Estratégias & tecnologias digitais para a integração do Autismo
The number of people with Autism spectrum disorders is increasing significantly. The purpose of this literature review is to contribute to the integration of autistic people in the educational context with the help of technological means. Educators' views on the education they should provide to students so that autistic people feel accepted by their peers and have equal and inclusive opportunities are listed. People on the Autism spectrum have difficulties in important pillars such as communication, memory, and attention. Strategies are presented for teachers to achieve the inclusion of students and the role of assistive technology, and its benefits are identified for people with Autism with the main benefit being the improvement of communication skills, the improvement of organization activities, memory, and attention.El número de personas con trastornos del espectro autista está aumentando significativamente. Aspects of the effectiveness of the Greek 'Holoimero' ('all-day') primary school
The ‘holoimero’ school is a special school type in Greece that functions
until late in the evening. ‘Holoimero’ constitutes one of the most important
components of the latest educational reform. During its operation, at the end of the
morning shift, the ‘holoimero’ or ‘all day’ school seeks for the creative occupation
of the students who decide to participate in its programme, which includes activities
not offered in the morning shift. The present research investigates the factors of the
effectiveness of ‘holoimero’ that, according to some of its teachers, are of great
importance. The main argument of the present study is that certain variables are
related to the effectiveness of the ‘holoimero’ school. Some of these variables are
school financing and autonomy, school climate, openness to the community,
flexibility, pedagogical innovation, and active involvement of those concerned with
the organisation and implementation of the curriculum.peer-reviewe
Second Order Perturbation Theory for a Superconducting Double Quantum Dot
We extend our approach based on the second order perturbation theory in the
Coulomb interaction recently developed for quantum dots coupled to
superconducting leads to the superconducting double quantum dot setups. Using
our perturbative method we evaluate several single-particle quantities such as
on-dot induced gap and generalized occupations together with the Andreev in-gap
spectra and compare them with numerically exact results from the Numerical
Renormalization Group and Quantum Monte Carlo finding a very good
correspondence for not too strongly correlated regimes. Thus we can offer in a
wide parameter range this method as an efficient and reliable alternative to
the heavy numerical tools exclusively used so far for the description of such
experimentally relevant systems.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, proceedings of the SCES 2019 conferenc
Distinct effects of HIV protease inhibitors and ERAD inhibitors on zygote to ookinete transition of the malaria parasite
In an effort to eradicate malaria, new interventions are proposed to include compound/vaccine development against pre-erythrocytic, erythrocytic and mosquito stages of Plasmodium. Drug repurposing might be an alternative approach to new antimalarials reducing the cost and the time required for drug development. Previous in vitro studies have examined the effects of protease inhibitors on different stages of the Plasmodium parasite, although the clinical relevance of this remains unclear. In this study we tested the putative effect of three HIV protease inhibitors, two general aspartyl protease inhibitors and three AAA-p97 ATPase inhibitors on the zygote to ookinete transition of the Plasmodium parasite. Apart from the two general aspartyl inhibitors, all other compounds had a profound effect on the development of the parasites. HIVPIs inhibited zygote to ookinete conversion by 75%–90%, while the three AAA-p97 ATPase inhibitors blocked conversion by 50%–90% at similar concentrations, while electron microscopy highlighted nuclear and structural abnormalities. Our results highlight a potential of HIV protease inhibitors and p97 inhibitors as transmission blocking agents for the eradication of malaria
Serpin overexpression in Plasmodium-infected midgut cells
Summary The design of effective, vector-based malaria transmission blocking strategies relies on a thorough understanding of the molecular and cellular interactions that occur during the parasite sporogonic cycle in the mosquito. During Plasmodium berghei invasion, transcription from the SRPN10 locus, encoding four serine protease inhibitors of the ovalbumin family, is strongly induced in the mosquito midgut. Herein we demonstrate that intense induction as well as redistribution of SRPN10 occurs specifically in the parasite-invaded midgut epithelial cells. Quantitative analysis establishes that in response to epithelial invasion, SRPN10 translocates from the nucleus to the cytoplasm and this is followed by strong SRPN10 overexpression. The invaded cells exhibit signs of apoptosis, suggesting a link between this type of intracellular serpin and epithelial damage. The SRPN10 gene products constitute a novel, robust and cell-autonomous marker of midgut invasion by ookinetes. The SRPN10 dynamics at the subcellular level confirm and further elaborate the 'time bomb' model of P. berghei invasion in both Anopheles stephensi and Anopheles gambiae. In contrast, this syndrome of responses is not elicited by mutant P. berghei ookinetes lacking the major ookinete surface proteins, P28 and P25. Molecular markers with defined expression patterns, in combination with mutant parasite strains, will facilitate dissection of the molecular mechanisms underlying vector competence and development of effective transmission blocking strategies
Mean-variance investment strategy applied in emerging financial markets: evidence from the Colombian stock market

Investing in financial assets is no exception. Since the portfolio selection theory was proposed by Markowitz in 1952, this methodology has become the benchmark in portfolio management. However, it is not always possible to apply it, especially when investing in emerging financial markets, which are characterised by a scant variety of available stocks and very lowliquidity. In this paper, using the Colombian case, we will examine the challenges found by investors who want to create a portfolio using only stocks listed on a scarcely developed stock market.GarcÃa GarcÃa, F.; Gonzalez Bueno, JA.; Oliver Muncharaz, J. De Novo assembly and transcriptome analysis of the mediterranean fruit fly ceratitis capitata early embryos
The agricultural pest Ceratitis capitata, also known as the Mediterranean fruit fly or Medfly, belongs to the Tephritidae family, which includes a large number of other damaging pest species. The Medfly has been the first non-drosophilid fly species which has been genetically transformed paving the way for designing geneticbased pest control strategies. Furthermore, it is an experimentally tractable model, in which transient and transgene-mediated RNAi have been successfully used. We applied Illumina sequencing to total RNA preparations of 8-10 hours old embryos of C. capitata, This developmental window corresponds to the blastoderm cellularization stage. In summary, we assembled 42,614 transcripts which cluster in 26,319 unique transcripts of which 11,045 correspond to protein coding genes; we identified several hundreds of long ncRNAs; we found an enrichment of transcripts encoding RNA binding proteins among the highly expressed transcripts, such as CcTRA-2, known to be necessary to establish and, most likely, to maintain female sex of C. capitata. Our study is the first de novo assembly performed for Ceratitis capitata based on Illumina NGS technology during embryogenesis and it adds novel data to the previously published C. capitata EST databases. We expect that it will be useful for a variety of applications such as gene cloning and phylogenetic analyses, as well as to advance genetic research and biotechnological applications in the Medfly and other related Tephritidae
