Tensile properties of four types of ABS lattice structures—A comparative study

    Get PDF
This article aims to compare the behaviour of four types of lattice structures named Cartesian, Rhomboid, Octagonal, and Starlit under tensile stress loading. The structures were made of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) material using the Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) technique with three different specific volumes (24, 42, and 60%). Five samples of each type were produced, and a total of 60 samples were tested. Experimental testing was performed according to EN ISO 527-1:2012 and EN ISO 527-2:2012. The obtained data were statistically processed, while no outliers were identified. The experimental results pointed out that the specimens' topology, together with the specific volume, very significantly affected the resultant ABS properties of the tested samples made of the same material. The comparative study showed that in terms of ultimate strength, yield strength, and Young's modulus, the Cartesian structure appeared to be the most suitable for tensile stress, and the least suitable structure was the Rhomboid structure. On the other hand, the Rhomboid-type of the structure showed not only the highest amount of absorbed energy but also the highest toughness among the investigated lattice structures, so in the near future, its behaviour under an impact test should be studied.Ministerstvo školstva, vedy, výskumu a športu Slovenskej republiky, (APVV-19-0550); Kultúrna a Edukacná Grantová Agentúra MŠVVaŠ SR, KEGA, (005TUKE-4/2021, 032TUKE-4/2022)The authors would like to thank the Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport of the Slovak Republic for the direct support of this research through the projects APVV-19-0550, KEGA 005TUKE-4/2021 and KEGA 032TUKE-4/2022. The paper deals with the study of the focusing tube wear influence on surface quality and vibrations produced by abrasive waterjet by means of experiments design. The experiments deal with evaluation of the influence of focusing tube wear on surface quality and parameters of vibration generated by abrasive waterjet cutting. The main task of the first experiment was to study the significance of four selected factors of independent variables (focusing tube wear, traverse rate, abrasive mass flow rate and pressure) by full factorial analysis at two levels. The aim of the second experiment was to study the influence of focusing tube wear on the vibration parameters. It has been observed that focusing tube wear has a significant negative influence on surface quality and parameters of vibration

The current era is characterized by rapid developing in all areas of society, but the most rapid expansion is in the field of science, knowledge, and technology. Galloping accessibility of the novel materials and technologies creates requirements of complex evaluation of their deployment to obtain economic and ecological sustainability. The authors of the paper present a proposal for a methodology enabling an effective decision-making process when choosing material and technological processes suitable for the manufacturing of products. This methodology was developed to enable the efficient evaluation of a wide range of materials, manufacturing technologies, including existing additive and hybrid and with focus on future and emerging technologies, too. The evaluation focuses on sustainability approach to minimize negative social and environmental impact while ensuring the required level of safety and profitability. © 2023 The Authors. TRIBODIAGNOSTIC INVESTIGATION ON OIL FILTRATION: RESULTS FROM A NOVEL APPARATUS

    No full text
The paper deals with the analysis of tribodiagnostic parameters of oil filter device in order to investigate the possibility to launch a thorough treatment of non-invasive filtration of oil during the full operation of machinery and equipment. The monitored values show stabilization at levels in which the contamination cannot damage machinery and equipment and their individual components. It is shown that with this method the oil becomes a very important indicator and gives immediate representation of the internal condition of the tribosystems in the machine by using several tribotechnical analysis described in the paper. Filtration analysis during experiments was conducted with non-invasive method in four steps. As first filling of filtration system, measurement with a filtration after measurement comes scavenging of expansion vessel and in the end emptying system. The desired level of purity of the oil system becomes a standard value for the next period of operation, and any deviation of analyzed values can be almost immediately identified. Manuscript highlights: • Investigation on non-invasive filtration of oil during the full operation of machinery and equipment • Non-invasive filtration experimental analysis of used oil after filtration • Experimental effectiveness evaluation of the filtration • Purity of the oil system becomes the target value for the online monitorin

Possibilities of increasing production efficiency by implementing elements of augmented reality

    No full text
The publication reflects the current situation concerning the possibilities of using augmented reality (AR) technology in the field of production technologies with the main intention of creating a tool to increase production efficiency. It is a set of individual steps that respond in a targeted manner to the possible need for assisted service intervention on a specific device. The publication chronologically describes the procedure required for the preparation and processing of a CAD model. For this preparatory process, the PTC software package is used which meets the requirements for each of the individual operations. The first step is the routine preparation of CAD models and assemblies. These are prepared based on real models located on the device, and their shape and dimensions correlate with the dimensions of the model on the device. The second phase is the creation and timing of the disassembly sequence. This will provide the model with complete vector data, which is then paired with the CAD models in AR. This phase is one of the most important. It determines the location of the model concerning its relative position on the device, provides information on the relocation of parts of the model after the sequence is started, and essentially serves as a template for the interactive part of the sequence. The last two phases are used to connect CAD models with vector data, determine their position for the position mark, and prepare the user interface displayed on the output device. The result of this procedure is a functional disassembly sequence, used for assisted service intervention of a worker in the spindle drive of the Emco Mill 55 device

Present-day and fast development of technologies and their use is unlimited in today´s time. An illustration is the ever-increasing expansion of RFID technology that can be applied to any materials or products in almost every industry. The engineering production is not exception within application in manufacturing. The substance of an RFID technology consists in ensuring early information about the unsuitable state of material, component etc. in engineering production. This article is focused on the issue from the field of radio-frequency identification. Applicability of RFID tags is dependent on conditions of environment in which the system is suggested. The basic characteristics of tags are generally informed by producer but in the case of its specific requirements, it is necessary to verify the application itself or it can be verified by direct experimental method. The aim of measurement is identification and evaluation of qualitative parameters for the RFID tag Confidex depending on temperature of environment. This article contains a description of using devices, selected method of measurement and realization of experiment

The aim of this paper is to describe the use of simulation software in the manufacturing industry. We used the simulation by the final separation of the fabric from waste tires. Waste tires are the main components in the manufacture of new composite material. Advantage of the simulation program Witness is in the field of possibility to choose the right technology process of final purification.
