Is Rowan University\u27s Alcohol and Other Drugs Policy effective at deterring students from possessing or using drugs and drug paraphernalia?
The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate Rowan University\u27s current Alcohol and Other Drugs Policy. Two surveys were distributed; one via email to all current Rowan University students and the other via email to all students found in violation of the drug policy between 2005 and 2011. Three hypotheses were examined. The first was that students generally do not know about the policy and its possible sanctions. The second hypothesis was that the potential sanctions of the drug policy do not deter the general student population. The third hypothesis was that the imposed sanctions help to prevent recidivism among offenders. Results showed that the first hypothesis was false; the general student body is aware of Rowan\u27s drug policy and its possible sanctions. The second hypothesis was not necessarily true or false; it was undetermined if the potential sanctions of the drug policy deterred the general student population. After surveying drug policy violators, the third hypothesis was also found to be false; the imposed sanctions of Rowan\u27s drug policy did not help to prevent recidivism among offenders. Recommendations for policy change and future research were given
Development and testing of a simplified building model for the study of soil-structure interaction due to tunnelling in soft ground
The essay is a palaeographical note on a number of manuscripts (X-XII century) contained in the library of the Archiginnasio at Bologna. These manuscripts largely preserve Christian texts; a noteworthy exception is constituted by two volumes of Euclid's Elements

A differential algebra based importance sampling method for impact probability computation on Earth resonant returns of Near Earth Objects
A differential algebra based importance sampling method for uncertainty
propagation and impact probability computation on the first resonant returns of
Near Earth Objects is presented in this paper. Starting from the results of an
orbit determination process, we use a differential algebra based automatic
domain pruning to estimate resonances and automatically propagate in time the
regions of the initial uncertainty set that include the resonant return of
interest. The result is a list of polynomial state vectors, each mapping
specific regions of the uncertainty set from the observation epoch to the
resonant return. Then, we employ a Monte Carlo importance sampling technique on
the generated subsets for impact probability computation. We assess the
performance of the proposed approach on the case of asteroid (99942) Apophis. A
sensitivity analysis on the main parameters of the technique is carried out,
providing guidelines for their selection. We finally compare the results of the
proposed method to standard and advanced orbital sampling techniques
Effects of Pretreatment with Clozapine On Spatial Memory of Rats with Lesioned Dorsal Hippocampi
The atypical antipsychotic clozapine improves spatial memory in rats with partial hippocampal lesions. However, the effectiveness of treatment with clozapine before brain injury is unknown. To assess the possibility that chronic pretreatment with clozapine might preserve spatial memory after a hippocampal lesion, we injected rats with either saline or clozapine for one month prior to partial hippocampal lesioning and then assessed spatial learning. Our initial results suggest that pretreatment with clozapine might minimize spatial memory deficits following partial hippocampal lesions. This finding has implications for the prevention and treatment of spatial memory deficits

Class A prediction of mechanised tunnelling in Rome
Contract T3 of Line C of Rome underground, currently under construction, crosses the archaeological area of the historical centre, with significant interferences with the existing monumental built environment. A fully instrumented green field control section was established at the beginning of this contract, in representative ground conditions. This paper presents a thorough Class A prediction of the passage of the tunnels through the control section, obtained using a recently developed advanced numerical procedure. The ground was modelled with a non-linear constitutive law, calibrated with all the available data from the geotechnical investigation. The main physical processes occurring around the shield, including cutter-head overcut, shield tapering and tail void grouting were modelled in detail. The numerical results agree qualitatively with the findings from well documented case histories and results from physical models. The installed instrumentation will provide an opportunity to test the ability of the adopted procedure to reproduce quantitatively the measured performance, once the tunnels will cross the control sections and the field data will become available
