Unheard Sounds: A Manual for the Sonification of Emotional States in an Artistic Space

This paper explores the use of sonification technology within an artistic space, specifically a live musical performance setting. The current work should be thought of as a manual for performers, laying out the theoretical background for understanding the use of this technology as well as the technical components for successful incorporation. Most of the theoretical knowledge presented in this paper focuses on emotions and how they are understood to function. The technical and practical information is about different methods of measuring emotional states and the subsequent task of sonifying this information. While this may sound like a relatively new idea, the sonification of bio-signals has a history in music that began around the 1970’s, with the premiere of Alvin Lucier’s Music for Solo Performer. After presenting both historical examples and modern incarnations of this idea, the discussion explores the aesthetics of such works and their place within a postmodern music scene

Limiting efficiencies of GaAs solar cells

The limiting efficiencies of GaAs solar cells when used under concentrated sunlight are calculated. The benefits to be expected from applying techniques which restrict the angle of acceptance of the cell are determined. It is concluded that when the acceptance angle is restricted the emission of the luminescent photons and therefore the associated current loss are reduced. A limiting efficiency close to 39% results for concentration ratios of about 1000 suns AM1.5 direct. For lower concentration ratios, the limiting efficiency decreases if Auger recombination is also taken into accoun

66 p.El presenta trabajo aborda un tema contingente, como es las pruebas de ADN en el curso de una investigación criminal y la creación del Sistema Nacional de Registros de ADN, normativa que promete ser un aporte revolucionario en materia de investigación. Quizás el tema mas importante relacionado con la materia, es el que es estudiado en el primer capitulo, es decir, los problemas de constitucionalidad que presenta esta pericia. En el segundo capitulo se estudian los principios que permiten, pese a la vulneración constitucional, considerar como legitimas estas pruebas. Para finalmente proceder a analizar los puntos mas relevantes que contempla la recién creada ley sobre el sistema nacional de registros de ADN
