    Examining the Efficacy of Cover Crops as an Integrated Pest Management Tool in Organic Farms in the Lower Rio Grande Valley

    The Lower Rio Grande Valley (LRGV) consists of a mix in subtropical and costal habitats, a combination that provides a favorable environment for the animals and plants that inhabit it. This is a problem for organic farmers as they refrain from using synthetic chemicals and therefore led them to seek other methods of dealing with insect herbivory. Of the many alternative methods available, we looked specifically at integrated pest management methods (IPM) to determine their efficacy in reducing insect herbivory among cash crops. Chapter II discusses an experiment performed in an organic farm in Edinburg, Texas consisting of a two-year cover crop study using various summer cover crops alternatively with fall cash crops. Insect population assessments and damage assessments determined these cover crops provide the proceeding cash crops with direct and indirect benefits

    Learning Motion Predictors for Smart Wheelchair using Autoregressive Sparse Gaussian Process

    Constructing a smart wheelchair on a commercially available powered wheelchair (PWC) platform avoids a host of seating, mechanical design and reliability issues but requires methods of predicting and controlling the motion of a device never intended for robotics. Analog joystick inputs are subject to black-box transformations which may produce intuitive and adaptable motion control for human operators, but complicate robotic control approaches; furthermore, installation of standard axle mounted odometers on a commercial PWC is difficult. In this work, we present an integrated hardware and software system for predicting the motion of a commercial PWC platform that does not require any physical or electronic modification of the chair beyond plugging into an industry standard auxiliary input port. This system uses an RGB-D camera and an Arduino interface board to capture motion data, including visual odometry and joystick signals, via ROS communication. Future motion is predicted using an autoregressive sparse Gaussian process model. We evaluate the proposed system on real-world short-term path prediction experiments.     The purpose of this study is to investigate the relation between intellectual capital and firms market value and financial performance on banking company - Return on Equity ( ROE), Return on Assets (ROA) and Growth Revenue (GR). The model that used to measure intellectual capital was using Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAIC) or separately-using Capital Employed (VACA), Human Capital (VAHU), and Structural Capital (STVA. This study used 95 banking company data that listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for five years 2006-2010. This study used multiple linear regression for data analysis. The results showed that intellectual capital (VAIC) has an impact to firms market value and financial performance (ROA and, ROE). VACA and STVA have a positive impact to the market value (MtBV) and financial performance (ROE and ROA) while VAHU has no impact on firms market value ( MtBV) and negatively affects on RO

    : This is a qualitative study and phenomenology approach to describe four points: the school leadership in improving community participation in education; types of community participation in education; the efforts of school principal; supporting factors and obstacles in the principal\u27s efforts to increase community participation in education. Data collection are obtained through in depth interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis can be concluded that: the principal\u27s leadership in promoting community participation in education through better coordination to all so that the community believes in school and the tendency of leadership behavior is the personal and social competence; community participation in education are dominated by direct participation using power to work; the efforts of school principal to improve community participation in education are work together with teachers to participate in the social and religious activities, have deliberation with school community, be responsible, and establish good communication and serve; the factors that support the community participation in education are community has a positive sight to all people who work at school, and Madura\u27s dialect is as the language of communication. The factors of obstacle of the community participation in education are low level of educational background and economic, and difficult to cooperate in terms of educational responsibilities of parents at home

    Dalam berbagai organisasi seperti kantor, sekolah, perguruan tinggi dan industri saat ini masih mempertahankan banyak informasi dalam bentuk dokumen, namun khusus pada organisasi sekolah maka dokumen tentang materi pelajaran, dokumen soal-soal ujian dan koleksi berbagai dokumen lainnya itu sangatlah penting karena dokumen tersebut berisi miliaran informasi. Salah satu cara untuk mengatasi dokumen yang luar biasa banyak adalah analisis cluster dan menyebabkan kebutuhan untuk mengatur seperangkat besar dokumen tersebut kedalam kategori melalui clustering. Hal ini digunakan untuk membagi dokumen yang besar ke dalam kelompok dokumen yang saling berkaitan erat atau memiliki ukuran kesamaan. Kami mengusulkan ukuran kesamaan baru untuk menghitung kesamaan dokumen berbasis teks berdasarkan Term Frequency and Inverse Document Frequency (TF/IDF) menggunakan Vector Space Model, dan menerapkan ukuran kesamaan baru itu ke dalam Clustering Hierarchical Agglomerative. Model ini akan menyediakan dokumen yang memiliki kesamaan dan perhitungan yang akurat serta dapat meningkatkan efektivitas teknik clustering. Hasil dari pengelompokan dokumen sejenis dengan proses clustering diharapkan akan membantu pengguna menemukan informasi yang relevan, lebih cepat, dan akan memungkinkan untuk pencarian dokumen pada arah yang lebih tepat

    The Formation of Submarine Baruna Komba Ridge on Northeast Flores Waters in Relation to Low Anomaly of Marine Magnetism

    There are three submarine ridges found on northeast of Flores waters. One of them is Baruna Komba submarine ridge found on south of Komba (Batutara) Volcano. Two others are Abang and Ibu Komba volcanoes located more to the southeast of the Baruna Komba. The position of the Baruna Komba situated more closely to the active Komba volcano and it is considered that the formation of Baruna Komba ridge is younger than the Abang and Ibu Komba volcanoes. The Baruna Komba also interpreted before as a magmatic volcano. Data from marine magnetism shows that there is a low or negative anomaly on Baruna Komba ridge whereas on Abang and Ibu Komba ridges, they are high and positive anomalies. These data indicate that the Baruna Komba ridge is not a volcanic ridge but it is a submarine ridge formed by a volcanic detritus or non magnetized sedimentation. The low anomaly around these submarine ridges gives northwest to southeast lineation and we interpreted also as a big fault on the west side of these ridges. On the other hand, the Abang and the Ibu Komba ridges are closely related to submarine magmatic volcanoes. Keywords : The Baruna Komba, magmatic volcano, volcanic detritus, Northeast Flores Waters. Di perairan sebelah timur laut pulau Flores ditemukan tiga bukit bawah laut. Salah satunya adalah Baruna Komba sebagai bukit bawah laut yang ditemukan di selatan gunung api Komba. Dua bukit lainnya adalah Abang dan Ibu Komba di sebelah tenggara Baruna Komba. Posisi Baruna Komba terletak lebih dekat dengan gunung api Komba yang masih aktif sehingga ditafsirkan sebagai bukit bawah laut termuda dibandingkan gunung api bawah laut Abang dan Ibu Komba. Baruna Komba ditafsirkan sebelumnya sebagai gunung api juga. Dari data magnetik kelautan menunjukkan bahwa adanya anomali negatif atau rendah di atas Baruna Komba, sedangkan di atas Abang dan Ibu Komba menunjukkan anomali positif atau tinggi. Data magnetik ini menandakan bahwa bukit bawah laut Baruna Komba bukan sebagai gunung api tetapi terbentuk oleh material seperti lava, breksi gunung api dan lahar yang terendapkan sewaktu letusan gunung api Komba. Sebaliknya, bukit bawah laut Abang dan Ibu Komba dapat ditafsirkan sebagai gunung api bawah laut yang bersifat magmatik.     Analisys of lead (Pb) Heavy Metal Content in Climbing Perch Fish (Anabas testudineus) Derived from Rawa Taliwang Lake, West Sumbawa Regency 2021

    Rawa Taliwang Lake as an Nature Park in West Sumbawa Regency have an economic value for the fishermens and fish traders from Climbing Perch fish (Anabas testudinesu). Consuming Heavy metals content in climbing perch fish will be damaged human body. This research aims to analysis of lead (Pb) heavy metal content in climbing perch fish (Anabas testudineus) derived from Rawa Taliwang Lake, West Sumbawa Regency 2021. This research was conducted for two months, starting from September - October 2021. Sampling was carried out by purposive sampling method at 2 research stations. Fish samples were taken are 2 fishes from each station using traditional rattan fish trap. The fish species taken were climbing perch fish. The research sample was then analyzed in the West Nusa Tenggara Health, Testing and Calibration Laboratory. The data analysis was carried out by taking muscle tissue from headsnake fish and then analyzing the content of heavy metal in the from lead using AAS (Atomic Absorbtion Spectrophotometry). The measurement result showed that heavy metal content of lead in climbing perch fish from Rawa Taliwang Lake 0,1 mg/kg (ppm) or still under the maximum standard  by Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) No.5 of 2018 concerning the Maximum Limit of Heavy Metal Contamination in Processed Food which is 0,2 mg/kg

    NAND structure-based Flash memory-made SSDs are turning more popular than HDDs in several applications notably in consumer microelectronics devices and enterprise memory storage devices. The NAND controller is the heart of this system. It acts as a bridge for communication between the host system (usually the Personal Computer system) and the NAND Flash memory storage device. Unarguably, it can be said that it is an essential part of the NAND flash-based memory device and it helps to manage the directory containing file systems. The controller is also accountable for managing system features like wear levelling, error code correction (through ECC), and garbage data collection. With Flash memory devices growing larger in storage space and smaller in area or form-factor, the NAND controller design is converting to a smarter one and complex one, too. Notably, this outline is developed to determine a way to check the features and functionalities that the controller residing into the NAND Flash memory controller provides.
