Main features of Italian banking service: a cross-regional dynamic analysis

    Get PDF
A strategy of exploratory multidimensional statistical analysis about key attributes of banking services is proposed. A static perspective, showing customers evaluation of banking offer as a whole, is followed by a dynamic view, analyzing regional paths across the considered waves, according to the importance and evaluation of the service attributes.

Interaction of proteins in solution from small angle scattering: a perturbative approach

    Get PDF
In this work, an improved methodology for studying interactions of proteins in solution by small-angle scattering, is presented. Unlike the most common approach, where the protein-protein correlation functions gij(r)g_{ij}(r) are approximated by their zero-density limit (i.e. the Boltzmann factor), we propose a more accurate representation of gij(r)g_{ij}(r) which takes into account terms up to the first order in the density expansion of the mean-force potential. This improvement is expected to be particulary effective in the case of strong protein-protein interactions at intermediate concentrations. The method is applied to analyse small angle X-ray scattering data obtained as a function of the ionic strength (from 7 to 507 mM) from acidic solutions of β\beta -Lactoglobuline at the fixed concentration of 10 gL1\rm g L^{-1}. The results are compared with those obtained using the zero-density approximation and show a significant improvement particularly in the more demanding case of low ionic strength.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures, to appear in Biophysical Journal (April 2002) Due to an unfortunate name mismatch, the original submission contained an incorrect sourc

The first “lost year” of Mediterranean sea turtles: dispersal patterns indicate subregional management units for conservation

    No full text
Identifying highly frequented areas is a priority for sea turtle conservation, and the distribution of young individuals in open waters represents a major knowledge gap due to methodological biases. The drift of hatchlings from 38 loggerhead Caretta caretta and 10 green Chelonia mydas turtle nesting sites in the Mediterranean was simulated for the first 6 mo of life, with simulations repeated for 5 different years (2001 through 2005). Results indicate that hatchlings from the Levantine and south-central Mediterranean sites are mainly retained in the same areas of origin, while those from the Ionian area mainly disperse to the Ionian, Adriatic and southcentral Mediterranean areas. Combining hatchling dispersal with existing empirical information on juveniles and adults, a general distribution model among nesting sites, and oceanic and neritic foraging grounds for Mediterranean sea turtles is proposed. The Levantine zone may be particularly key for the conservation of the Mediterranean populations of both species, since it may host the highest concentration of individuals. Subregional management units identified by dispersal patterns may facilitate turtle conservation through a relatively small-scale international approach. In-water studies in specific zones are identified as a research priority for improving current knowledge and informing conservation plans. © Inter-Research 2014

Chapter How to become a pastry chef: a statistical analysis through the company requirements

    Get PDF
The definition of requested requirements by the companies represents one of the key aspects for the entrance of new professional figures. In particular, focusing the attention on food & beverage sector, in this study two job profiles are considered: pastry chef e pastry assistant. Data for this analysis are collected by The AdeccoGroup in Italy in 2016 and 2017. The personal competencies to make capable to face the growing flexibility of the profession are object of specified request cross-sectional to more economic sectors. After a brief description of the database content, the principal objective of the research is to report the most requested requirements for the companies. Other analysis are provided to show possible relationships among these requirements and the previous experience owned by candidates. Finally, a comparison is presented about the competencies requested by the two job figures using descriptive statistics and classification techniques

The interplay of social interaction, individual characteristics and external influence in diffusion of innovation processes: An empirical test in medical settings

    Get PDF
This paper explores mechanisms and drivers of social learning in adoption of uncertain innovations. To this purpose, we use an original dataset of about 900 hospital physicians, involved in prescribing a new drug. Then, we specify an ERG or p* model in order to verify the tendency to exploit different formal and informal relationships with colleagues, providing information or opinions on the new product. We moreover control for the effect of alternative sources of information, i.e. marketing pressure, and antecedents of innovation, i.e. heterogeneity in individual attitude toward new products, on the probability of sending ties

Outsourcing Services in the Italian National Health Service: The Evaluation of Private and Public Operators

AbstractOutsourcing has shown itself worldwide to be a useful tool for improving partnership between private and public companies. The budgetary constraints imposed by the Italian government on health industry are enhancing the urgency to outsource to face costs. Our study deals with the relationship between ASLs (Aziende Sanitarie Locali, the Italian local health authority) and private operators outsourcing in Italy. We studied 44 pharmaceutical companies (with a yearly turnover of about €6 billion) and 34 ASLs (with about 12 million users) to find out the areas in which they used outsourcing, the amount and the frequency of such investment, their satisfaction and, therefore, their future intentions. We analysed the answers in search for possible relationships between size, frequency of use and other features to uncover a possible convergence between public and private interest in outsourcing. To better evaluate the convergence we analyse and compare satisfaction of both the operators involved in outsourcing (ASL and private operators). We aim to offer a representation of the current state of outsourcing in the Italian Healthcare System and a first indication of possible contrasts in the relationship between public and private partners. The results suggest that public and private operator have a different satisfaction level and in particular their expectations are in contrast whit their satisfaction: ASLs are generally more satisfied than pharmaceutical companies, but expect a considerable reduction of outsourced activities; private companies are less satisfied and provide an increase in these activities

Quality service in banking: a longitudinal approach

    Get PDF
The association between service quality and customer satisfaction represents one of the fundamental relationships in marketing research. Although cross-sectional analysis has been commonly applied in such a context, the shift to a more dynamic approach appears to be a worthwhile change. A broad range of statistical methods exist for the management of data that arises from longitudinal designs. Based on pseudo-panel data collected from the banking sector, a latent growth curve model is proposed for the analysis of service quality in order to capture both intra-individual and inter-individual changes in customer satisfaction over time. Results also describe the impact of reliability on overall satisfaction for different customers’ profile

A Multivariate Approach to Facebook Data for Marketing Communication

[EN] The aim of this paper is to propose a method to explore and synthesize social media data in order to aid businesses to make their communication decisions. The research was conducted at the end of 2014 on 5607 Italian Facebook subjects interested in drugs and health. In this study, we refer to the pharmaceutical market that is characterized by strict legal constraints, which prevent any promotional activities (such as advertising) of companies on prescription drugs. Thus, pharmaceutical businesses tend to promote their corporate brand instead of a single product brand. In such context, social media offer the opportunity to gather customers’ information about their attitudes and preferences, helpful to address marketing activities. Through a multivariate statistical approach on Facebook data, we have highlighted the associations existing between TV channels and users’ profiles. Therefore, depending on the value proposition to promote, every business could choose, first, the target group to reach and, then, the nearest suitable channel where to develop the corporate brand communication.Arrigo, E.; Liberati, C.; Mariani, P.
