Intracoronary imaging in PCI for acute coronary syndrome: Insights from British Cardiovascular Intervention Society registry
Background: While previous studies have demonstrated the superiority of ICI-guided PCI over an angiography-based approach, there are limited data on all-comer ACS patients. This study aimed to identify the characteristics and in-hospital outcomes of patients undergoing intracoronary imaging (ICI) guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods: All patient undergoing PCI for ACS in England and Wales between 2006 and 2019 were retrospectively analyzed and stratified according to ICI utilization. The outcomes assessed were in-hospital all-cause mortality and major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) using multivariable logistic regression models. Results: 598,921 patients underwent PCI for ACS, of which 41,716 (7.0 %) had ICI which was predominantly driven by IVUS use (5.6 %). ICI use steadily increased from 1.4 % in 2006 to 13.5 % in 2019. Adjusted odds of mortality (OR 0.69, 95%CI 0.58–0.83) and MACCE (OR 0.77, 95%CI 0.73–0.83) were significantly lower in the ICI group. The association between ICI and improved outcomes varied according to vessel treated with both left main stem (LMS) and LMS/left anterior descending (LAD) PCI associated with significantly lower odds of mortality (OR 0.34, 95%CI 0.27–0.44, OR 0.51 95%CI 0.45–0.56) and MACCE (OR 0.44 95%CI 0.35–0.54, OR 0.67 95%CI 0.62–0.72) respectively. Conclusions: Although ICI use has steadily increased, less than one in seven patients underwent ICI-guided PCI. The association between ICI use and improved in-hospital outcomes was mainly observed in PCI procedures involving LMS and LAD
Cross section of the reaction close to threshold
We have measured inclusive data on -meson production in collisions
at COSY J\"ulich close to the hyperon production threshold and determined the
hyperon-nucleon invariant mass spectra. The spectra were decomposed into three
parts: , and . The cross section for the
channel was found to be much smaller than a previous measurement in
that excess energy region. The data together with previous results at higher
energies are compatible with a phase space dependence.Comment: accepted by Phys. lett. B some typos correcte
Non-equilibrium emission of complex fragments from p+Au collisions at 2.5 GeV proton beam energy
Energy and angular dependence of double differential cross sections
d/ddE was measured for reactions induced by 2.5 GeV protons
on Au target with isotopic identification of light products (H, He, Li, Be, and
B) and with elemental identification of heavier intermediate mass fragments (C,
N, O, F, Ne, Na, Mg, and Al). It was found that two different reaction
mechanisms give comparable contributions to the cross sections. The
intranuclear cascade of nucleon-nucleon collisions followed by evaporation from
an equilibrated residuum describes low energy part of the energy distributions
whereas another reaction mechanism is responsible for high energy part of the
spectra of composite particles. Phenomenological model description of the
differential cross sections by isotropic emission from two moving sources led
to a very good description of all measured data. Values of the extracted
parameters of the emitting sources are compatible with the hypothesis claiming
that the high energy particles emerge from pre-equilibrium processes consisting
in a breakup of the target into three groups of nucleons; small, fast and hot
fireball of 8 nucleons, and two larger, excited prefragments, which
emits the light charged particles and intermediate mass fragments. The smaller
of them contains 20 nucleons and moves with velocity larger than the CM
velocity of the proton projectile and the target. The heavier prefragment
behaves similarly as the heavy residuum of the intranuclear cascade of
nucleon-nucleon collisions. %The mass and charge dependence of the total
production cross %sections was extracted from the above analysis for all
observed %reaction products. This dependence follows the power low behavior

High resolution study of the Lambda p final state interaction in the reaction p + p -> K+ + (Lambda p)
The reaction pp -> K+ + (Lambda p) was measured at Tp=1.953 GeV and Theta = 0
deg with a high missing mass resolution in order to study the Lambda p final
state interaction. The large final state enhancement near the Lambda p
threshold can be described using the standard Jost-function approach. The
singlet and triplet scattering lengths and effective ranges are deduced by
fitting simultaneously the Lambda p invariant mass spectrum and the total cross
section data of the free Lambda p scattering.Comment: submitted to Physics Letters B, 10 pages, 3 figure
Upper limits for a narrow resonance in the reaction p + p -> K^+ + (Lambda p)
The reaction pp -> K^+ + (Lambda p) has been measured at T_p = 1.953 GeV and
\Theta = 0 deg with a high missing mass resolution in order to study the Lambda
p final state interaction. Narrow S = -1 resonances predicted by bag model
calculations are not visible in the missing mass spectrum. Small structures
observed in a previous experiment are not confirmed. Upper limits for the
production cross section of a narrow resonance are deduced for missing masses
between 2058 and 2105 MeV/c^2.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure
Structure effects in Ne-20+Pb-208 quasi-elastic scattering
Preliminary results of an analysis of experiments devoted to a study of the sensitivity of the 20Ne + 208Pb quasi-elastic angular distributions at two near-barrier energies and the previously measured corresponding
barrier distribution to the value of the nuclear quadrupole deformation length of 20Ne are reported
Detailed comparison of the pp -> \pi^+pn and pp -> \pi^+d reactions at 951 MeV
The positively charged pions produced in proton-proton collisions at a beam
momentum of 1640 MeV/c were measured in the forward direction with a high
resolution magnetic spectrograph. The missing mass distribution shows the bound
state (deuteron) clearly separated from the continuum. Despite the very
good resolution, there is no evidence for any significant production of the
system in the spin-singlet state. However, the cross section ratio is about twice as large as
that predicted from -wave final-state-interaction theory and it is suggested
that this is due to -state effects in the system.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figure
Meson Production in p+d Reactions
The production of neutral and charged pions as well as eta mesons is studied
in the Delta and N* resonance region, respectively. Heavy A=3 recoils were
measured with the GEM detector. The differential cross sections covering the
full angular range are compared with model calculations.Comment: 4 pages, latex, 4 figures, talk presented at the XVIIth European
