The Cyclone meteor radar system for routine wind measurements in the lower thermosphere

A new meteor wind radar system called Cyclone was devised to extend and update the meteor radar network and for unattended operation. The Cyclone meteor radar system obtains information from four directions simultaneously. To automate data processing a special digital device was developed. An algorithm used to determine the Doppler shifts was adopted, which makes it possible to eliminate selectivity with respect to slow velocity meteor drifts. Sepsis at victims with a polytrauma

Вивчено перебіг травматичної хвороби (ТХ) у 450 потерпілих віком від 16 до 85 років, з них 360 – чоловіки, з політравмою (ПТ). Гнійно-септичні ускладнення виникли в 18,7%, сепсис діагностовано в 6,2% з них. Ранні органні і поліорганна дисфункції у пацієнтів з сепсисом виникли в 78,6% спостережень, синдром системної запальної реакції (ССЗР) був у структурі клінічних ознак домінуючим і тривалим протягом всього гострого періоду ТХ. Стан імунореактивності у пацієнтів з сепсисом при ПТ характеризувався гіпердинамічним ССЗР, з наступним вторинним імунодефіцитом. Розвиток сепсису при ПТ ініціює другу хвилю синдрому поліорганної дисфункції (СПОД), який є фатальним і визначає вкрай високу летальність, яка склала в цієї категорії пацієнтів 60,7%; Current of traumatic illness at 450 victims with a polytrauma of the age from 16 till 85, from which 360 are men, is investigated. Early organs and multiple organs' dysfunctions at patients with a sepsis have arisen in 78,6 % of supervisions, the syndrome of system inflammatory reaction was dominant and long in the structure of clinical attributes during all sharp period of traumatic illness. A condition of immunoreactiveness at patients with a sepsis at a polytrauma was characterized by hyperdynamic system inflammatory reaction, with the subsequent secondary immunodeficit. Development of a sepsis at a polytrauma initiates the second wave of a syndrome multiple organs' dysfunctions which is fatal and defines the highest level of mortality which made at this category of patients 60,7 %

Использование терапии на основе виртуальной реальности у пациентов после травматологических хирургических вмешательств: проспективное клиническое исследование

АКТУАЛЬНОСТЬ: Послеоперационная боль является распространенной проблемой. Использование немедикаментозных методов лечения может снизить потребность в лекарственных препаратах. Применение терапии на основе виртуальной реальности (ВР-терапия) широко изучается как метод дополнительного лечения при острой и хронической боли. Отсутствие данных об эффективности методики у пациентов после травматологических хирургических вмешательств стало основанием для проведения данного исследования. ЦЕЛЬ ИССЛЕДОВАНИЯ: Определить эффективность ВР-терапии как метода дополнительного лечения послеоперационной боли у пациентов после травматологических хирургических вмешательств. МАТЕРИАЛЫ И МЕТОДЫ: В проспективное клиническое исследование включены 70 пациентов, поступивших для выполнения плановых травматологических операций. ВР-терапию в комплексе с медикаментозными анальгетическими препаратами применили 35 пациентам. В контрольную группу включено 35 пациентов, которым после выполнения аналогичных хирургических вмешательств обезболивание осуществляли только медикаментозно. Терапию на основе ВР проводили с помощью устройства «Oculus Quest 2». Сеансы по 25 мин выполняли через 3, 7, 12 ч после операции. Оценку эффективности противоболевой терапии осуществляли с помощью числовой рейтинговой шкалы. Реакцию эндокринно-метаболического ответа на боль оценивали по изменению концентрации кортизола и адренокортикотропного гормона (АКТГ). РЕЗУЛЬТАТЫ: Терапия на основе медикаментозной анальгезии в комплексе с сеансами ВР приводила к лучшему качеству обезболивания пациентов после травматологических операций. После сеанса ВР-терапии снижение показателей по шкале самооценки боли составило 44 %. При сравнении с результатами, полученными на следующий день, значения в основной группе были ниже на 22 %. Достоверно снизилась потребность пациентов основной группы в наркотических анальгетиках. Изменение концентрации АКТГ как показателя эндокринно-метаболического ответа в группе с ВР-терапией было на 18 % менее выражено. ВЫВОДЫ: Применение ВР-терапии приводит к уменьшению показателей послеоперационной боли, эндокринно-метаболического ответа и потребности в опиоидных анальгетиках

Selection of the most suitable spectral vegetation indices which are applicable to the remote sensing of the forest species composition and status, is an important task aimed at the evaluation of the large-scale plant communities. There are 80 vegetation indices have been collected in the present work using the hyperspectral data, including that for the Acer platanoides L., A. saccharinum L. and A. pseudoplatanus

High precision beam momentum determination in a synchrotron using a spin resonance method

In order to measure the mass of the eta meson with high accuracy using the d+p -> 3He+eta reaction, the momentum of the circulating deuteron beam in the Cooler Synchrotron COSY of the Forschungszentrum Juelich has to be determined with unprecedented precision. This has been achieved by studying the spin dynamics of the polarized deuteron beam. By depolarizing the beam through the use of an artificially induced spin resonance, it was possible to evaluate its momentum p with a precision of dp/p < 10-4 for a momentum of roughly 3 GeV/c. Discovering study-specific gene regulatory networks

This article has been made available through the Brunel Open Access Publishing Fund.Microarrays are commonly used in biology because of their ability to simultaneously measure thousands of genes under different conditions. Due to their structure, typically containing a high amount of variables but far fewer samples, scalable network analysis techniques are often employed. In particular, consensus approaches have been recently used that combine multiple microarray studies in order to find networks that are more robust. The purpose of this paper, however, is to combine multiple microarray studies to automatically identify subnetworks that are distinctive to specific experimental conditions rather than common to them all. To better understand key regulatory mechanisms and how they change under different conditions, we derive unique networks from multiple independent networks built using glasso which goes beyond standard correlations. This involves calculating cluster prediction accuracies to detect the most predictive genes for a specific set of conditions. We differentiate between accuracies calculated using cross-validation within a selected cluster of studies (the intra prediction accuracy) and those calculated on a set of independent studies belonging to different study clusters (inter prediction accuracy). Finally, we compare our method's results to related state-of-the art techniques. We explore how the proposed pipeline performs on both synthetic data and real data (wheat and Fusarium). Our results show that subnetworks can be identified reliably that are specific to subsets of studies and that these networks reflect key mechanisms that are fundamental to the experimental conditions in each of those subsets

Investigation of oxidation process of mechanically activated ultrafine iron powders

The oxidation of mechanically activated ultrafine iron powders was studied using X-ray powder diffraction and thermogravimetric analyzes. The powders with average particles size of 100 nm were made by the electric explosion of wire, and were subjected to mechanical activation in planetary ball mill for 15 and 40 minutes. It was shown that a certain amount of FeO phase is formed during mechanical activation of ultrafine iron powders. According to thermogravimetric analysis, the oxidation process of non-milled ultrafine iron powders is a complex process and occurs in three stages. The preliminary mechanical activation of powders considerably changes the nature of the iron powders oxidation, leads to increasing in the temperature of oxidation onset and shifts the reaction to higher temperatures. For the milled powders, the oxidation is more simple process and occurs in a single step
