Estimation of Uranium in Some Edible and Commercial Plants

    Get PDF
The trace contents of uranium have been estimated in some edible and commercial plants by PTA method. The groups of food plants studied are cereals, pulses, underground vegetables, leafy vegetables, and fruit vegetables. The commercial plants and ingredients taken are betel leaves, tobacco leaves, areca nuts, and lime. Among the different samples studied, the average uranium content, in general, is found to vary from 0.25 to 2.67 pp

Light Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Batteries Using V2O5 Cathodes

Solar energy is one of the most actively pursued renewable energy sources, but like many other sustainable energy sources, its intermittent character means solar cells have to be connected to an energy storage system to balance production and demand. To improve the efficiency of this energy conversion and storage process, photobatteries have recently been proposed where one of the battery electrodes is made from a photoactive material that can directly be charged by light without using solar cells. Here, we present photorechargeable lithium-ion batteries (Photo-LIBs) using photocathodes based on vanadium pentoxide nanofibers mixed with P3HT and rGO additives. These photocathodes support the photocharge separation and transportation process needed to recharge. The proposed Photo-LIBs show capacity enhancements of more than 57% under illumination and can be charged to ∼2.82 V using light and achieve conversion efficiencies of ∼2.6% for 455 nm illumination and ∼0.22% for 1 sun illumination

AlCl3,6H2O/KI/H2O/CH3CN : a new alternate system for dehydration of oximes and amides in hydrated media

    Get PDF
Dehydration of oximes and amides to nitriles was carried out using the AlCl3â6H2O/KI/H2O/CH3CN system. It produced isoquinoline derivatives 8a-c (Bischler Naperialski reaction) when reacted with amides 7a-c in hydrated media. Also, the keto oximes produced anilides (Beckmann rearrangement) with the system under the same reaction conditions

Management of Khalitya through Pracchana followed by Vanadhanyakadi Lepa - A Case Report

Alopecia is caused by androgen and genetic factors. Androgens cause hair follicles to shrink and eventually disappear if they are not addressed. It is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait. A 26-year-old male presented to the Panchakarma OPD Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda and Hospital, Hassan, with complaints of gradual hair loss and scalp itching over a two-year period. It was diagnosed as a case of Khalitya and was treated with Udwartana to Shira Pradesha, Pracchana, and Lepa application. The Norman Hamilton scale, hair pull test and symptoms before and after treatment were used to evaluate the case. Following treatment, there was a significant reduction in symptoms and significant hair growth

Health Monitoring of Induction Motor Through Vibration Analysis

    Get PDF
Machinery monitoring is the process of monitoring a parameter of condition in machinery, such that a significant change is indicative of a failure in development. Temperature, vibration, noise, current, voltage, acoustic emission, etc. – all these measurements are used for machine condition monitoring. Measuring vibration signals of the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) method is widely used to detect machine faults. There are many studies for the prediction of mechanical wear, fault and failure in this area for several decades. Signal processing techniques are used to obtain vital characteristic information from the vibration signals. This paper attempts to summarize the results of an evaluation of vibration analysis techniques as a method for diagnosis for three-phase induction motors

The preparation of 3-oxo-4-azasteroid fromA-nor-3,5-secosteroid-3-oic acid is described in a solventless condition catalysed by Lewis acid under microwave irradiation. We utilized urea as an environmentally benign source for the generation of ammonia for the aza cyclization reaction

Microwave promoted one-pot synthesis of novel A-ring fused steroidal dehydropiperazines

    Get PDF
The preparation of ring-A fused steroidal dehydropiperazine at the 3,4-position is herein described. The novel steroidal dehydropiperazines were prepared from the annulation reaction of ethylenediamine with 3-keto-4-en steroids in a one-pot reaction under microwave irradiation. The key step involves base catalysed aerial oxidation of the C-6 methylene group followed by cyclocondensation of ethylenediamine via Michael addition reaction
