    Estudio comparativo de la recepción británica y española de Felicia Hemans en el siglo XIX

    [Abstract] The popularity enjoyed by Felicia Hemans (1783–1835) in nineteenth-century Britain was determined by the progressive feminization of her literary work and a critical discourse marked by gender bias which together constructed an image of the author as a model of womanhood. While the reception of her male peers within the Spanish literary system has been widely discussed, Hemans’s has been totally neglected. Through a comparative analysis of both receptions, this essay throws light on the singular process through which the encounter with a freshly discovered literary tradition facilitated the unprejudiced inclusion of a female poet in the English Parnassus created by nineteenth-century Spanish authors and critics.[Resumen] La fama de Felicia Hemans (1783-1835) en Gran Bretaña está marcada por un proceso de feminización progresivo de su obra literaria y por un discurso crítico condicionado por prejuicios de género sexual a través de los que se construyó una imagen de la autora como ideal femenino. Existen varios estudios sobre la recepción de los románticos ingleses, pero no hay ningún trabajo dedicado al estudio de la fortuna de Hemans en España.     Time resolving imaging spectroscopy applied to the analysis of plasmas generated by pulsed lasers

Time resolved imaging spectroscopy were used to study the spatial and temporal evolution of LIBS (Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) plasmas generated in Cu substrates by laser pulses of different duration. Long laser pulses (microsecond) and short laser pulses (nanosecond) as well as multipulse emission were used for excitation. Analysis was made by using an imaging spectrometer with time resolved detection. Results show that the use of long laser excitation pulses produce emission spectra with the same signal to noise ratio, but with lower resolution than those produced with shorter ones. The different species generated in LIBS experiments as neutral or single ionized have a different spatial distribution inside the plasma. We demonstrated that using spatial discrimination procedures is possible to obtain spectra with the same signal to noise ratio than those obtained with a gating detector. In this case an appreciable advantage in cost reduction is obtained by replacing the gating detector by a cheap screen.Facultad de Ingenierí

    Optical And Physical Properties Of Er3+-yb3+ Co-doped Tellurite Fibers

    In this work we present results of physical and optical properties of Er3+-Yb3+ co-doped tellurite glasses and fibers. The Double Clad Tellurite Fibers (DCTFs) are based on glasses with the composition: TeO2-WO3-Nb2O5-Na 2O-Al2O3-Er2O3-Yb 2O3. The DCTFs were fabricated by using the rod-in-tube technique and a Heathway drawing tower. The optical absorption spectra (ranging from 350 to 1750 nm) of these fibers were measured using an Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA). The emission spectra, around 1550 nm band, of these fibers (lengths varying from 1 to 60 cm) were obtained by using a 980nm diode laser pump. The optimal Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE) spectra were observed for fiber lengths ranging from 2 to 6 cm.     First recorded case of leucism in the velvet belly lantern shark Etmopterus spinax (Squaliformes: Etmopteridae)

    The capture of a female specimen of the velvet belly lantern shark Etmopterus spinax with abnormal skin coloration is reported. The specimen was captured off northern Spain (Bay of Biscay, North-eastern Atlantic) in 2021 by bottom trawling. The lack of dermal melanophores combined with a normal retinal pigmentation, lead us to considerate the specimen as leucistic. This is the first case of leucism in E. spinax and the second record of colour aberration in the family Etmopteridae. A comprehensive updated review of published literature on albinism and leucism in chondrichthyans is also provided.En prens
