Psychometric Validation of Croatian Version of the Conditional Reasoning Test for Power
The aim of this study was to conduct a psychometric validation of the Croatian version of the Conditional reasoning test for power (CRT-P). The participants were students from the University of Zagreb. Most of them were psychology students at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The rest were students at one private business school in Zagreb. In order to find evidence for discriminant and convergent validity, we investigated the correlations between CRT-P and (a) an explicit power motive measure (self-report on the Dominance-Prestige Scale); (b) another implicit measure for the power motive (IAT-Pow). To find evidence for the criterion-related validity, the CRT-P results were correlated with peer reports on the Dominance-Prestige Scale. The test yielded fair psychometric characteristics in terms of discrimination and reliability. However, the results indicate a poor validity of the test. Surprisingly, the test did not correlate neither with the criterion variable (peer reports on the Dominance- Prestige Scale), nor with another implicit measure for the power motive (IAT-Pow). In support of it's discriminant validity goes the fact that no correlation was observed with self-reports on the Dominance-Prestige Scale
Psychological background underlying the quality of Croatian studentsā roommate relationship
This study was created as a framework for the website idealni-cimer.hr, an internet interface that uses psychology-grounded instruments to help students find their suitable roommate within half an hour, making the roommate search quick and effective. The results of American research could potentially lead us to wrong conclusions when searching for an ideal roommate of a Croatian student, since findings seem to be culturally specific. A pilot study
and the analyses of focus groups done on 120 Croatian students, suggested that personality is not the only predictor of satisfaction with the roommate relationship. Attitudes towards neatness and the life habits while in a shared apartment also proved to be important. Based on these findings, we designed and assembled a questionnaire and examined its diagnostic validity on a sample of 80 students who were living with a roommate at the time of the study. Analysis that included data of over 300 users of the idealni-cimer.hr interface suggested that the key determinants of roommate relationship satisfaction are attitudes towards neatness, several personality dimensions (conscientiousness, self-discipline, cooperation, extroversion, and neuroticism) and specific life habits (behavior concerning common living space, behavior concerning relationship to roommate, and bringing over guests in the common living space)
Diskordantni rast u dikorionskih blizanaca i rizik prijevremenog poroÄaja
The aim was to determine whether discordant twin growth has an impact on preterm birth in dichorionic pregnancies. This retrospective study included dichorionic twin pregnancies in the period from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2015. The following variables were investigated: maternal age (years), parity, body mass index (kg/m2), week (ā¤366/7 and ā„37) and mode of delivery (vaginal and cesarean section), birth weight (grams) and Apgar score (ā¤7, 8-10). Discordant twin growth in dichorionic pregnancies was found to be associated with preterm birth (Ļ2=4.74; p=0.03) but had no impact on the mode of delivery (Ļ2=0.119; p=0.73). There was a statistically significant difference in the rate of small for gestational age (SGA) neonates (Ļ2=16.4556; p=0.000267) and Apgar score (Ļ2=7.9931; p<0.05) between the study groups. Mode of conception in dichorionic pregnancies was not a risk factor for preterm delivery (Ļ2=1.417; p=0.23). In conclusion, discordant twin growth in dichorionic pregnancies is a risk factor for preterm delivery and has no impact on the mode of delivery but has an impact on the rate of SGA and Apgar score. Istraživane varijable su bile majÄinska dob (godine), paritet, indeks tjelesne mase (kg/m2), naÄin po-roÄaja (vaginalno i carski rez), poroÄajna masa (grami) i zbroj APGAR (ā¤7, 8-10).

The reality of a real-world stroke patient ā extended time window, low ASPECTS, and a good outcome
Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is recommended in patients with anterior large vessel occlusion from 6 to 24 hours after stroke onset in selected patients with baseline ischemia defined by Alberta stroke program early CT score (ASPECTS) ā„ 6. Recent studies have shown that carefully selected patients with lower ASPECTS 3-5 and even with ASPECTS 0-2 could benefit from MT. A 45-year-old patient was admitted to our emergency department 14 hours after the stroke onset. The neurological assessment revealed severe dysarthria, gaze palsy to the right, and severe left arm and leg palsy. His National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score was 10. The emergent brain CT scan showed large right middle cerebral artery territory infarction with right internal carotid artery and right M2 segment occlusion on CT angiography. The ASPECTS was 2. CT perfusion showed a good core/penumbra mismatch ratio in temporal/peri-insular parts and basal ganglia. The MT was
performed 14 hours after the stroke onset with a TICI 2b score. The treatment was complicated by the progression of severe brain edema and brain herniation which required emergent decompressive craniectomy. The patient was discharged to the neurorehabilitation center after 26 hospital days with an NIHSS 10. On the last outpatient visit, after three months, the patient scored 5 on NIHHS and 3 on the 3-month Modified Rankin Score. Our patient was successfully treated by MT despite a low ASPECTS and extended time window. Further randomized control trials are necessary to define which subgroup of these patients can benefit from MT
