Frequency domain energy transfer properties of bilinear oscillators under harmonic loadings
In this paper, the energy transfer phenomenon of bilinear oscillators in the frequency domain is analyzed using the new concept of Nonlinear Output Frequency Response Functions (NOFRFs). The analysis provides insight into how new frequency generation can occur using bilinear oscillators, and reveals, for the first time, that it is the resonant frequencies of the NOFRFs that dominate the occurrence of this well-known nonlinear behaviour. The results are of significance for the design and fault diagnosis of mechanical systems and structures which can be described by a bilinear oscillator model
Analysis of Crack Induced Structure Response Using Nonlinear Output Frequency Response Functions
Nonlinear Output Frequency Response Functions (NOFRF's) are a new concept recently developed for the analysis of nonlinear systems in the frequency domain. Based on this concept, the output frequency behaviours of nonlinear systems can be expressed using a number of one- dimensional functions similar to the approach used in the traditional frequency response analysis of linear systems. In this paper the NOFRF's are employed to analyse a cracked beam described by a SODF bilinear model. The results show that the NOFRF's are highly dependent upon the ratio of stiffness of the cracked and crack free situations and can thus be used as crack damage indicators. In addition, the higher order NOFRF terms are significantly sensitive to crack size and hence can be used to distinguish different situations of crack. This research study confirms the conclusion that the increasing crack size will make the structure behaviour more nonlinear and establish an important basis for the use of the NOFRF concept to detect and estimate cracks in mechanical structures
Parametrization of Born-Infeld Type Phantom Dark Energy Model
Applying the parametrization of dark energy density, we can construct
directly independent-model potentials. In Born-Infeld type phantom dark energy
model, we consider four special parametrization equation of state parameter.
The evolutive behavior of dark energy density with respect to red-shift ,
potentials with respect to and are shown mathematically. Moreover,
we investigate the effect of parameter upon the evolution of the
constructed potential with respect to . These results show that the
evolutive behavior of constructed Born-Infeld type dark energy model is quite
different from those of the other models.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, Accepted for publication in Astrophysics & Space

Analysis of bilinear oscillators under harmonic loading using nonlinear output frequency response functions
In this paper, the new concept of Nonlinear Output Frequency Response Functions (NOFRFs) is extended to the harmonic input case, an input-independent relationship is found between the NOFRFs and the Generalized Frequency Response Functions (GFRFs). This relationship can greatly simplify the application of the NOFRFs. Then, beginning with the demonstration that a bilinear oscillator can be approximated using a polynomial type nonlinear oscillator, the NOFRFs are used to analyze the energy transfer phenomenon of bilinear oscillators in the frequency domain. The analysis provides insight into how new frequency generation can occur using bilinear oscillators and how the sub-resonances occur for the bilinear oscillators, and reveals that it is the resonant frequencies of the NOFRFs that dominate the occurrence of this well-known nonlinear behaviour. The results are of significance for the design and fault diagnosis of mechanical systems and structures which can be described by a bilinear oscillator model
Dynamics of Tachyon and Phantom Field beyond the Inverse Square Potentials
We investigate the cosmological evolution of the tachyon and phantom-tachyon
scalar field by considering the potential parameter () as a function of another potential parameter
(), which correspondingly extends the
analysis of the evolution of our universe from two-dimensional autonomous
dynamical system to the three-dimension. It allows us to investigate the more
general situation where the potential is not restricted to inverse square
potential and .One result is that, apart from the inverse square potential,
there are a large number of potentials which can give the scaling and dominant
solution when the function equals for one or some
values of as well as the parameter satisfies
condition Eq.(18) or Eq.(19). We also find that for a class of different
potentials the dynamics evolution of the universe are actually the same and
therefore undistinguishable.Comment: 8 pages, no figure, accepted by The European Physical Journal

Diagnostic for Dilaton Dark Energy
diagnostic can differentiate between different models of dark energy
without the accurate current value of matter density. We apply this geometric
diagnostic to dilaton dark energy(DDE) model and differentiate DDE model from
LCDM. We also investigate the influence of coupled parameter on the
evolutive behavior of with respect to redshift . According to the
numerical result of , we get the current value of equation of state
=-0.952 which fits the WMAP5+BAO+SN very well.Comment: 6 pages and 6 figures
The generalized second law for the interacting generalized Chaplygin gas model
We investigate the validity of the generalized second law (GSL) of
gravitational thermodynamics in a non-flat FRW universe containing the
interacting generalized Chaplygin gas with the baryonic matter. The dynamical
apparent horizon is assumed to be the boundary of the universe. We show that
for the interacting generalized Chaplygin gas as a unified candidate for dark
matter (DM) and dark energy (DE), the equation of state parameter can cross the
phantom divide. We also present that for the selected model under thermal
equilibrium with the Hawking radiation, the GSL is always satisfied throughout
the history of the universe for any spatial curvature, independently of the
equation of state of the interacting generalized Chaplygin gas model.Comment: 8 page
Born-Infeld Type Phantom Model in the Plane
In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of Born-Infeld(B-I) phantom model
in the plane, which is defined by the equation of state
parameter for the dark energy and its derivative with respect to (the
logarithm of the scale factor ). We find the scalar field equation of motion
in plane, and show mathematically the property of attractor
solutions which correspond to , , which avoid
the "Big rip" problem and meets the current observations well.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, some references adde
Accelerating Universes in String Theory via Field Redefinition
We study cosmological solutions in the effective heterotic string theory with
-correction terms in string frame. It is pointed out that the
effective theory has an ambiguity via field redefinition and we analyze
generalized effective theories due to this ambiguity. We restrict our analysis
to the effective theories which give equations of motion of second order in the
derivatives, just as "Galileon" field theory. This class of effective actions
contains two free coupling constants. We find de Sitter solutions as well as
the power-law expanding universes in our four-dimensional Einstein frame. The
accelerated expanding universes are always the attractors in the present
dynamical system.Comment: 22 pages, 3 figures, some additional formulae adde
Interacting new agegraphic viscous dark energy with varying
We consider the new agegraphic model of dark energy with a varying
gravitational constant, , in a non-flat universe. We obtain the equation of
state and the deceleration parameters for both interacting and noninteracting
new agegraphic dark energy. We also present the equation of motion determining
the evolution behavior of the dark energy density with a time variable
gravitational constant. Finally, we generalize our study to the case of viscous
new agegraphic dark energy in the presence of an interaction term between both
dark components.Comment: 12 pages, accepted for publication in IJTP (2010
