Quantum teleportation via a W state
We investigate two schemes of the quantum teleportation with a state,
which belongs to a different class from a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger class. In
the first scheme, the state is shared by three parties one of whom, called
a sender, performs a Bell measurement. It is shown that quantum information of
an unknown state is split between two parties and recovered with a certain
probability. In the second scheme, a sender takes two particles of the
state and performs positive operator valued measurements in two ways. For two
schemes, we calculate the success probability and the average fidelity. We show
that the average fidelity of the second scheme cannot exceed that of the first

Simple scheme for expanding a polarization-entangled W state by adding one photon
We propose a simple scheme for expanding a polarization-entangled W state. By
mixing a single photon and one of the photons in an n-photon W state at a
polarization-dependent beam splitter (PDBS), we can obtain an (n+1)-photon W
state after post-selection. Our scheme also opens the door for generating

Circulating Irisin Levels Are Not Affected by Coffee Intake: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Irisin, secreted by skeletal muscle and possibly fat, is hypothesized to play an important role in modulating energy expenditure, obesity and metabolism. Coffee consumption also increases energy expenditure and leads to positive metabolic effects, but whether these effects are mediated by irisin remains unknown. The objective of this study was to determine the association between baseline irisin levels and the metabolic profile in humans and to investigate whether consumption of caffeinated coffee alters irisin levels. To this end, a secondary analysis was performed investigating irisin levels at baseline and after eight weeks in 32 healthy, overweight coffee drinkers who were randomized to consumption of 5 cups per day of instant caffeinated coffee, decaffeinated coffee, or water. Spearman correlation and analysis of covariance analyses were performed to identify possible associations. Irisin levels were positively correlated with waist circumference (r = 0.41, p = 0.02), fat mass (r = 0.44, p = 0.01) and CRP (r = 0.47, p = 0.007). Though there was a trend towards increased levels of irisin over time in the caffeinated coffee group (+1.8%) when compared to the placebo group (−4%) this did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.75 for the trend). This first randomized trial failed to reveal any effects of coffee consumption on irisin levels, but a larger trial, appropriately sized on the basis of data provided by this study, is needed to conclusively investigate such a relationship. Generation of Three-Qubit Entangled W-State by Nonlinear Optical State Truncation
We propose an alternative scheme to generate W state via optical state
truncation using quantum scissors. In particular, these states may be generated
through three-mode optical state truncation in a Kerr nonlinear coupler. The
more general three-qubit state may be also produced if the system is driven by

A simple scheme for expanding photonic cluster states for quantum information
We show how an entangled cluster state encoded in the polarization of single
photons can be straightforwardly expanded by deterministically entangling
additional qubits encoded in the path degree of freedom of the constituent
photons. This can be achieved using a polarization--path controlled-phase gate.
We experimentally demonstrate a practical and stable realization of this
approach by using a Sagnac interferometer to entangle a path qubit and
polarization qubit on a single photon. We demonstrate precise control over
phase of the path qubit to change the measurement basis and experimentally
demonstrate properties of measurement-based quantum computing using a 2 photon,
3 qubit cluster state
The states of W-class as shared resources for perfect teleportation and superdense coding
As we know, the states of triqubit systems have two important classes:
GHZ-class and W-class.
In this paper, the states of W-class are considered for teleportation and
superdense coding, and are generalized to multi-particle systems. First we
describe two transformations of the shared resources for teleportation and
superdense coding, which allow many new protocols from some known ones for
that. As an application of these transformations, we obtain a sufficient and
necessary condition for a state of W-class being suitable for perfect
teleportation and superdense coding. As another application, we find that state
can be used to
transmit three classical bits by sending two qubits, which was considered to be
impossible by P. Agrawal and A. Pati [Phys. Rev. A to be published]. We
generalize the states of W-class to multi-qubit systems and multi-particle
systems with higher dimension. We propose two protocols for teleportation and
superdense coding by using W-states of multi-qubit systems that generalize the
protocols by using proposed by P. Agrawal and A. Pati. We obtain an
optimal way to partition some W-states of multi-qubit systems into two

Limits on Interactions between Weakly Interacting Massive Particles and Nucleons Obtained with NaI(Tl) crystal Detectors
Limits on the cross section for weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs)
scattering off nucleons in the NaI(Tl) detectors at the Yangyang Underground
Laboratory are obtained with a 2967.4 kg*day data exposure. Nuclei recoiling
are identified by the pulse shape of scintillating photon signals. Data are
consistent with no nuclear recoil hypothesis, and 90% confidence level upper
limits are set. These limits partially exclude the DAMA/LIBRA region of
WIMP-sodium interaction with the same NaI(Tl) target detector. This 90%
confidence level upper limit on WIMP-nucleon spin-independent cross section is
3.26*10^-4 pb for a WIMP mass at 10 GeV/c^2
Estimating remineralized phosphate and its remineralization rate in the northern East China Sea during Summer 1997 : a snapshot study before Three-Gorges Dam construction

As the northern East China Sea region is vulnerable to climate forcing and anthropogenic impacts, it is important to investigate how the remineralization rate in the northern East China Sea has changed in response to such external forcing. We used an historical hydrographic dataset from August 1997 to obtain a baseline for future comparison. We estimate the amount of remineralized phosphate by decomposing the physical mixing and biogeochemical process effect using water column measurements (temperature, salinity, and phosphate). The estimated remineralized phosphate column inventory ranged from 0.8 to 42.4 mmol P m-2 (mean value of 15.2 ± 12.0 mmol P m-2). Our results suggest that the Tsushima Warm Current was a strong contributor to primary production during the summer of 1997 in the study area. The estimated summer (June - August) remineralization rate in the region before Three-Gorges Dam construction was 18 ± 14 mmol C m-2 d-1.T.
