Arthroscopic Double-Row Suture Anchor Repair of Acute Posterior Bony Bankart Lesion

The treatment of anterior shoulder instability is well described with various techniques, including arthroscopic double-row repair, an alternative to open stabilization procedures in high-risk groups. The surgical management of posterior instability in high-risk and athletic populations is a less-explored entity. We describe our technique for an all arthroscopic double-row suture anchor repair of a large posterior bony Bankart lesion. We prefer this technique over percutaneous cannulated screw fixation because the double-row suture technique allows for incorporation of capsular plication with bony fixation in an effort to better restore normal anatomy for capsulolabral complex. Double-row repair capsulolabral repair or fixation of the bony Bankart is performed via a suture-bridge technique. Medial row anchors are placed down the glenoid neck and shuttled around the bony fragment and labrum. The lateral-row anchor is placed at the rim of the native glenoid. This repair technique has been shown to increase the surface area for healing and more closely reconstruct the native anatomic capsulolabral complex footprint, improve force distribution, and potentially impart enhanced posterior stability to the glenohumeral joint

Untargeted identification of wood type-specific markers in particulate matter from wood combustion.

Residential wood combustion emissions are one of the major global sources of particulate and gaseous organic pollutants. However, the detailed chemical compositions of these emissions are poorly characterized due to their highly complex molecular compositions, non-ideal combustion conditions and sample preparation steps. In this study, the particulate organic emissions from a masonry heater using three types of wood logs, namely, beech, birch and spruce, were chemically characterized using thermal desorption in situ derivatization coupled to a GCxGC-ToF/MS system. Untargeted data analyses were performed using the comprehensive measurements. Univariate and multivariate chemometric tools, such as analysis of variance (ANOVA), principal component analysis (PCA) and ANOVA simultaneous component analysis (ASCA), were used to reduce the data to highly significant and wood type-specific features. This study reveals substances not previously considered in the literature as meaningful markers for differentiation among wood types

Introduction: In Mali, armed conflicts and displacements reached unprecedented proportions during the past decade. Conflicts are suspected to impact negatively the availability of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. The goal of the current study was to investigate the availability of these services in conflict zones and zones with concentration of displaced people. Methods: The study was conducted in 2020 on SRH data recorded in HeRAMS Mali 2019 by 2344 primary health facilities. Data was analyzed with SPSS software version 25. Analysis included descriptive examinations and univariate and multivariate logistic regressions. Results: The most available SRH services were newborn care and postnatal consultation (88.4%), family planning (87%) and prenatal care (77.7); the least available were care for rape victims (39%) and antiretroviral treatment (36.7%). The availability of SRH services was better in zones with concentration of displaced people compared to conflict zones. Conclusion: The results of the study, in addition to provide an overview of the availability of SRH services in conflict zones and zones with concentration of displaced people, show the usefulness of HeRAMS 2019 data in understanding SRH problems. They could serve as a basis for future research and interventions
