Internet of Things (IoT) andĀ theĀ road to happiness

    Get PDF
Purpose: This study aims to provide a systematic review about the Internet of Things (IoT) and its impacts on happiness. It intends to serve as a platform for further research as it is sparse in in-depth analysis. Design/methodology/approach: This systematic review initially observed 2,501 literary articles through the ScienceDirect and WorldCat search engines before narrowing it down to 72 articles based on subject matter relevance in the abstract and keywords. Accounting for duplicates between search engines, the count was reduced to 66 articles. To finally narrow down all the literature used in this systematic review, 66 articles were given a critical readthrough. The count was finally reduced to 53 total articles used in this systematic review. Findings: This paper necessitates the claim that IoT will likely impact many aspects of our everyday lives. Through the literature observed, it was found that IoT will have some significant and positive impacts on people's welfare and lives. The unprecedented nature of IoTs impacts on society should warrant further research moving forward. Research limitations/implications: While the literature presented in this systematic review shows that IoT can positively impact the perceived or explicit happiness of people, the amount of literature found to supplement this argument is still on the lower end. They also necessitate the need for both greater depth and variety in this field of research. Practical implications: Since technology is already a pervasive element of most peopleā€™s contemporary lives, it stands to reason that the most important factors to consider will be in how we might benefit from IoT or, more notably, how IoT can enhance our levels of happiness. A significant implication is its ability to reduce the gap in happiness levels between urban and rural areas. Originality/value: Currently, the literature directly tackling the quantification of IoTs perceived influence on happiness has yet to be truly discussed broadly. This systematic review serves as a starting point for further discussion in the subject matter. In addition, this paper may lead to a better understanding of the IoT technology and how we can best advance and adapt it to the benefits of the society

The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of intradialysis exercise using barbells and Range of Motion (ROM) on the adequacy of hemodialysis in patients with chronic kidney disease in the hemodialysis room of RSIJ Sukapura in 2018. The design of this study uses a design with non-probability pre and post test two groups without control design . The result of the difference in the effectiveness of the adequacy values between the two intervention groups after the intervention was given was the barbell intervention obtained 1,33 with a standard deviation of 0.485, an error standard of 0.114. Whereas in the ROM intervention group 1.67 the standard deviation was 0.485, the standard error was 0.114 and the p-value was 0.047 (> 0.05). Conclusion, there was no significant difference in the value of hemodialysis adequacy between the barbellROM intervention groups after the intervention.   Keywords: Hemodialysis Adequacy, Barbell, Exercise Effectiveness, Intradialysis, Range Of Motion (ROM

A new generation for intelligent anti-internet worm early system detection

Worm requires host computer with an address on the Internet and any of several vulnerabilities to create a big threat environment. We propose intelligent early system detection mechanism for detecting internet worm. The mechanism is combined of three techniques: Failure Connection Detection (FCD) which concerns with detecting the internet worm and stealthy worm in which computer infected by the worm by using Artificial Immune System; and the Traffic Signature Detection (TSD) which responsible for detecting traffic signature for the worm; and the DNA Filtering Detection (DNAFD) which converts traffic signature to DNA signature and sending it to all computer that connected with the router to create a firewall for new worms. Our proposed algorithm can detect difficult stealthy internet worm in addition to detecting unknown internet worm

A multimodal pathway including the basal ganglia in the feline brain

The purpose of this paper is to give an overview of our present knowledge about the feline tecto-thalamo-basal ganglia cortical sensory pathway. We reviewed morphological and electrophysiological studies of the cortical areas, located in ventral bank of the anterior ectosylvian sulcus as well as the region of the insular cortex, the suprageniculate nucleus of the thalamus, caudate nucleus, and the substantia nigra. Microelectrode studies revealed common receptive field properties in all these structures. The receptive fields were extremely large and multisensory, with pronounced sensitivity to motion of visual stimuli. They often demonstrated directional and velocity selectivity. Preference for small visual stimuli was also a frequent finding. However, orientation sensitivity was absent. It became obvious that the structures of the investigated sensory loop exhibit a unique kind of information processing, not found anywhere else in the feline visual system

Server scanning worm detection by using intelligent failure connection algorithm

On July 19th 2001, Code-Red was released to the internet. After fourteen hours the worn infected 36,000 hosts. Internet worn procedure spreads autonomously from one host to another, worm requires host computer with an address on the Internet and any of several vulnerabilities to create a big threat environment. The aim of this study is to propose Server Worm Register (SWD) to register the number of computers that are infected by the worm. Our proposal decreases the false alarm in Intelligent Failure Connection Algorithm (IFCA). Our proposal also works when the computer is infected by the worm and IFCDA detected the worm, many computers that are connected through the internet will receive the warning by using our proposal. We have found IFCA is more reliable by using SWD because it reduced the false alarm

A traffic signature-based algorithm for detecting scanning internet worms

Internet worms that spread autonomously from one host to another cause major problem in todayā€™s networks. On 25th January 2003, ā€œSlammerā€ was released into the internet and after ten minutes the worm infected more than 90% of vulnerable hosts.Worms cause damage to the network by consuming its resources such as bandwidth. In this paper, we propose a method for detecting traffic signature for unknown internet worm. The proposed method has two algorithms. The first part is an Intelligent Failure Connection Algorithm (IFCA) using Artificial Immune System; IFCA is concerned with detecting the internet worm and stealthy worm. In order to reduce the number of false alarm, the impact of normal network activities is involved but TCP failure and ICMP unreachable connection on same IP address are not calculated because the internet worm strategic attack on the different IP address. The second algorithm Traffic Signature Algorithm (TSA) is concerned with capturing traffic signature of the scanning internet worm. In this paper, we show that the proposed method can detect traffic signature for MSBlaster worm

Morris worm showed the Internet community for the first time in 1988 that a worm could bring the Internet down in hours.Worm requires host computer with an address on the Internet and any of several vulnerabilities to create a big threat environment. We propose intelligent early system detection mechanism for detecting internet worm. The mechanism of our technique is concerned with detecting the internet worm and stealthy internet worm. The average of failure connections by using Artificial Immune System (AIS) is the main factor that our technique depends on in detecting the worm. In this paper, we show that our algorithm can detect new types of worms. This paper shows that intelligent Failure Connection Algorithm (IFCA) operation is faster than traditional algorithm in detecting worms

Natural Zeolits and Its Modifications with Protons and Copper As the Catalyst for Esterification of Ethanol with Acetic Acid

Natural zeolite from Cikalong, West Java has been modified by attaching protons and copper (II) to the framework. These materials are characterized by X-Ray Fluourescence (XRF), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR). The results of the analysis with these tools show that the framework of the natural zeolite sample did not change significantly after modification. The catalytic activity of natural zeolite samples and their modified forms were tested as heterogeneous catalysts in esterification of ethanol with acetic acid. The chemical process was carried out at 75 āˆ˜C for 4 hours with the presence of 5% catalyst weight and with the mole ratio of ethanol and acetic acid at 2: 1. Ethyl acetate products formed were analyzed by Gas Chromatography (GC). In the catalytic test it was found that natural zeolites were more active than those modified with acid and copper, although the latter were also slightly better at reuse.   Keywords: Natural Zeolite, Catalyst, Esterification, Modification, Reus
