Lagrangian Formulation for Free Mixed-Symmetry Bosonic Gauge Fields in (A)dS(d)
Covariant Lagrangian formulation for free bosonic massless fields of
arbitrary mixed-symmetry type in (A)dS(d) space-time is presented. The analysis
is based on the frame-like formulation of higher-spin field dynamics [1] with
higher-spin fields described as p-forms taking values in appropriate modules of
the (A)dS(d). The problem of finding free field action is reduced to the
analysis of an appropriate differential complex, with the derivation Q
associated with the variation of the action. The constructed action exhibits
additional gauge symmetries in the flat limit in agreement with the general
structure of gauge symmetries for mixed-symmetry fields in Minkowski and
(A)dS(d) spaces.Comment: 17 pages, v2: clarifications added, misprints corrected; v3: minor

Realistic Equations of State for the Primeval Universe
Early universe equations of state including realistic interactions between
constituents are built up. Under certain reasonable assumptions, these
equations are able to generate an inflationary regime prior to the
nucleosynthesis period. The resulting accelerated expansion is intense enough
to solve the flatness and horizon problems. In the cases of curvature parameter
\kappa equal to 0 or +1, the model is able to avoid the initial singularity and
offers a natural explanation for why the universe is in expansion.Comment: 32 pages, 5 figures. Citations added in this version. Accepted EPJ
False-alarm and non-detection probabilities for on-line quality control via HMM
On-line quality control during production calls for monitoring produced
items according to some prescribed strategy. It is reasonable to
assume the existence of system internal non-observable variables so that
the carried out monitoring is only partially reliable. In this note, under
the setting of a Hidden Markov Model (HMM) and assuming that
the evolution of the internal state changes are governed by a two-state
Markov chain, we derive estimates for false-alarm and non-detection
malfunctioning probabilities. Kernel density methods are used to approximate
the stable regime density and the stationary probabilities.
As a side result, alternative monitoring strategies are proposed
Embryonic dormancy in seeds of Bactris gasipaes Kunth (peach-palm)
Bactris gasipaes is a domesticated palm whose fruits are of great importance for the Amazonian people and whose heart of palm is also receiving economic interest in other brazilian and Latin America regions. The aim of this study was verify embryonic dormancy and its correlation with first cataphyll emergence in B. gasipaes seeds collected from four plants at Manaus city and four others at Coari city, both in the Amazonas state, Brazil. After extraction and cleaning, some of the seeds (4 replications of 25 per plant) were sown in a seedbed with a sawdust and sand mixture as substrate, and embryos (4 replications of 10 per plant), after extraction, were inoculated into half strength Murashige and Skoog cultures. Were used 100 seeds and 40 embryo per treatment. Whole seed and embryo germination varied between the different source plants and locations, with the greatest difference observed for the emergence of first cataphyll from seeds in the seedbed. For the most part of variables, results of seed and embryo were positively associated, namely, as one went up the other also, and vice versa. These results suggesting that, at least in part, seed dormancy in Bactris gasipaes is associated with embryonic dormancy. © 2017, Associacao Brasileira de Tecnologia de Sementes. All rights reserved

Evaluation of the concentration of allergens from mites in fur and households dust of dogs with atopic dermatitis
ABSTRACT: This study evaluated the concentration of Der p 1, Der f 1 and Blo t 5 in the fur and households of 20 dogs with atopic dermatitis (AD) and 20 healthy dogs. The diagnosis of AD was clinical based on Favrot’s criteria. Dust samples were collected with a domestic vacuum cleaner. For each site, 1m2 was vacuumed for 2 min. The samples were collected in separate filters, transferred into plastic containers, sealed and kept frozen until ELISA analysis. In the fur of atopic dogs the average concentration of Der p 1 was 0.25μg/g compared to 0.03μg/g in healthy dogs. In households with atopic dogs the highest concentrations of Der p 1 were found in carpets (2.18μg/g), followed by couches (1.53μg/g), beds (1.14μg/g), dogs’ bed linen (0.64μg/g) and floors (0.14μg/g). The concentrations of Der p 1 on carpets, couches and beds were significantly higher than in atopic dogs’ fur (p<0.05). There was no statistical difference when comparing the concentrations of Der f 1 and Blo t 5 in different environments of atopic dogs (p>0.05). The concentrations of Der p 1, Der f 1 and Blo t 5 were equivalent in atopic and non-atopic dog’s households. Among the allergens studied, Der p 1 was the most commonly found, predominantly in carpets and couches
