The Penn Haptic Texture Toolkit for Modeling, Rendering, and Evaluating Haptic Virtual Textures

The Penn Haptic Texture Toolkit (HaTT) is a collection of 100 haptic texture and friction models, the recorded data from which the models were made, images of the textures, and the code and methods necessary to render these textures using an impedance-type haptic device such as a SensAble Phantom Omni. This toolkit was developed to provide haptics researchers with a method by which to compare and validate their texture modeling and rendering methods. The included rendering code has the additional benefit of allowing others, both researchers and designers, to incorporate our textures into their virtual environments, which will lead to a richer experience for the user

The influence of short-term high-temperature hardening (42 ºС, 1 min) of wheat plantlets on the activity and the thermostability of catalase and peroxidase has been studied. Hardening caused an increase of the activity and the thermostability of both enzymes. The pretreatments of plantlets with the inhibitor of protein biosynthesis, cycloheximide, or with the antioxidant, ionol, substantially levelled the stated changes. The conclusion about the role of the reactive oxygen species as signal intermediates and the induced protein biosynthesis in changes of the activity and the thermostability of antioxidative enzymes of plantlets after the heat hardening has been made

The dynamics of cell division in some local potato varieties cultivated in vitro on micropropagation medium

This study was performed to reveal the changes in cell division, as a result of the prolonged period of subculture on micropropagation medium, of five local varieties of Solanum tuberosum L. maintained on in vitro collection at Suceava Genebank, Romania. For this purpose it was used the Murashige-Skoog medium (MS- 1962) with addition of 40 g/l sucrose, and 6 mg/l daminozide. The effect of prolonged period of subculture up to two and 12 months was expressed as mitotic index and frequency of cells with abnormal division. Mitotic index ranged from 20.1 to 22.1% after 12 days, between 15.5 - 17.7% after two months and between 17.7 - 19.2% after 12 months of subculture. The results obtained showed that the frequency of aberrant cells increased with the preservation time on the in vitro cultures and their accumulation rate depended on the genotype. Were identified interphases with micronuclei, metaphases with retarded chromosomes, ana-telophases with chromosomal bridges, retarded chromosomes and chromosomal fragments, but their percentage was low in all the genotypes

Evaluación de la competencia motriz en los ámbitos de desarrollo personal y de la productividad de los escolares del municipio de Neiva

In this document the results of the evaluation of Motor Competence in students of the municipality of Neiva are presented, which was made from the application of a battery of tests on physical coordination skills. The evaluation referred to the capabilities of combination and coupling, differentiation, static and dynamic equilibrium, motor reaction and rhythmization. For each one of them tests were applied, which were structured by the research group Action Motriz. From each coordinating capacity a conceptual reference is established with some examples for easy understanding. The results obtained are shown in reference tables that constitute the behavior of the students evaluated. These reference tables will help teachers to periodically apply the tests and compare the results of their students with a benchmark at the municipal levelEn este documento se dan a conocer los resultados de la evaluación de la Competencia Motriz en escolares del municipio de Neiva, la cual se realizó a partir de la aplicación de una batería de pruebas sobre capacidades físicas coordinativas. La evaluación hizo referencia a las capacidades de combinación y acoplamiento, de diferenciación, de equilibrio estático y dinámico, de reacción motriz y de ritmización. Para cada una de ellas se aplicaron pruebas, las cuales fueron estructuradas por el grupo de investigación Acción Motriz. De cada capacidad coordinativa se establece un referente conceptual con algunos ejemplos para su fácil comprensión. Los resultados obtenidos se muestran en tablas de referencia que constituyen el comportamiento de los escolares evaluados. Estas tablas de referencia servirán a los docentes para que aplique periódicamente las pruebas y compare el resultado de sus escolares con un referente a nivel municipal. Proceso administrativo en la Sección de Emergencia Motorizada Halcones de la Policía Nacional del Perú, Arequipa, 2018

Este trabajo objeto de estudio, fue realizado en la Sección de Emergencia Motorizada Halcones Arequipa, perteneciente a la Policía, sección policial que se encuentra al servicio de la sociedad Arequipeña, cuyo fin principal es el servicio de seguridad, prevención e intervenciones rápidas en casos de alteración del orden interno, delitos y/o faltas así como aquellas contravenciones que vayan en desmedro del orden público, es por tal motivo que en el afán de expandir conocimientos se ha propuesto analizar el proceso administrativo que se desarrolla dentro de esta sección, con el objeto de describir el nivel de desarrollo que se ejecuta en los procedimientos administrativos dentro del ámbito del planeamiento, la organización, la dirección y el control, con el fin de conocer el nivel de desarrollo de la metodología administrativa y su importancia en la operatividad y desenvolvimiento de sus funciones como sección policial. Durante el progreso del presente trabajo, se utilizó una variable basado en la método administrativo que aplica en la sección policial, y sus dimensiones como la planeación institucional, organización institucional, dirección institucional y el control institucional, así como indicadores identificación con la filosofía institucional, cumplimiento de metas, conocimiento del diseño organizacional, distribución del trabajo, efectividad de la comunicación, presencia de motivación, presencia de control preventivo y presencia de control correctivo; que en conjunto han permitido el desarrollo de un instrumento con la finalidad de obtener opiniones y resultados a nuestras interrogantes, llevando a cabo una serie de análisis, recabando información valiosa y llegando a determinar las actividades propias del proceso administrativo, la identificación y compromiso para con la institución y la sección policial por parte del personal que labora en esta, asimismo el presente trabajo de investigación servirá como aporte beneficioso para la Sección de Emergencia Motorizada Halcones Arequipa, sirviendo como antecedente para mejoras continuas a futuro.This work under study was done in The Arequipa Falcons Emergency Motorized Section, belonging to the Police, a police section that is at the service of society from Arequipa, whose main purpose is the service of security, prevention and fast interventions in cases of alteration of the internal order, crimes and / or faults as well as those breaches that are detrimental to public order, it is for this reason that is necessary to expand knowledge so it has been proposed to analyze the administrative process that is developed within this section, with the in order to describe the level of development that is executed in administrative procedures within the scope of planning, organization, management and control, in order to know the level of development of the administrative methodology and its importance in operability and development of its functions as a police section. Maintenance of Case Bases: Current Algorithms after Fifty Years

CBR is very different from model based systems since it can learn incrementally as new data is available, storing new cases in its casebase. This means that it can benefit from readily available new data, but also case-base maintenance (CBM) is essential to manage the cases, deleting and compacting the case-base. In the 50th anniversary of CNN (considered the first CBM algorithm), new CBM methods are proposed to deal with the new requirements of Big Data scenarios. In this paper, we present an accessible historic perspective of CBM and we classify and analyse the most recent approaches to deal with these requirements
