High energy string scattering in AdS
We study the AdS Virasoro-Shapiro amplitude in the limit of fixed-angle high energy scattering. A recent representation as a world-sheet integral allows to compute the amplitude in this regime by saddle point techniques, very much as in flat space. This result is then compared to a classical scattering computation in AdS and agreement is found. As a byproduct of this comparison we show that AdS curvature corrections exponentiate in the high energy limit
Six-point AdS gluon amplitudes from flat space and factorization
We present a powerful new approach to compute tree-level higher-point holographic correlators. Our method only exploits the flat-space limit, where we point out an important simplification, and factorization of amplitudes in AdS. In particular, it makes minimal use of supersymmetry, crucial in all previous bootstrap methods. We demonstrate our method by computing the six-point super gluon amplitude of super Yang-Mills in

On Integrability of Classical SuperStrings in AdS_5 x S^5
We explore integrability properties of superstring equations of motion in
AdS_5 x S^5. We impose light-cone kappa-symmetry and reparametrization gauges
and construct a Lax representation for the corresponding Hamiltonian dynamics
on subspace of physical superstring degrees of freedom. We present some
explicit results for the corresponding conserved charges by consistently
reducing the dynamics to AdS_3 x S^3 and AdS_3 x S^1 subsectors containing both

An example of localized D-branes solution on PP-wave backgrounds
In this note we provide an explicit example of type IIB supersymmetric
D3-branes solution on a pp-wave like background, consisting in the product of
an eight-dimensional pp-wave times a two-dimensional flat space. An interesting
property of our solution is the fully localization of the D3-branes (i.e. the
solution depends on all the transverse coordinates). Then we show the
generalization to other Dp-branes and to the D1/D5 system.Comment: 14 pages, 1 table; v2. references adde
TeV-Scale Z' Bosons from D-branes
Generic D-brane string models of particle physics predict the existence of
extra U(1) gauge symmetries beyond hypercharge. These symmetries are not of the
E_6 class but rather include the gauging of Baryon and Lepton numbers as well
as certain Peccei-Quinn-like symmetries. Some of the U(1)'s have triangle
anomalies, but they are cancelled by a Green-Schwarz mechanism. The
corresponding gauge bosons typically acquire a mass of order the string scale
M_S by combining with two-index antisymmetric fields coming from the closed
string sector of the theory. We argue that in string models with a low string
scale M_S proportional to 1-10 TeV, the presence of these generic U(1)'s may be
amenable to experimental test. Present constraints from electroweak precision
data already set important bounds on the mass of these extra gauge bosons. In
particular, for large classes of models, rho-parameter constraints imply M_S >=
1.5 TeV. In the present scheme some fraction of the experimentally measured Z^0
mass would be due not to the Higgs mechanism, but rather to the mixing with
these closed string fields. We give explicit formulae for recently constructed
classes of intersecting D6- and D5-brane models yielding the Standard Model

Non-local charges on AdS_5 x S^5 and PP-waves
We show the existence of an infinite set of non-local classically conserved
charges on the Green-Schwarz closed superstring in a pp-wave background. We
find that these charges agree with the Penrose limit of non-local classically
conserved charges recently found for the Green-Schwarz
superstring. The charges constructed in this paper could help to understand the

Scans per day as predictors of optimal glycemic control in people with type 1 diabetes mellitus using flash glucose monitoring: What number of scans per day should raise a red flag?
Aims: This study aimed to determine the minimum frequency of flash glucose monitoring (FGM) scans necessary for optimal glycemic control in patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Methods: Data were collected from 692 patients (47.5% female, with a median age of 47.4 years) who used FGM systems daily and recorded their clinical variables and device data. Results: Logistic regression models showed that performing more than 12 scans per day was associated with improved T1D control (OR = 4.22, p < 0.001) and a reduction in HbA1c (7.6 vs 7.0%, 60–53 mmol/mol p < 0.001). However, those performing less than 6 scans showed no improvement in HbA1c (7.9 vs 7.8%, 63–61 mmol/mol p = 0.514). Thirteen daily scans were determined as the optimal cutoff point for predicting optimal glycemic control using a maximally selected rank algorithm. Significant reductions were observed in mean glucose (< 0.001), coefficient of variation (< 0.001), HbA1c (< 0.001), and an increase in TIR (< 0.001) in patients who performed more than 12 daily scans. Conclusions: The results suggest that a higher frequency of daily scans by T1D patients using FGM systems leads to improved chronic glycemic control. The minimum recommended frequency for optimal control is 13 scans per day, and more than 6 daily scans are needed to improve HbA1
Intersecting Brane Models of Particle Physics and the Higgs Mechanism
We analyze a recently constructed class of D-brane theories with the fermion
spectrum of the SM at the intersection of D6-branes wrapping a compact toroidal
space. We show how the SM Higgs mechanism appears as a brane recombination
effect in which the branes giving rise to U(2)_L \times U(1) recombine into a
single brane related to U(1)_{em}. We also show how one can construct D6-brane
models which respect some supersymmetry at every intersection. These are
quasi-supersymmetric models of the type introduced in hep-th/0201205 which may
be depicted in terms of SUSY-quivers and may stabilize the hierarchy between
the weak scale and a fundamental scale of order 10-100 TeV present in low
string scale models. Several explicit D6-brane models with three generations of
quarks and leptons and different SUSY-quiver structure are presented. One can
prove on general grounds that if one wants to build a (factorizable) D6-brane
configuration with the SM gauge group and N = 1 SUSY (or quasi-SUSY), also a
massless (B-L) generator must be initially present in any model. If in addition
we insist on lef- and right-handed fermions respecting the same N=1 SUSY, the
brane configurations are forced to have intersections giving rise to Higgs
multiplets, providing for a rationale for the very existence of the SM Higgs

VIII Encuentro de Docentes e Investigadores en Historia del Diseño, la Arquitectura y la Ciudad
Acta de congresoLa conmemoración de los cien años de la Reforma Universitaria de 1918 se presentó como una ocasión propicia para debatir el rol de la historia, la teoría y la crítica en la formación y en la práctica profesional de diseñadores, arquitectos y urbanistas.
En ese marco el VIII Encuentro de Docentes e Investigadores en Historia del Diseño, la Arquitectura y la Ciudad constituyó un espacio de intercambio y reflexión cuya realización ha sido posible gracias a la colaboración entre Facultades de Arquitectura, Urbanismo y Diseño de la Universidad Nacional y la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad Católica de Córdoba, contando además con la activa participación de mayoría de las Facultades, Centros e Institutos de Historia de la Arquitectura del país y la región.
Orientado en su convocatoria tanto a docentes como a estudiantes de Arquitectura y Diseño Industrial de todos los niveles de la FAUD-UNC promovió el debate de ideas a partir de experiencias concretas en instancias tales como mesas temáticas de carácter interdisciplinario, que adoptaron la modalidad de presentación de ponencias, entre otras actividades.
En el ámbito de VIII Encuentro, desarrollado en la sede Ciudad Universitaria de Córdoba, se desplegaron numerosas posiciones sobre la enseñanza, la investigación y la formación en historia, teoría y crítica del diseño, la arquitectura y la ciudad; sumándose el aporte realizado a través de sus respectivas conferencias de Ana Clarisa Agüero, Bibiana Cicutti, Fernando Aliata y Alberto Petrina. El conjunto de ponencias que se publican en este Repositorio de la UNC son el resultado de dos intensas jornadas de exposiciones, cuyos contenidos han posibilitado actualizar viejos dilemas y promover nuevos debates.
El evento recibió el apoyo de las autoridades de la FAUD-UNC, en especial de la Secretaría de Investigación y de la Biblioteca de nuestra casa, como así también de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la UCC; va para todos ellos un especial agradecimiento
