Literary translation as a creative activity

    Get PDF
The modern theory of translation is a searching of extralinguistic, socio-cultural and psychological factors that shape its strategy and norms as a creative activity. We analyse the story "Tree and Leaf" written by J. R. R. Tolkien as a creative activity. We point out 3 different types of translations made by E. Gippius, S. Koshelev and O. Stepashkina. We state that the title is a "collapsed" text that incorporates cultural, historical, ethnic, linguistic information. We also pay attention to linguistic specific of the main character’s name that has transformations in three different versions of the translationyesБелгородский государственный университе

Internationalisation strategies of hotels in the ASEAN region

    Get PDF
The economic growth of the ASEAN region and its service industry in particular, is the primary reason of the growing interest of foreign investors in this region. Consequently, the rise of the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) level results in the growth of Multinational Enterprises that establish operation in ASEAN. At the same time, the ASEAN is also experiencing growing popularity as a tourist destination. Due to the abovementioned facts, the current study’s research problem is to identify favourable conditions for international hotel sector development that will be beneficial for the economies of ASEAN countries. The current study involves investigation of the internationalisation strategies of hotels that expanded to the ASEAN region in order to identify reasons driving the decision of hotels to go international and to explain the choice of a particular location for the new operation establishment. In order to achieve these aims Dunning’s eclectic paradigm (1993) is employed, as it was found to be the most capable theory in terms of its ability to explain patterns of FDI. Based on the eclectic paradigm a set of factors that affect the ownership, location, and internalisation advantages of international hotels was identified and tested. The research conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews with hotel executives helped identify which particular factors have the most important effect on the competitive advantages, the location choice, and choice of entry mode of international hotels. These findings helped to achieve the research aims as well as to formulate recommendations for the governments of ASEAN countries regarding possible ways to improve the economic situation of the region

Order Properties of Orthogonal Vector Fields and a Representation Theorem

For orthogonal vector fields on a von Neumann algebra with values in a Hilbert space, order properties and their relationships with topological properties are studied. A theorem characterizing the orthogonal vector fields in the class of linear mappings is proved

Biotesting as a Method of Evaluating Waste Hazard in Metallic Mineral Mining

    Get PDF
As the result of identifying content of each chemical element it has been revealed that metallic mineral wastes have a considerable amount of valuable useful metals. Thus, large-tonnage inorganic wastes are considered to be an additional raw source of metal production. This paper highlights the necessity of supplementary biotesting metallic mineral wastes in order to bring into correlation with corresponding hazard classes and facilitate efficient recycling of these wastes in future. It has been found out that determined in this way waste class can be dumped or used after recycling. It has been also indicated that mill tailings are to be stored according to contained metals without messing up dissimilar metal-containing wastes. After winning metals these wastes are similar to the group of inorganic non-metallic wastes and can be used in building material production, for filling mined-out spaces, in road construction etc

Investigation of the Mechanism of Precipitation of the Ti3Al in Two-Phase Titanium-Aluminium Alloy

    Get PDF
Changes in the formation processes of the ordered Ti3Al phase (α2 phase) was studied depending on the heat treatment in the Ti – Al alloy. It was shown that high-temperature treatment in a single-phase α-region, followed by supercooling at different temperatures, leads to a more active release and growth of dispersed particles than after preliminary processing from the β-region.The study was supported by the grant of the Russian Science Foundation № 18-13-00220. The work was carried out using the laboratory equipment ”Structural methods of analysis and properties of materials and nanomaterials” of the Center of Ural Federal University

The Role of Apoptosis in Autoimmune Destruction of Pancreatic b-Cells

    Get PDF
The purpose of this section of the monograph is to familiarize readers with the role of programmed cell death type 1—apoptosis in autoimmune destruction of the pancreas in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM-1). The task of focusing the reader’s attention on the mechanisms of pancreatic b-cells apoptosis is explained by the fact that the interest of scientists in this problem continues to grow. Sections of the chapter are devoted to the modern concept of T1DM-1 immunopathogenesis, the role of insufficient apoptosis of circulating effector T cells, on the one hand, and enhanced apoptosis of b-cells, on the other hand. Special attention is paid to the prospects for the treatment and prevention of T1DM. The chapter presents the results of experimental studies on the role of apoptosis in the immunopathogenesis of T1DM. Separately, the results of the authors’ own studies are considered. The chapter was based on sources from international data bases: Scopus, Springer, PubMed. The authors express the hope that the chapter will contribute not only to a deeper understanding of the pathogenesis of T1DM, but also to arouse interest in the prospects for the treatment and prevention of this disease. The chapter is intended for students of medical universities and a wide range of readers with higher medical and biological education
