An existing axiomatization strategy for process algebras modulo bisimulation semantics can be extended so that it can be applied to other behavioural semantics as well. We study term rewriting properties of the resulting axiomatizations. © 2012 The Author. Published by Oxford University Press on behalf of The British Computer Society. All rights reserved
Effects of Heavy-Ion Irradiation on Microstructure of V-4Cr-4Ti Alloy at Moderate Temperatures
V-4Cr-4Ti is promising for first-wall and structural applications in magnetic fusion reactors. Fast neutron sources were used to evaluate postirradiation properties of fusion candidate materials, but FFTF and EBR-II have been shutdown. Under these circumstances, heavy-ion irradiation is an attractive alternative. We used 3-MeV V{sup +} and 4.5-MeV Ni{sup 2+} ions to investigate effects of irradiation on microstructure of V-4Cr-4Ti at 200-420 C. This paper report results of ion irradiation experiments and compare with fast-neutron irradiation data. From TEM, the dominant feature of postirradiation microstructure was a high density of dislocation loops and point- defect clusters. Density and defect size depend on irradiation dose and temperature. Precipitates and voids/bubbles were not observed, even in specimens simultaneous injected with he and exposed to heavy ions. Increased transport of point defects to internal interfaces was observed, as manifested by defect denuded zones along grain boundaries. Defect denuded zones along grain boundaries could lead to segregation of impurities and solutes and formation of precipitates on grain boundaries
Microstructure and Dielectric Properties of Barium-vanadate Glasses
AbstractThe ac and dc conductivity in barium-vanadate glasses was investigated as a function of temperature and frequency with the use of impedance spectroscopy. The topography and microstructure of glasses were investigated by the means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) methods. The XRD results show that all samples are amorphous but microscopy investigation reveals that glasses with greater amount of V2O5 contain nanostructures. The influence of V2O5 quantity on dielectric properties was checked. The activation energy of dc conduction process was evaluated. On the basis of Jonscher universal dielectric response the temperature dependence of conductivity parameters were determined and compared to theoretical models collected by Elliott
The methodology and model for in-process inventories calculation in the conditions of metallurgy production
In the paper a methodology and model for “In-process inventories calculation“ in the metallurgy production conditions is described. The model was designed based on the factors affecting the in-process inventories levels. The inprocess inventories levels have to respect different efficiency of the aggregates in sequence, idle times, technological safety and the production continuity. For the calculation of the in-production inventories levels a dynamic model was designed. In the paper the results are compared from the analyses of real metallurgical production division and this model too

The effect of testing procedure on DSC measurements of Gd-Ti-Zr alloy using ZrO2 container
Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) was applied to determine the critical temperatures of phase transformations in the Gd40Ti30Zr30 alloy (wt%). The comparative measurements were carried out using three types of measuring devices at a temperature RT- 1650°C in the same flowing gas (Ar, 99.9992%) but applying different testing procedures, which allowed obtaining dissimilar oxygen contents in the surrounding atmosphere. The high temperature interaction and reactivity taking place between molten alloy samples and ZrO2 container during DSC tests were evaluated by structural analysis of the resulting interfaces using alloy samples solidified inside the ZrO2 containers. The conducted research has demonstrated methodological difficulties accompanying measurements of the thermophysical properties of Gd-rich alloys by the container-assisted DSC method, particularly when the tests are performed in flowing argon atmosphere with significantly reduced oxygen content. Under non-oxidizing conditions, the degradation of ZrO2 container can take place during DSC testing because the selected Gd40Ti30Zr30 alloy reacts with the ZrO2 to form a continuous interfacial reaction product layer. Under slightly oxidizing conditions, the gadolinium oxide formed in situ on the alloy surface, plays the role of a barrier for direct contact between molten alloy and container and thus may suppress or even prevent the degradation of the container and its subsequent strong bonding with the holder
Evaluation of a Gas Chromatograph-Differential Mobility Spectrometer for Potential Water Monitoring on the International Space Station
Environmental monitoring for manned spaceflight has long depended on archival sampling, which was sufficient for short missions. However, the longer mission durations aboard the International Space Station (ISS) have shown that enhanced, real-time monitoring capabilities are necessary in order to protect both the crewmembers and the spacecraft systems. Over the past several years, a number of real-time environmental monitors have been deployed on the ISS. Currently, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the station air are monitored by the Air Quality Monitor (AQM), a small, lightweight gas chromatograph-differential mobility spectrometer. For water monitoring, real-time monitors are used for total organic carbon (TOC) and biocide analysis. No information on the actual makeup of the TOC is provided presently, however. An improvement to the current state of environmental monitoring could be realized by modifying a single instrument to analyze both air and water. As the AQM currently provides quantitative, compound-specific information for VOCs in air samples, this instrument provides a logical starting point to evaluate the feasibility of this approach. The major hurdle for this effort lies in the liberation of the target analytes from the water matrix. In this presentation, we will discuss our recent studies, in which an electro-thermal vaporization unit has been interfaced with the AQM to analyze target VOCs at the concentrations at which they are routinely detected in archival water samples from the ISS. We will compare the results of these studies with those obtained from the instrumentation routinely used to analyze archival water samples
In-Flight Water Quality Monitoring on the International Space Station (ISS): Measuring Biocide Concentrations with Colorimetric Solid Phase Extraction (CSPE)
The colorimetric water quality monitoring kit (CWQMK) was delivered to the International Space Station (ISS) on STS-128/17A and was initially deployed in September 2009. The kit was flown as a station development test objective (SDTO) experiment to evaluate the acceptability of colorimetric solid phase extraction (CSPE) technology for routine water quality monitoring on the ISS. During the SDTO experiment, water samples from the U.S. water processor assembly (WPA), the U.S. potable water dispenser (PWD), and the Russian system for dispensing ground-supplied water (SVO-ZV) were collected and analyzed with the CWQMK. Samples from the U.S. segment of the ISS were analyzed for molecular iodine, which is the biocide added to water in the WPA. Samples from the SVOZV system were analyzed for ionic silver, the biocide used on the Russian segment of the ISS. In all, thirteen in-flight analysis sessions were completed as part of the SDTO experiment. This paper provides an overview of the experiment and reports the results obtained with the CWQMK. The forward plan for certifying the CWQMK as operational hardware and expanding the capabilities of the kit are also discussed

Organic semiconductor rubrene (C42H28) belongs to most preferred spintronic materials because of the high charge carrier mobility up to 40 cm(2)(V.s)(-1). However, the fabrication of a defect-free, polycrystalline rubrene for spintronic applications represents a difficult task. We report preparation and properties of rubrene thin films deposited by pulsed laser evaporation of solidified solutions. Samples of rubrene dissolved in aromatic solvents toluene, xylene, dichloromethane and 1,1-dichloroethane (0.23-1% wt) were cooled to temperatures in the range of 16.5-163 K and served as targets. The target ablation was provided by a pulsed 1064 nm or 266 nm laser. For films of thickness up to 100 nm deposited on Si, glass and ITO glass substrates, the Raman and AFM data show presence of the mixed crystalline and amorphous rubrene phases. Agglomerates of rubrene crystals are revealed by SEM observation too, and presence of oxide/peroxide (C42H28O2) in the films is concluded from matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-offlight spectroscopic analysis
