Then, the Dirac spinor Green's functions in the maximally symmetric spaces R^n, S^n and H^n are calculated in terms of intrinsic geometric objects. Also we obtaine wave solutions describing radiation from an imaginary point source located at the Planck distance from the brane.     A relativistic iron emission line from the neutron star low-mass X-ray binary GX 3+1

    We present the results of a spectroscopic study of the Fe K{\alpha} emission of the persistent neutron-star atoll low-mass X-ray binary and type I X-ray burster GX 3+1 with the EPIC-PN on board XMM-Newton. The source shows a flux modulation over several years and we observed it during its fainter phase, which corresponds to an X-ray luminosity of Lx~10^37 ergs/s. When fitted with a two-component model, the X-ray spectrum shows broad residuals at \sim6-7 keV that can be ascribed to an iron K{\alpha} fluorescence line. In addition, lower energy features are observed at \sim3.3 keV, \sim3.9 keV and might originate from Ar XVIII and Ca XIX. The broad iron line feature is well fitted with a relativistically smeared profile. This result is robust against possible systematics caused by instrumental pile-up effects. Assuming that the line is produced by reflection from the inner accretion disk, we infer an inner disk radius of \sim25 Rg and a disk inclination of 35{\deg} < i < 44{\deg}.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures Accepted for publication in Astronomy and Astrophysic

    Propagators for p-forms in AdS_{2p+1} and correlation functions in the AdS_7/(2,0) CFT correspondence

    In AdS_{2p+1} we construct propagators for p-forms whose lagrangians contain terms of the form A / d A. In particular we explore the case of forms satisfying ``self duality in odd dimensions'', and the case of forms with a topological mass term. We point out that the ``complete'' set of maximally symmetric bitensors previously used in all the other propagator papers is incomplete - there exists another bitensor which can and does appear in the formulas for the propagators in this particular case. Nevertheless, its presence does not affect the other propagators computed so far. On the AdS side of the correspondence we compute the 2 and 3 point functions involving the self-dual tensor of the maximal 7d gauged supergravity (sugra), S_{\mu\nu\rho}. Since the 7 dimensional antisymmetric self-dual tensor obeys first order field equations (S + * d S=0), to get a nonvanishing 2 point function we add a certain boundary term (to satisfy the variational principle on a manifold with boundary) to the 7d action. The 3 point functions we compute are of the type SSB and SBB, describing vertex interactions with the gauge fields B_{\mu}.Comment: 21 pages, Latex file, one reference adde

    Radiative corrections to W-boson hadroproduction: higher-order electroweak and supersymmetric effects

    The high accuracy envisaged for future measurements of W-boson production at hadron colliders has to be matched by precise theoretical predictions. We study the impact of electroweak radiative corrections on W-boson production cross sections and differential distributions at the Tevatron and at the LHC. In particular, we include photon-induced processes, which contribute at O(alpha), and leading radiative corrections beyond O(alpha) in the high-energy Sudakov regime and from multi-photon final-state radiation. We furthermore present the calculation of the complete supersymmetric next-to-leading-order electroweak and QCD corrections to W-boson hadroproduction within the MSSM. The supersymmetric corrections turn out to be negligible in the vicinity of the W resonance in general, reaching the percent level only at high lepton transverse momentum and for specific choices of the supersymmetric parameters.Comment: 30 pages, 10 figures, 2 new sections, including a comparison with previous results on multi-photon radiation; version published in PR

    With the help of the general theory of the Heun equation, this paper completes previous work by the authors and other groups on the explicit representation of the massive gravitino propagator in four-dimensional de Sitter space. As a result of our original contribution, all weight functions which multiply the geometric invariants in the gravitino propagator are expressed through Heun functions, and the resulting plots are displayed and discussed after resorting to a suitable truncation in the series expansion of the Heun function. It turns out that there exist two ranges of values of the independent variable in which the weight functions can be divided into dominating and sub-dominating family.Comment: 21 pages, 9 figures.     On Four-point Functions in the CFT/AdS Correspondence

    We discuss the properties of four-point functions in the context of the correspondence between a classical supergravity theory in the bulk of the Anti de Sitter space and quantum conformal field theory at the boundary. The contribution to a four-point function from the exchange of a scalar field of arbitrary mass in AdS space is explicitly identified with that of the corresponding operator in the conformal partial wave expansion of a four-point function on the CFT side. Integral representations are found for the massless vector and graviton exchanges.
