Comparison of the effect of locking vs standard screws on the mechanical properties of bone-plate constructs in a comminuted diaphyseal fracture model
The purpose of this study was to compare the mechanical properties of bone-plate constructs with locking compression plates (LCP) used either with standard screws or with locking screws on an experimental model of comminuted fracture
Monte Carlo Fitting Of Data From Muon Catalyzed Fusion Experiments In Solid Hydrogen
Applying the classical chi-square fitting procedure for multiparameter systems is in somecases extremely difficult due to the lack of an analytical expression for the theoretical functionsdescribing the system. This paper presents an analysis procedure for experimental datausing theoretical functions generated by Monte Carlo method, each corresponding to definitevalues of the minimization parameters. It was applied for the E742 experiment (TRIUMF,Vancouver, Canada) data analysis with the aim to analyze data from Muon Catalyzed Fusionexperiments (extraction muonic atom scattering parameters and parameters of pd fusion inpdμ molecule)
Approximation of Z2-cocycles and shift dynamical systems
Let G = G{n,, n, 1 n,+,, t >- 0} be a subgroup of all roots of unity generated by exp(21ri/n, ), t >- 0, and le_t r: (X, B, ji) C) be an ergodic transformation with pure point spectrum G. Given a cocycle P , SO:Xza , admitting an approximation with speed 0(l/nl+', e > 0) there exista a Morse cocycle 0 such that the corresponding transformations r and -ro are relatively isomorphic. An effective way of a construction of the Morse cocycle 0 is given. There is a cocycle p oddly approximated with an arbitrarily high speed and without roots. This note delivers examples of <p's admitting an arbitrarily high speed of approximation and such that the power multiplicity function of rn is equal to one and the power rank function is oscillatory. Finally, we also prove that if (p is a Morse cocycle then each proper factor of r,p is rigid. In particular continuous substitutions on two symbols cannot be factors of Morse dynamical systems
Method of Monte Carlo grid for data analysis
This paper presents an analysis procedure for experimental data using
theoretical functions generated by Monte Carlo. Applying the classical
chi-square fitting procedure for some multiparameter systems is extremely
difficult due to a lack of an analytical expression for the theoretical
functions describing the system. The proposed algorithm is based on the least
square method using a grid of Monte Carlo generated functions each
corresponding to definite values of the minimization parameters. It is used for
the E742 experiment (TRIUMF, Vancouver, Canada) data analysis with the aim to
extract muonic atom scattering parameters on solid hydrogen.Comment: 16 pages, 10 figures, submitted to NI
Lack of homologous sequence-specific DNA methylation in response to stable dsRNA expression in mouse oocytes
Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) induces sequence-specific mRNA degradation in most eukaryotic organisms via a conserved pathway known as RNA interference (RNAi). Post-transcriptional gene silencing by RNAi is also connected with transcriptional silencing of cognate sequences. In plants, this transcriptional silencing is associated with sequence-specific DNA methylation. To address whether this mechanism operates in mammalian cells, we used bisulfite sequencing to analyze DNA in mouse oocytes constitutively expressing long dsRNA against the Mos gene. Our data show that long dsRNA induces efficient Mos mRNA knockdown but not CpG and non-CpG DNA methylation of the endogenous Mos sequence in oocytes and early embryos. These data demonstrate that dsRNA does not directly induce DNA methylation in the trans form of this sequence in these mammalian cell
Zagadnienie zła w polemice Tertuliana z Gnozą
The article presents the views of Tertullian on the causes and origin of evil in the context of his polemic with heretics remaining under the influence of Gnostic thought. The analysis refers to the following treatises of Tertullian: Adversus Hermogenem, Adversus Valentinianos, Against Marcion, De anima, Apologeticum. The subject covers the following points: 1. Introduction. 2. the origin of evil. 3. Free will and choice between good and evil. 4. Responsibility for the evil that is the question of rewards and punishments
Ciało - źródło grzechu czy powód do chwały w świetle poglądów Tertuliana
The article considers human body in teaching of Tertullian, one of the famous early Christian writers and an important apologist of Christianity. It consists of five parts: 1. Introduction; 2. Despise body in ancient philosophical thought; 3. Dignity of body according to Tertullian; 4. Human body and responsibility for evil and sin; 5. Summary
Synthesis and Properties of High Tilted Antiferroelectric Esters with Partially Fluorinated Alkoxyalkoxy Terminal Chains
Novel chiral esters with partially fluorinated alkoxyalkoxy terminal chains are described. Their phase transition temperatures, enthalpies, and electrooptical properties are reported. A helical pitch in pure compounds and their mixtures based on selective reflection of light is also characterized
Dynamics, correlations and phases of the micromaser
The micromaser possesses a variety of dynamical phase transitions
parametrized by the flux of atoms and the time-of-flight of the atom within the
cavity. We discuss how these phases may be revealed to an observer outside the
cavity using the long-time correlation length in the atomic beam. Some of the
phase transitions are not reflected in the average excitation level of the
outgoing atom, which is the commonly used observable. The correlation length is
directly related to the leading eigenvalue of the time evolution operator,
which we study in order to elucidate the phase structure. We find that as a
function of the time-of-flight the transition from the thermal to the maser
phase is characterized by a sharp peak in the correlation length. For longer
times-of-flight there is a transition to a phase where the correlation length
grows exponentially with the flux. We present a detailed numerical and
analytical treatment of the different phases and discuss the physics behind
them.Comment: 60 pages, 18 figure files, Latex + \special{} for the figures, (some
