Incidência do uso de telas em meninas e meninos menores de 2 anos
There is no consensus about the consequences of early exposure to digital media on children’s health and wellness, but some researchers warn about the need for adult supervision to screen out content and set up exposure rules. Babies need to explore the environment to develop new cognitive, sensory and language skills. Since our capacity to adapt swiftly to a changing environment develops as we grow up, early disturbance in the development of executive function may cause short-, mid-, and long-term consequences. Misuse of ICT has a negative impact on brain neuroplasticity, which will eventually lead to low self-esteem, poor cognitive performance or maladaptive behaviour, depending on age and related skills. It might also affect sight, sleep, weight, development, executive function and behaviour. Adults’ commitment to responsible use of technology tools is essential to ensure the optimal development of children born and raised in digital times.
Today there are diverse family structures and dynamics. Communication and affect are key factors on emotional and behavioural regulation in order to develop a healthy personality. The technological revolution has had an undeniable influence on communication. Mobile phones have the highest incidence on family dynamics, and even though they offer many advantages, they are also most commonly associated with maladaptive use. Family relationships are mediated by the use of mobile phones. A higher level of technoference is associated with a higher level of intrafamily conflict, which has a strong impact on socio-psycho-physical health, leading to pathologies such as: addiction, nomophobia, phantom vibration syndrome, FoMo, and phubbing. Current pathologies of civilisation are characterised by a sense of hyper-expression and over-excitement which eventually become pathologies of the void. It is concluded that encouraging healthy mobile phone use habits would improve communication and prevent technological interference from damaging the quality of life.Atualmente, as famílias possuem diferentes modalidades de constituição e dinâmica. Surgical management of retroperitoneal hydatid cysts - results on a group of six patients
Objectives. Hydatid disease is a potentially lethal parasitic condition caused by the larvae of Echinococcus Granulosus; it is found in humans and more commonly in domestic and wild animals in endemic areas. This pathology is frequently encountered in the liver, the hydatid cyst with retroperitoneal location representing a rarely encountered form of evolution. Materials and Methods. In the present paper, we present a study carried out on 6 patients hospitalized in the Surgery Department of the Craiova County Emergency Clinical Hospital. These patients were diagnosed between 2002-2022 with retroperitoneal hydatid cyst or with multiple cysts (including retroperitoneal), being operated and monitored postoperatively at a distance. Results. The diagnosis was generally established by clinical examination, laboratory investigations and CT imaging, while the MRI evaluation was performed only in two of the cases, in order to provide additional data necessary for the surgeon. Conclusions. The difficulty of surgical interventions was determined by the size and local/multilocular extension of the disease; in the case of one patient, a double approach, abdominal and thigh, was necessary

Hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents as extraction agents of nitrophenolic pollutants from aqueous systems
Financiado para publicación en acceso aberto: Universidade de Vigo/CISUGNitrophenolic compounds are hazardous substances, listed as priority pollutants by World Health Organization, due to their toxicity on both the environment and human health. They are used in agriculture as insecticides and fungicides substances, and they can contaminate water reserves by filtering through the soil into groundwater. Therefore, these substances must be removed from agricultural wastewater before being discharged. In this work, several Deep Eutectic Solvents, based on menthol, thymol and organic acid, are used as separation agents in liquid–liquid extraction to remove 2-nitrophenol and 4-nitrophenol from water. The optimal extraction conditions were
studied and the better extraction yields were obtained using: (1:1) VDES:VW ratio and 30 min of stirring time. All extraction experiments were carried out at 298.15 K and 30 min of centrifugation time at 6000 rpm. As the results show, these deep eutectic solvents based on menthol can be used to extract both nitrophenolic compounds, while
those based on thymol can only be applied for the removal of 4-nitrophenol. All studied solvents present high extraction efficiencies, over to 90%, assuring their capability as extraction agents in aqueous systems.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad | Ref. Congo red recovery from water using green extraction solvents
Financiado para publicación en acceso aberto: Universidade de Vigo/CISUGDyes are pollutants widely used in several industries that end up dumped as wastewater, contributing to water pollution. In the scope of improving water quality, liquid-liquid extraction is a separation technique widely used to remove pollutants from water, due to the possibility of recovering all the involved agents. In this work, deep eutectic solvents (DESs) based on mixtures of thymol with menthol, coumarin, octanoic acid and decanoic acid were applied as extraction
agents to remove congo red from water. Among all the studied solvents, those formed by thymol with organic acids showed extraction efficiencies higher than 90% for low initial concentrations
of congo red, using 1/5 (v/v) DES/water proportion and 1 h of stirring time as extraction parameters. The best results were achieved using Thymol:Octanoic acid (1:1) solvent. Furthermore, at the end of the process each reagent can be reused. DES reusability was checked for three extraction cycles, keeping stable.Agencia Estatal de Investigación | Ref.
