Few-shot classification in Named Entity Recognition Task
For many natural language processing (NLP) tasks the amount of annotated data
is limited. This urges a need to apply semi-supervised learning techniques,
such as transfer learning or meta-learning. In this work we tackle Named Entity
Recognition (NER) task using Prototypical Network - a metric learning
technique. It learns intermediate representations of words which cluster well
into named entity classes. This property of the model allows classifying words
with extremely limited number of training examples, and can potentially be used
as a zero-shot learning method. By coupling this technique with transfer
learning we achieve well-performing classifiers trained on only 20 instances of
a target class.Comment: In proceedings of the 34th ACM/SIGAPP Symposium on Applied Computin
Production, purification and partial characterization of lipase from Trichoderma Viride
A new strain of lipolytic Trichoderma viride was isolated from the soil on a selective mediumthat contained olive oil as the only source of carbon and energy. The isolated strain was cultivated for lipase production in shake flasks at 30±1oC and the fermentation pattern was studied. The maximum extracellular lipase activity of 7.3 U/mL and the maximum intracellularactivity of 320 U/g mycelium were noted after 48 h. Although maximum fungal biomass was present at 13.6 g/L at 60 h but highest specific growth rate was observed between 6 and 18 h.The extracellular lipase present in the broth was purified 134-folds with an overall yield of 46% through purification procedure of ammonium sulphate precipitation, ion exchange and gelpermeation chromatography. The Km value of the purified enzyme for triolein hydrolysis was found to be 1.229 m.mole/L

Dynamic Deferral of Workload for Capacity Provisioning in Data Centers
Recent increase in energy prices has led researchers to find better ways for
capacity provisioning in data centers to reduce energy wastage due to the
variation in workload. This paper explores the opportunity for cost saving
utilizing the flexibility from the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and proposes
a novel approach for capacity provisioning under bounded latency requirements
of the workload. We investigate how many servers to be kept active and how much
workload to be delayed for energy saving while meeting every deadline. We
present an offline LP formulation for capacity provisioning by dynamic deferral
and give two online algorithms to determine the capacity of the data center and
the assignment of workload to servers dynamically. We prove the feasibility of
the online algorithms and show that their worst case performance are bounded by
a constant factor with respect to the offline formulation. We validate our
algorithms on a MapReduce workload by provisioning capacity on a Hadoop cluster
and show that the algorithms actually perform much better in practice compared
to the naive `follow the workload' provisioning, resulting in 20-40%
cost-savings.Comment: 12 pages, 13 figures, 4 table
Investigating the role of environmental taxes and regulations for renewable energy consumption: evidence from developed economies
The current study aims to explore the role of environmental taxes
and regulations for the renewable energy consumption, focusing
on reporting policy suggestions to overcome climate change
issues and achieve environmental sustainability. The main objective of this paper is to examine the relation between renewable
energy, environmental taxes, environmental technologies, and
environmental regulations in 29 OECD countries during
1996–2018. More precisely, we inspect the impact of the environmental regulations and environmental technologies on the
renewable energy consumption. The authors employ CIPS and
CADF unit root tests, panel Westerlund co-integration test,
FMOLS, and Quantile regression methods for the econometric
analysis. The econometric analysis suggests that the environmental regulations impede the renewable energy consumption in
OECD economies. The study suggests that environmental policy
initiatives should focus on implementing environmental strategies
to inspire cohesiveness between environmental regulations and
the development of environmental technologies in order to promote the renewables industry in the developed countries
Hubungan Kecerdasan Emosi Dan Dukungan Sosial Orang Tua Dengan Prestasi Belajar Siswa SMAN 02 Karanganyar
This study aims to determine the emotional intelligence and social support of parents with high school student achievement. This research involved 101 students of SMAN 02 Karanganyar. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. In this study used a quantitative approach, which collected data using questionnaires which were distributed to these students. Data collection used the average student test scores and 2 scales, namely the emotional intelligence scale which uses aspects of emotional intelligence according to Golemen (2009) and the social support scale based on social support aspects according to Sarafino (1997). The analysis used is the Spearman Rank correlation test using the SPSS for Windows application. The results of the analysis suggest that the relationship between the level of emotional intelligence and learning achievement is a significant result of 0.010 (sig 0.05), meaning that the parent's social support variable and learning achievement variable have a significant positive relationship. It can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between persistence and learning achievement and there is a positive relationship between parental social support and learning achievemen
