Practical Application Of Uml Activity Diagrams For The Generation Of Test Cases
Software testing and debugging represents around one third of total effort in development projects. Different factors which have influence on poor practices of testing have been identified through specific surveys. Amongst several, one of the most important is the lack of efficient methods to
exploit development models for generating test cases. This paper presents a new method for automatically generating a complete set of functional test cases from UML activity diagrams complementing specification of use cases. Test cases are prioritized according to software risk
information. Results from experiences with more than 70 software professionals/experts validate benefits of the method. Participants also confirm its interest and effectiveness for testing needs of industry
Quantum chemical investigation on iodine oxides and their role in the formation of atmospheric aerosols
Weakly Lefschetz symplectic manifolds
The harmonic cohomology of a Donaldson symplectic submanifold and of an
Auroux symplectic submanifold are compared with that of its ambient space. We
also study symplectic manifolds satisfying a weakly Lefschetz property, that
is, the -Lefschetz propery. In particular, we consider the symplectic
blow-ups of the complex projective space along weakly Lefschetz symplectic
submanifolds. As an application we construct, for each even integer ,
compact symplectic manifolds which are -Lefschetz but not -Lefschetz.Comment: 22 pages; many improvements from previous versio
Testing statics-dynamics equivalence at the spin-glass transition in three dimensions
The statics-dynamics correspondence in spin glasses relate non-equilibrium
results on large samples (the experimental realm) with equilibrium quantities
computed on small systems (the typical arena for theoretical computations).
Here we employ statics-dynamics equivalence to study the Ising spin-glass
critical behavior in three dimensions. By means of Monte Carlo simulation, we
follow the growth of the coherence length (the size of the glassy domains), on
lattices too large to be thermalized. Thanks to the large coherence lengths we
reach, we are able to obtain accurate results in excellent agreement with the
best available equilibrium computations. To do so, we need to clarify the
several physical meanings of the dynamic exponent close to the critical
temperature.Comment: Version to appear in Physical Review
Cross-border cooperation (CBC) in Southern Europe-An iberian case study. The eurocity Elvas-Badajoz
The experiences of cross-border cooperation (CBC), undertaken not only in Europe but throughout the world, have enabled areas to gain greater importance in recent decades at an international level, showing potential for integrative functions and joint development as exemplified by several CBC projects. The present paper assesses the impact of CBC projects by analyzing a protocol established in 2013 between the cities of Elvas and Badajoz, which induced the creation of the Eurocity Elvas-Badajoz. The paper kicks off with a critical review on territorial factors for success in CBC areas, considering the analysis of several case studies throughout Europe. The lessons learned, taken from the analyzed case studies, and the identified territorial success factors were used as assessment points for the investigation of the target study area, the Eurocity Elvas-Badajoz. The investigation explores public participation perceptions towards the identification of what changes with respect to standards of life with the CBC project, providing the current state of affairs and identifying where to place efforts in order to reach sustainable development for the region. While being a transition area, it presents several opportunities for growth. These opportunities have not yet been object of analysis and debate with respect to lasting, sustainable successful growth. The present research enables the identification of several territorial factors for success in the study area, such as the connectivity/movement between cities and strong political commitment. From the identified critical factors, it was possible to highlight the importance of public transportation as a priority for achieving success in this CBC project.National Funds - FCT-Foundation for Science and Technology [UID/SOC/04020/2013
Physics reach of CERN-based SuperBeam neutrino oscillation experiments
We compare the physics potential of two representative options for a
SuperBeam in Europe, studying the achievable precision at 1\sigma with which
the CP violation phase (\delta) could be measured, as well as the mass
hierarchy and CP violation discovery potentials. The first setup corresponds to
a high energy beam aiming from CERN to a 100 kt liquid argon detector placed at
the Pyh\"asalmi mine (2300 km), one of the LAGUNA candidate sites. The second
setup corresponds to a much lower energy beam, aiming from CERN to a 500 kt
water \v{C}erenkov detector placed at the Gran Sasso underground laboratory
(730 km). This second option is also studied for a baseline of 650 km,
corresponding to the LAGUNA candidate sites of Umbria and the Canfranc
underground laboratory. All results are presented also for scenarios with
statistics lowered by factors of 2, 4, 8 and 16 to study the possible
reductions of flux, detector mass or running time allowed by the large value of
\theta_{13} recently measured.Comment: 15 pages, 4 figure
