Severe leptospirosis in a Dutch traveller returning from the Dominican Republic, October 2011
In October 2011, a case of leptospirosis was identified in a Dutch traveller returning from the Dominican Republic to the Netherlands. The 51-year-old man had aspired muddy water in the ChavĂłn river on 29 September. Twenty days later he presented with fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, arthralgia, headache, conjunctival suffusion and icterus. Leptospira serovar Icterohaemorrhagiae or Australis infection was confirmed ten days later by laboratory testing
Rotating Einstein-Yang-Mills Black Holes
We construct rotating hairy black holes in SU(2) Einstein-Yang-Mills theory.
These stationary axially symmetric black holes are asymptotically flat. They
possess non-trivial non-Abelian gauge fields outside their regular event
horizon, and they carry non-Abelian electric charge. In the limit of vanishing
angular momentum, they emerge from the neutral static spherically symmetric
Einstein-Yang-Mills black holes, labelled by the node number of the gauge field
function. With increasing angular momentum and mass, the non-Abelian electric
charge of the solutions increases, but remains finite. The asymptotic expansion
for these black hole solutions includes non-integer powers of the radial
variable.Comment: 63 pages, 10 figure

Plant Growth Optimization by Vegetable Production System in HI-SEAS Analog Habitat
The Vegetable Production System (Veggie) is a scientific payload designed to support plant growth for food production under microgravity conditions. The configuration of Veggie consists of an LED lighting system with modular rooting pillows designed to contain substrate media and time-release fertilizer. The pillows were designed to be watered passively using capillary principles but have typically been watered manually by the astronauts in low-Earth orbit (LEO). The design of Veggie allows cabin air to be drawn through the plant enclosure for thermal and humidity control and for supplying CO2 to the plants. Since its delivery to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2014, Veggie has undergone several experimental trials by various crews. Ground unit testing of Veggie was conducted during an 8-month Mars analog study in a semi-contained environment of a simulated habitat located at approximately 8,200 feet (2,500 m) elevation on the Mauna Loa volcano on the Island of Hawaii. The Hawaii Space Exploration Analog and Simulation (HI-SEAS) offered conditions (habitat, mission, communications, etc.) intended to simulate a planetary exploration mission. This paper provides data and analyses to show the prospect for optimized use of the current Veggie design for human habitats. Lessons learned during the study may provide opportunities for updating the system design and operational parameters for current Veggie experiments being conducted onboard the ISS and for payloads on future deep space missions
Dose-Ranging Effect of Adjunctive Oral Cannabidiol vs Placebo on Convulsive Seizure Frequency in Dravet Syndrome A Randomized Clinical Trial
Question Is adjunctive cannabidiol at doses of 10 and 20 mg/kg/d
superior to placebo in reducing convulsive seizure frequency in
patients with Dravet syndrome?
Findings This double-blind clinical trial randomized 199 children
with Dravet syndrome to cannabidiol (10 or 20 mg/kg/d) or
matched placebo for 14 weeks. Convulsive seizure frequency
compared with baseline was reduced by 48.7% in the 10-mg/kg/d
cannabidiol group and 45.7% in the 20-mg/kg/d cannabidiol
group vs 26.9% in the placebo group.
Meaning Both doses of adjunctive cannabidiol were similarly
efficacious in reducing convulsive seizures associated with Dravet
syndrome
The Carriage of Multiresistant Bacteria after Travel (COMBAT) prospective cohort study: Methodology and design

Investigation of the ferromagnetic transition in the correlated 4d perovskites SrRuRhO
The solid-solution SrRuRhO () is a
variable-electron-configuration system forming in the nearly-cubic-perovskite
basis, ranging from the ferromagnetic 4 to the enhanced paramagnetic
4. Polycrystalline single-phase samples were obtained over the whole
composition range by a high-pressure-heating technique, followed by
measurements of magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, specific heat,
thermopower, and electrical resistivity. The ferromagnetic order in long range
is gradually suppressed by the Rh substitution and vanishes at .
The electronic term of specific-heat shows unusual behavior near the critical
Rh concentration; the feature does not match even qualitatively with what was
reported for the related perovskites (Sr,Ca)RuO. Furthermore, another
anomaly in the specific heat was observed at .Comment: Accepted for publication in PR
Relationship between foot pronation and rotation of the tibia and femur during walking
ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that the magnitude and timing of peak foot pronation would be predictive of the magnitude and timing of peak rotation of tibia and femur. Thirty subjects who demonstrated a wide range of pronation participated. Threedimensional kinematics of the foot, tibia, and femur segments were recorded during self-selected free walking trials using a six-camera VICON motion analysis system. Regression analysis demonstrated that the magnitude and timing of peak pronation was not predictive of the magnitude and timing of tibial and femoral rotation. The lack of a relationship between peak foot pronation and the rotation of the tibia and femur is contrary to the clinical hypothesis that increased pronation results in greater lower extremity rotation. It would seem, therefore, that the relationship between foot pronation and rotation of the lower extremity segments should be assessed on a patient-by-patient basis
