- Field of study
The phi->K+K- decay channel in Pb-Pb collisions at LHC is studied through a
full simulation of the ALICE detector. The study focuses on possible signatures
in this channel of quark-gluon plasma (QGP) formation. On a basis of 10^6
collisions at high centrality some proposed QGP signatures are clearly visible
both in K+K- invariant mass and transverse mass distributions. The high
significance of this observation appears to reside heavily on the use of the
TOF (Time Of Flight) system of ALICE in addition to its central tracking
detectors.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures, to appear in EPJ

- Field of study
The ALICE Time-of-Flight system will be a large area (150m**2) detector made by Multigap RPC (MRPC). T he time digitisation is based on the High Performance TDC chip (HPTDC). Tests carried out on board prototypes are discussed, emphasising the optimisation of the effective time resolution of the chip when working in its Very High Resolution Mode. Lab bench tests and test beam results show that a 20 ps resolution has been achieved

- Field of study
POLAR-2 is a follow-up GRB mission of POLAR, which has observed low levels of polarization degree and a temporal evolution of the polarization angle, indicating that time resolved studies of γ photons polarization are required to constrain theoretical emission models of GRB’s. POLAR-2 detector aim to put in space a detector with one order of magnitude sensitivity improvement versus POLAR. POLAR-2 will be the most sensitive GRB detector covering half of the sky. The instrument, proposed by an international collaboration, was selected to be launched in 2024 to the China Space Station and operate for at least 2 years. POLAR-2 will use same plastic bar concept then POLAR but will be readout by SiPMT. The payload will also feature a spectrometer. The instrument is foreseen to perform detailed polarization measurements of at least 100 GRBs
