    Effect of Slip Velocity on a Magnetic Fluid Based Squeeze Film in Rotating Transversely Rough Curved Porous Circular Plates

    This paper studies the effect of slip velocity on a magnetic fluid based squeeze film in rotating rough curved porous circular plates. The studied surfaces are assumed to be transversely rough. The surface of the upper curved plate is calculated using an exponential function and towards the lower curve plate along the surface administered by a secant function. The slip model created by Beavers-Joseph has been used to evaluate the impact of slip velocity. The roughness is designed using the stochastic method of Christensen and Tonder. The results of the related Reynolds type equation are used to determine the pressure distribution after which the final load carrying capacity is calculated. The results confirm the fact that the bearing system displays a better performance as opposed to the traditional fluid based bearing system. The roughness has a staunch impact on the bearing system. For ensuring a better performance, it is suggested that the slip parameter must be set at the minimum level.     Networks and Misallocation: Insurance, Migration, and the Rural-Urban Wage Gap

    We provide an explanation for the large spatial wage disparities and low male migration in India based on the trade-off between consumption-smoothing, provided bycaste-based rural insurance networks, and the income-gains from migration. Our theory generates two key empirically-verified predictions: (i) males in relatively wealthy households within a caste who benefit less from the redistributive (surplus-maximizing)network will be more likely to migrate, and (ii) males in households facing greater rural income-risk (who benefit more from the insurance network) migrate less. Structural estimates show that small improvements in formal insurance decrease the spatial misallocation of labor by substantially increasing migration

    Wakes created by a parton moving through a static and infinitely extended quark-gluon plasma are considered. In contrast to former investigations collisions within the quark-gluon plasma are taken into account using a transport theoretical approach (Boltzmann equation) with a Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook collision term.     Comparison of Compressive Strength and Flexural Capacity between Engineered Cementitious Composites (Bendable Concrete) and Conventional Concrete used in Bangladesh

    The Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) is made of the same ingredients as in regular concrete. The coarse aggregate is replaced with tiny Polyvinyl Alcohol fibres. This structure offers maximum flexibility and it is expected to cost less. It looks exactly like normal concrete, but under excessive strain, the ECC concrete allows, the specially coated network of fibre in the cement to slide within the cement, thus avoiding the inflexibility that causes brittleness and breakage. As this is a special type of concrete there are no defined codes for it, thus for these reasons, the parameters needed are to be obtained using trial and error method. During the composite preparation, sieve analysis was carried out. Composites were reinforced with Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) at the following ratios: 0 % (control), 0.5 %, 1 % and 1.5 %. The cylindrical specimens were subjected to compression and the slab specimens were subjected to flexural test using a Universal Testing Machine, while acquiring data with GOM Correlation Software. Test results reveal that fibre ratio 1% is most acceptable for attaining best compressive strength along with high flexural value. Even though 1% fibre content concrete in the flexural strength test showed 33% less strength of what 1.5% fibre content concrete gained, in the long run, for having the highest compressive strength value (almost 62% more than of 0% fibre content concrete and 15% more than of 1.5% fibre content concrete), 1% fibre content concrete is most suited for constructions

    Increasing Current Account Deficit  (CAD) of India has become a the biggest problem in the development of the Indian Economy.  And has become the world’s third-largest current account deficit facing Country.  It’s facing the danger to reach up to up to  $90 billion.  The main causes for high Current Account Deficit are : 1)      An unending appetite for gold, resulting in huge imports i.e. hundreds of tones of Gold has been imported against the precious and less stock of Foreign Currency .  This underlined that India is the world’s biggest consumer of the Gold.2)      It has played a major role in driving the rupee to a record low. 3)      India imported approximately 860mt.tones of gold in 2012. 4)      Gold and silver imports in April-October, 2013 declined by 12.86 per cent to USD 24 billion compared to USD 28 billion in the same period last year due to the restrictions imposed by the Reserve Bank of India to control the gold imports. The RBI and Central government of Indiatrust that those measures would help to bring down current account deficit. However, the merchants association thinks it would be counterproductive. The RBI restriction would lead to shortage of gold in the domestic market and artificial price rise may take place as well the decline in gold price in international market would not be reflected in local market price because of the RBI order. There is a distinct possibility of gold price rising in domestic market also. These trends in turn would lead to smuggling, black marketing and hoarding of gold which is fatal to the Indian economy. If India can resolve those gold imports related problems, it could solve the country’s economic problems, decline the current account deficit, appreciate the rupee and boost growth

    Thermodynamics of the PNJL model with nonzero baryon and isospin chemical potentials

    We have extended the Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model for two degenerate flavours to include the isospin chemical potential (ÎĽI\mu_I). All the diagonal and mixed derivatives of pressure with respect to the quark number (proportional to baryon number) chemical potential (ÎĽ0\mu_0) and isospin chemical potential upto sixth order have been extracted at ÎĽ0=ÎĽI=0\mu_0 = \mu_I = 0. These derivatives give the generalized susceptibilities with respect to quark and isospin numbers. Similar estimates for the flavour diagonal and off-diagonal susceptibilities are also presented. Comparison to Lattice QCD (LQCD) data of some of these susceptibilities for which LQCD data are available, show similar temperature dependence, though there are some quantitative deviations above the crossover temperature. We have also looked at the effects of instanton induced flavour-mixing coming from the UA(1)U_A(1) chiral symmetry breaking 't Hooft determinant like term in the NJL part of the model. The diagonal quark number and isospin susceptibilities are completely unaffected. The off-diagonal susceptibilities show significant dependence near the crossover. Finally we present the chemical potential dependence of specific heat and speed of sound within the limits of chemical potentials where neither diquarks nor pions can condense.Comment: 15 pages, 7 figures, Added discussions and references, version to appear in Phys.
