGARUH PEMBINAAN BERKELANJUTAN, SUPERVISI PENGAWAS DAN MOTIVASI KERJA TERHADAP KINERJA GURU DI UPT DISDIKPORA KECAMATAN MAYONG KABUPATEN JEPARA

    Abstract. The objectives of this research are to acknowledge: (1) relationship between coaching and sustained by the principal to teacher performance, (2) relationship between the provision of supervision and supervisors with teacher performance, (3) relationship between motivation with teacher performance, and (4) relationship between supervision supervisor and work motivation with teacher performance variable except coaching sustainability. The sample was all the teachers at a primary school teacher in the district of Jepara regency Mayong number of teachers who became population is 79 people. Result of this research indicate (1) There is no significant positive relationship between coaching and sustained by the principal to teacher performance and contribute effectively is 0%, (2) There is a positive and significant relationship between the provision of supervision and supervisors with teacher performance contribute effective at 5.3%., (3) There is a positive and significant relationship between motivation with teacher performance and provide an effective contribution of 21.2%, (4) There is a positive and significant relationship between supervision supervisor and work motivation with teacher performance variable except coaching sustainability contribute effectively 21.6%.Abstrak.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pembinaan berkelanjutan oleh kepala sekolah dengan kinerja guru, hubungan antara pemberian supervisi pengawas dengan kinerja guru, hubungan antara motivasi dengan kinerja guru, dan hubungan secara bersama-sama antara pembinaan berkelanjutan oleh kepala sekolah, supervisi pengawas, dan motivasi terhadap kinerja guru. Sampel penelitian ini adalah semua guru di guru sekolah dasar di kecamatan mayong kabupaten jepara Jumlah guru yang menjadi populasi adalah 79 orang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan (1) Terdapat hubungan positif dan tidak signifikan antara pembinaan berkelanjutan oleh kepala sekolah dengan kinerja guru dan memberikan sumbangan yang efektif yaitu 0%, (2) Terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara pemberian supervisi pengawas dengan kinerja guru dan memberikan sumbangan yang efektif sebesar 5,3%., (3) Terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara motivasi kerja dengan kinerja guru dan memberikan sumbangan yang efektif sebesar 21,2%, (4) Terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara supervisi pengawas dan motivasi kerja dengan kinerja guru kecuali variable pembinaan keberlanjutan dengan memberikan sumbangan yang efektif sebesar 21,6%.Kata-kata Kunci: Pembinaan Berkelanjutan, Supervisi Pengawas, Motivasi Kerja, Kinerja Gur

    Tingginya tingkat pembangunan di Indonesia membuat lahan pertanian semakin kecil. Salah satu alternatif untuk mencipatakan lahan petanian ditengah tingginya tingkat pembangunan yaitu dengan pertanian hidroponik. Sistem hidroponik yang dapat digunakan yaitu sistem hidroponik Wick, DFT, NFT. Meskipun masalah lahan pertanian cukup teratasi dengan pertanian hidroponik tetapi kendala yang banyak terdapat pada pertannian hidroponik yaitu pada musim hujan dan ketika lahan yang digunakan untuk pertanian hidroponik sangat sempit dan tidak terkena sinar matahari. Hal tersebut menyebabkan tanaman tidak dapat berfotosintesis dengan sempurna dikarenakan kurangnya penerimmaan cahaya matahari. Alternatif yang bisa digunakan yaitu dengan penggunaan LED grow light karena penggunaan lampu LED grow light memiliki pengaruh yang baik bagi pertumbbuhan tanaman serta perkembangan tanaman. Salah satu sayuran yang mampu bertumbuh dalam pertanan hidroponik menggunakan LED grow light yaitu sawi hijau atau Caisim. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu perakitan instalasi sistem hidroponik (Wick, NFT, dan DFT); membuat pembeda jarak lampu 20 cm dan 15cm; penyemaian benih, pemberian nutrisi. Parameter yangviii digunakan yaitu tinggi, jumlah daun, lebar daun, berat segar, dan berat basah akar pada Caisim. Hasil terbaik yang telah didapatkan dari semua parameter yaitu tinggi caisim hasil 33,5 cm, jumlah daun didapatkan 20 daun, lebar daun 10,25 cm, berat segar caisim di dapatkan 57,45 gram, dan berat basah akar 4 gram. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pengamatan yang telah dilakukan, hasil yang telah didapatkan dari semua parameter menunjukkan pada perlakuan variasi jarak 15 cm dengan menggunakan sistem hidroponik NFT memberikan hasil terbaik untuk semua paramete

    Pharmacists in Pharmacovigilance: Can Increased Diagnostic Opportunity in Community Settings Translate to Better Vigilance?

    The pharmacy profession has undergone substantial change over the last two to three decades. Whilst medicine supply still remains a central function, pharmacist’s roles and responsibilities have become more clinic and patient focused. In the community (primary care), pharmacists have become important providers of healthcare as Western healthcare policy advocates patient self-care. This has resulted in pharmacists taking on greater responsibility in managing minor illness and the delivery of public health interventions. These roles require pharmacists to more fully use their clinical skills, and often involve diagnosis and therapeutic management. Community pharmacists are now, more than ever before, in a position to identify, record and report medication safety incidents. However, current research suggests that diagnostic ability of community pharmacists is questionable and they infrequently report to local or national schemes. The aim of this paper is to highlight current practice and suggest ways in which community pharmacy can more fully contribute to patient safety

    Evaluating insecticide resistance across African districts to aid malaria control decisions

    Malaria vector control may be compromised by resistance to insecticides in vector populations. Actions to mitigate against resistance rely on surveillance using standard susceptibility tests, but there are large gaps in the monitoring data across Africa. Using a published geostatistical ensemble model, we have generated maps that bridge these gaps and consider the likelihood that resistance exceeds recommended thresholds. Our results show that this model provides more accurate next-year predictions than two simpler approaches. We have used the model to generate district-level maps for the probability that pyrethroid resistance in Anopheles gambiae s.l. exceeds the World Health Organization thresholds for susceptibility and confirmed resistance. In addition, we have mapped the three criteria for the deployment of piperonyl butoxide-treated nets that mitigate against the effects of metabolic resistance to pyrethroids. This includes a critical review of the evidence for presence of cytochrome P450-mediated metabolic resistance mechanisms across Africa.     U–Pb Zircon geochronology of the Cambro-Ordovician metagranites and metavolcanic rocks of central and NW Iberia

    New U–Pb zircon data from metagranites and metavolcanic rocks of the Schist-Graywacke Complex Domain and the Schistose Domain of Galicia Tras-os-Montes Zone from central and NW Iberia contribute to constrain the timing of the Cambro-Ordovician magmatism from Central Iberian and Galicia Tras-os-Montes Zones which occurred between 498 and 462 Ma. The crystallization ages of the metagranites and metavolcanic rocks from the northern Schist-Graywacke Complex Domain are as follows: (a) in west Salamanca, 489 ± 5 Ma for Vitigudino, 486 ± 6 Ma for Fermoselle and 471 ± 7 Ma for Ledesma; (b) in northern Gredos, 498 ± 4 Ma for Castellanos, 492 ± 4 Ma for San Pelayo and 488 ± 3 Ma for Bercimuelle; (c) in Guadarrama, 490 ± 5 Ma for La Estacion I, 489 ± 9 Ma for La Canada, 484 ± 6 Ma for Vegas de Matute (leucocratic), 483 ± 6 Ma for El Cardoso, 482 ± 8 Ma for La Morcuera, 481 ± 9 Ma for Buitrago de Lozoya, 478 ± 7 Ma for La Hoya, 476 ± 5 Ma for Vegas de Matute (melanocratic), 475 ± 5 Ma for Riaza, 473 ± 8 Ma for La Estacion II and 462 ± 11 Ma for La Berzosa; and (d) in Toledo, 489 ± 7 Ma for Mohares and 480 ± 8 Ma for Polan. The crystallization ages of the metagranites from the Schistose Domain of Galicia Tras-os-Montes Zone are 497 ± 6 Ma for Laxe, 486 ± 8 Ma for San Mamede, 482 ± 7 Ma for Bangueses, 481 ± 5 Ma for Noia, 480 ± 10 for Rial de Sabucedo, 476 ± 9 Ma for Vilanova, 475 ± 6 Ma for Pontevedra, 470 ± 6 Ma for Cherpa and 462 ± 8 Ma for Bande.This magmatism is characterized by an average isotopic composition of (87Sr/86Sr)485Ma ≈ 0.712, (eNd)485Ma ≈ -4.1 and (TDM) ≈ 1.62 Ga, and a high zircon inheritance, composed of Ediacaran–Early Cambrian (65 %) and, to a lesser extent, Cryogenian, Tonian, Mesoproterozoic, Orosirian and Archean pre-magmatic cores. Combining our geochronological and isotopic data with others of similar rocks from the European Variscan Belt, it may be deduced that Cambro-Ordovician magmas from this belt were mainly generated by partial melting of Ediacaran–Early Cambrian igneous rocks
