    Machine learning regression on hyperspectral data to estimate multiple water parameters

    In this paper, we present a regression framework involving several machine learning models to estimate water parameters based on hyperspectral data. Measurements from a multi-sensor field campaign, conducted on the River Elbe, Germany, represent the benchmark dataset. It contains hyperspectral data and the five water parameters chlorophyll a, green algae, diatoms, CDOM and turbidity. We apply a PCA for the high-dimensional data as a possible preprocessing step. Then, we evaluate the performance of the regression framework with and without this preprocessing step. The regression results of the framework clearly reveal the potential of estimating water parameters based on hyperspectral data with machine learning. The proposed framework provides the basis for further investigations, such as adapting the framework to estimate water parameters of different inland waters.Comment: This work has been accepted to the IEEE WHISPERS 2018 conference.     Fusion of hyperspectral and ground penetrating radar to estimate soil moisture

    In this contribution, we investigate the potential of hyperspectral data combined with either simulated ground penetrating radar (GPR) or simulated (sensor-like) soil-moisture data to estimate soil moisture. We propose two simulation approaches to extend a given multi-sensor dataset which contains sparse GPR data. In the first approach, simulated GPR data is generated either by an interpolation along the time axis or by a machine learning model. The second approach includes the simulation of soil-moisture along the GPR profile. The soil-moisture estimation is improved significantly by the fusion of hyperspectral and GPR data. In contrast, the combination of simulated, sensor-like soil-moisture values and hyperspectral data achieves the worst regression performance. In conclusion, the estimation of soil moisture with hyperspectral and GPR data engages further investigations.Comment: This work has been accepted to the IEEE WHISPERS 2018 conference. (C) 2018 IEE

    Differential Distributed Space-Time Coding with Imperfect Synchronization

    Differential distributed space-time coding (D-DSTC) has been considered to improve both diversity and data-rate in cooperative communications in the absence of channel information. However, conventionally, it is assumed that relays are perfectly synchronized in the symbol level. In practice, this assumption is easily violated due to the distributed nature of the relay networks. This paper proposes a new differential encoding and decoding process for D-DSTC systems with two relays. The proposed method is robust against synchronization errors and does not require any channel information at the destination. Moreover, the maximum possible diversity and symbol-by-symbol decoding are attained. Simulation results are provided to show the performance of the proposed method for various synchronization errors and the fact that our algorithm is not sensitive to synchronization error.Comment: to appear in IEEE Globecom, 201

    High order variational integrators in the optimal control of mechanical systems

    In recent years, much effort in designing numerical methods for the simulation and optimization of mechanical systems has been put into schemes which are structure preserving. One particular class are variational integrators which are momentum preserving and symplectic. In this article, we develop two high order variational integrators which distinguish themselves in the dimension of the underling space of approximation and we investigate their application to finite-dimensional optimal control problems posed with mechanical systems. The convergence of state and control variables of the approximated problem is shown. Furthermore, by analyzing the adjoint systems of the optimal control problem and its discretized counterpart, we prove that, for these particular integrators, dualization and discretization commute.Comment: 25 pages, 9 figures, 1 table, submitted to DCDS-

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh tiga permasalahan. Pertama, Pemerintah belum mampu memenuhi kebutuhan gula dalam negeri. Kedua, Pabrik gula belum mampu mencapai produktivitas maksimal karena kekurangan pasokan tebu dari petani mitra. Ketiga, motivasi petani dalam berusaha tani tebu masih kurang karena industri gula dianggap belum mampu mensejahterakan petani tebu Secara metodologi, penelitian ini menggunakan metode Kuantitatif Deskriptif dengan pendekatan sosiologi ekonomi, dengan studi kasus di Pabrik Gula (PG) Karangsuwung Kabupaten Cirebon, pemilihan lokasi penelitian ini dikarenakan PG Karangsuwung mampu memenuhi kebutuhan tebunya lebih maksimal dibandingkan PG lainnya yang berada di Kabupaten Cirebon.Pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan metode random sampling dengan jumlah responden 40 petani tebu di wilayah kerja PG. Karangsuwung yang tercatat keanggotaannya di Koperasi Agribisnis (KAB) “Harum Manis”.Data primer diolah menggunakan uji instrument data, uji asumsi klasik, analiasis regresi berganda, koefisien determinasi, uji t dan uji F. Adapun temuan-temuan dalam penelitian ini yaitu. Pertama, responden menganggap kondisi kebijakan pergulaan nasional cukup baik, namun kebijakan harga pokok petani dan kebijakan impor dianggap masih kurang. Kedua, Responden menganggap kemitraan pabrik gula Karangsuwung baik, namun aspek pemasaran dan bagi hasil dianggap masih kurang. Ketiga, motivasi petani dalam berusaha tani tebu dianggap cukup baik terbukti dari peningkatan luas lahan petani mitra dalam lima tahun terakhir. Keempat, kebijakan pergulaan nasional dan kemitraan pabrik gula Karangsuwung berpengaruh signifikan sebaik secara parsial maupun simultan terhadap motivasi petani dalam berusaha tani tebu.     Improving optimal control of grid-connected lithium-ion batteries through more accurate battery and degradation modelling

    The increased deployment of intermittent renewable energy generators opens up opportunities for grid-connected energy storage. Batteries offer significant flexibility but are relatively expensive at present. Battery lifetime is a key factor in the business case, and it depends on usage, but most techno-economic analyses do not account for this. For the first time, this paper quantifies the annual benefits of grid-connected batteries including realistic physical dynamics and nonlinear electrochemical degradation. Three lithium-ion battery models of increasing realism are formulated, and the predicted degradation of each is compared with a large-scale experimental degradation data set (Mat4Bat). A respective improvement in RMS capacity prediction error from 11\% to 5\% is found by increasing the model accuracy. The three models are then used within an optimal control algorithm to perform price arbitrage over one year, including degradation. Results show that the revenue can be increased substantially while degradation can be reduced by using more realistic models. The estimated best case profit using a sophisticated model is a 175% improvement compared with the simplest model. This illustrates that using a simplistic battery model in a techno-economic assessment of grid-connected batteries might substantially underestimate the business case and lead to erroneous conclusions

Simpulan.Kelainan berdasarkan gejala dan tanda klinis untuk kasus- kasus trauma medulla spinalis sering digunakan American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) scale, berdasarkan tipe dan lokasi lesi atau trauma. Tujuan penatalaksanaan pada kasus cedera medula spinalis adalah untuk menjaga sel yang masih hidup agar terhindar dari kerusakan lanjut, memaksimalkan penyembuhan defisit neurologis, stabilisasi vertebrata, dan neurorehabilitasi untuk mengembalikan fungsi tubuh.Terapi yang diberikan telah sesuai dengan guideline yang ada.
