Leadership of women in islam is still a controversial issue. This is due to several factors, among others: first, the existence of texts (Qur‟an and Hadist) which textually implies virtue for men to be leaders. Secondly, dialectics is happening in the community, both the pros and cons of the position of woman judges. Third, the texts of the Qur‟an (QS.4:34) which indicates the primacy of men become the leader and prophet Muhammad hadits narrated by Abi Bakrah Companions who outwardly show that a people will not prosper if it is led by a women. Would however, some experts scholars allow it. From this views of scholars, will bring up a dialectic on the views of the scholars in Indonesia. For example in this context Majlis Ulama Indonesia (MUI), Ormas Muhammadiyah, and Nahdlatul Ulama as a spectrum of institutions into various ORMAS emphasizes the contextuality and does not apply to an harfiah understanding. Here the condition of women at the time (at the time of the prophet) has not allowed them to handle public affairs, because of lack of knowledge and experience. While at times it‟s a lot of women who have knowledge and experience about the affair. In response to the differences of opinion, the writer wants to give the title JUDGE LEGAL PERSPECTIVE OF WOMEN IN ISLAM (Judge Position of Women in Criminal Cases Decided According to MUI, Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama). So in this study can be formulated as the following formulation of the problem; 1). How to Judge Position Position of Women in Criminal Cases Decided by the MUI, Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama? 2). How does the concept of the future of women judges offered in deciding a criminal case? The method used in this study is a socio-historical method, and seeks to reconstruct istidlal or legal istinbath used MUI, Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama systematically and objectively by collecting data and evaluating and mensistensikan proposition that will be used by the MUI, Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama, in order to obtain a final conclusion in the context of the discourse ness. Based on the results of a study of MUI, Muhammadiyah and NU can be concluded that the law made istimbath three institutions based on konstektualitas thet does‟t apply to the literal understanding. In this context, the condition of women in itun time (at the time of the prophet) did‟t allow them to handle public affairs, due to lack of knowledge and experience, while today has a lot of women who have knowledge and experience on these matter

Bangladesh has emerged as an important supplier of quality readymade garments in the global market. The spectacular growth of garment sector in Bangladesh in recent years has dramatically changed the landscape of export composition of the country. Once heavily dependent on exports of primary products lead by Jute, the economy of Bangladesh is now experiencing almost 76% export contribution from readymade garments (RMG). The sector has now occupied an important place in Bangladesh national economy. Nevertheless, all is not well in this sector. It faces numerous challenges and it is now on the crossroad with the phasing out of quota system, GSP facilities and new provisions of WTO. In this study attempts have been made to find out the ways to face the competitive business environment by the efficient management process towards the lead time reduction. The main purpose of this article is to analyse the business process of the garment sector to find out it’s lead time minimization process. The study has been concluded by the development of a new diagram of business process with the outcome that the other management process in the supply chain is an important factor rather than process management in the lead time minimization process

Awareness, treatment, and control of diabetes in Bangladesh : Evidence from the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey 2017/18

    Get PDF
Background. The prevalence of diabetes is increasing in Bangladesh from ∼5% in 2001 to ∼13% in 2017/18 (∼8.4 million cases). The prevalence of undiagnosed diabetes was also found to be higher at 6% in 2017/18. However, very little is known about the management of diabetes assessed by diabetes awareness, treatment, and control. We aimed to estimate the age-standardised prevalence of awareness, treatment, and control of diabetes and its associated factors. Methods. Cross-sectional data from 1,174 Bangladeshi adults aged 18 years and older available from the most recent nationally representative Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS) 2017–18 were analysed. Outcomes were age-standardised prevalence of awareness, treatment, and control of diabetes, estimated using the direct standardisation. Multilevel mixed-effects Poisson regression models were used to identify factors associated with awareness, treatment, and control of diabetes. Results. Of the respondents we analysed, 30.9% (95% CI, 28.2–33.6) were aware that they had the condition, and 28.2% (95% CI, 25.6–30.7) were receiving treatment. Among those treated for diabetes, 26.5% (95% CI, 19.5–33.5) had controlled diabetes. The prevalence of diabetes awareness, treatment, and control was lower in men than women. Factors positively associated with awareness and treatment were increasing age and hypertension, while factors negatively associated with awareness and treatment were being men and lower education. Factors associated with poor control were secondary education and residing in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions. Conclusions. This study provides evidence of poor management of diabetes in Bangladesh, especially in men. Less than one-third of the people with diabetes were aware of their condition. Just over one-fourth of the people with diabetes were on treatment, and among those who were treated only one-fourth had controlled diabetes. Interventions targeting younger people, in particular men and those with lower education, are urgently needed. Government policies that address structural factors including the cost of diabetes care and that strengthen diabetes management programmes within primary healthcare in Bangladesh are urgently needed

Core-Shell Interface-Oriented Synthesis of Bowl-Structured Hollow Silica Nanospheres Using Self-Assembled ABC Triblock Copolymeric Micelles

© 2018 American Chemical Society. Hollow porous silica nanospheres (HSNs) are emerging classes of cutting-edge nanostructured materials. They have elicited much interest as carriers of active molecule delivery due to their amorphous chemical structure, nontoxic nature, and biocompatibility. Structural development with hierarchical morphology is mostly required to obtain the desired performance. In this context, large through-holes or pore openings on shells are desired so that the postsynthesis loading of active-molecule onto HSNs via a simple immersion method can be facilitated. This study reports the synthesis of HSNs with large through-holes or pore openings on shells, which are subsequently termed bowl-structured hollow porous silica nanospheres (BHSNs). The synthesis of BHSNs was mediated by the core-shell interfaces of the core-shell corona-structured micelles obtained from a commercially available ABC triblock copolymer (polystyrene-b-poly(2-vinylpyridine)-b-poly(ethylene oxide) (PS-P2VP-PEO)). In this synthesis process, polymer@SiO2 composite structure was formed because of the deposition of silica (SiO2) on the micelles' core. The P2VP block played a significant role in the hydrolysis and condensation of the silica precursor, i.e., tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) and then maintaining the shell's growth. The PS core of the micelles built the void spaces. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images revealed a spherical hollow structure with an average particle size of 41.87 ± 3.28 nm. The average diameter of void spaces was 21.71 ± 1.22 nm, and the shell thickness was 10.17 ± 1.68 nm. According to the TEM image analysis, the average large pore was determined to be 15.95 nm. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images further confirmed the presence of large single pores or openings in shells. These were formed as a result of the accumulated ethanol on the PS core acting to prevent the growth of silica

    Get PDF
Background: Despite growing evidence in support of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) among infants in the first 6 months of birth, the debate over the optimal duration of EBF continues. This study examines the effect of termination of EBF during the first 2, 4 and 6 months of birth on a set of adverse health and nutritional outcomes of infants. Methods: Three waves of Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey data were analysed using multivariate regression. The adverse health outcomes were: an episode of diarrhea, fever or acute respiratory infection (ARI) during the 2 weeks prior to the survey. Nutritional outcomes were assessed by stunting (height-for-age), wasting (weight-for-height) and underweight (weight-for-age). Population attributable fraction was calculated to estimate percentages of these six outcomes that could have been prevented by supplying EBF. Results: Fifty-six percent of infants were exclusively breastfed during the first 6 months. Lack of EBF increased the odds of diarrhea, fever and ARI. Among the babies aged 6 months or less 27.37% of diarrhea, 13.24% of fever and 8.94% of ARI could have been prevented if EBF was not discontinued. If EBF was terminated during 0-2 months, 2-4 months the odds of becoming underweight were 2.16 and 2.01 times higher, respectively, than babies for whom EBF was not terminated. Conclusion: Children who are not offered EBF up to 6 months of their birth may suffer from a range of infectious diseases and under-nutrition. Health promotion and other public health interventions should be enhanced to encourage EBF at least up to six-month of birth. Trail registration: Data of this study were collected following the guidelines of ICF International and Bangladesh Medical Research Council. The registration number of data collection is 132,989.0.000 and the data-request was registered on September 11, 2016

The main purpose of this paper is to develop and test the modified SERVQUAL model to measure Malaysian private healthcare quality. A total of 131 participants were selected randomly those visit private hospitals in Malaysia for healthcare facility. Then data were examined using means, correlations, principal component and exploratory factor analysis to establish the modified SERVQUAL scale’s reliability, underlying dimensionality and convergent, discriminant validity. This paper than utilizes the structural equation modeling technique to do confirmatory factor analysis and test the hypothesized positive inter-relationships between customer’s perception and customer satisfaction. This paper reviews and identifies essential service quality variables that are associated with the customer satisfaction in the private hospital. Customer satisfaction should reflect the need of healthcare quality requested by the customers, as direct and indirect relationships exist between personnel support and customer satisfaction and attention to customers and hospital facilities and between hospital facilities and customer satisfaction. The proposed model has been tested on only one private hospital in Malaysia due to short period. Due to this small sample size and the convenient method of data collection, there is a possibility of biasness of the authors may play a role in the outcome of the study. The main contribution of this study is that, it proposes a way to assess quality services in the private hospitals. This study has proposed a conceptual model that need further investigation and opens a way for future research
