Motion coordination and programmable teleoperation between two industrial robots

    Get PDF
Tasks for two coordinated industrial robots always bring the robots in contact with a same object. The motion coordination among the robots and the object must be maintained all the time. To plan the coordinated tasks, only one robot's motion is planned according to the required motion of the object. The motion of the second robot is to follow the first one as specified by a set of holonomic equality constraints at every time instant. If any modification of the object's motion is needed in real-time, only the first robot's motion has to be modified accordingly in real-time. The modification for the second robot is done implicitly through the constraint conditions. Thus the operation is simplified. If the object is physically removed, the second robot still continually follows the first one through the constraint conditions. If the first robot is maneuvered through either the teach pendant or the keyboard, the second one moves accordingly to form the teleoperation which is linked through the software programming. Obviously, the second robot does not need to duplicate the first robot's motion. The programming of the constraints specifies their relative motions

    The SLAC Polarized Electron Source

The SLAC PES, developed in the early 1990s for the SLC, has been in continuous use since 1992, during which time it has undergone numerous upgrades. The upgrades include improved cathodes with their matching laser systems, modified activation techniques and better diagnostics. The source itself and its performance with these upgrades will be described with special attention given to recent high-intensity long-pulse operation for the E-158 fixed-target parity-violating experiment.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, Workshop on Polarized Electron Sources and Polarimeters (PESP 2002), September 4-6, 2002, Danvers, M

Assessing Progress towards Public Health, Human Rights, and International Development Goals Using Frontier Analysis

Indicators to measure progress towards achieving public health, human rights, and international development targets, such as 100% access to improved drinking water or zero maternal mortality ratio, generally focus on status (i.e., level of attainment or coverage) or trends in status (i.e., rates of change). However, these indicators do not account for different levels of development that countries experience, thus making it difficult to compare progress between countries. We describe a recently developed new use of frontier analysis and apply this method to calculate country performance indices in three areas: maternal mortality ratio, poverty headcount ratio, and primary school completion rate. Frontier analysis is used to identify the maximum achievable rates of change, defined by the historically best-performing countries, as a function of coverage level. Performance indices are calculated by comparing a country’s rate of change against the maximum achievable rate at the same coverage level. A country’s performance can be positive or negative, corresponding to progression or regression, respectively. The calculated performance indices allow countries to be compared against each other regardless of whether they have only begun to make progress or whether they have almost achieved the target. This paper is the first to use frontier analysis to determine the maximum achievable rates as a function of coverage level and to calculate performance indices for public health, human rights, and international development indicators. The method can be applied to multiple fields and settings, for example health targets such as cessation in smoking or specific vaccine immunizations, and offers both a new approach to analyze existing data and a new data source for consideration when assessing progress achieved

A lacunary version of Mergelian’s approximation theorem

    Get PDF
AbstractLet K be a compact plane set having connected complement. Then Mergelian’s theorem states that the linear span of the monomials zn, i.e. the polynomials, are dense in the Banach space A(K) of all functions continuous on K and holomorphic in the interior of K endowed with the sup-norm. We consider the question under which conditions the linear span of zn, with n running through a sequence of nonnegative integers having upper density one, is dense in A(K) or appropriate subspaces

Pengaruh Profitabilitas, Ukuran Perusahaan Dan Struktur Aktiva Terhadap Struktur Modal Pada Perusahaan Transportasi Di Bursa Efek Indonesia

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of profitability, firm size and the asset structure of the capital structures on the transport companies in Indonesia stock exchange, in the year 2008-2012. The research data obtained from the company's annual financial statements and hypothesis testing was done by using multiple linear regression analysis. The population in this study were all transportation companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange 2008-2012 period with a total population of 28 transportation companies. The results of the study to obtain the proxy profitability (ROA) have significant negative effect on the capital structure, the size of the company and asset structure significant positive effect on the capital structure. Simultaneously profitability proxied ROA, firm size and asset structure significantly influence capital structure
