    Indices Converting Resignation and Drop-Offs of Business Students to Retention

    Each new generation brings a challenge to employers, university management and teachers with new attitudes affecting their continuous matriculation and degree completion. This article discusses how to retain both business and institutional career-oriented students using real-time communication based on their attitudes, emotions resulting from logically generated synonyms by automatic data evaluation by the information system. The objective of this article is to identify these students early in their academic studies and to assess their likelihood for continuous matriculation and ultimately increase retention rates. Using data from entry questionnaire during application at university, based on their attitudinal expectation, students were categorised into groups that affected their continuous matriculation. Data used in this study were gathered by compulsory entry questionnaire of 535 students in the academic year 2017-2018. Using statistical and dimensional analysis, four groups were identified among university applicants: Proactive, Reactive, Lazy and Institutional. Responses were tested according to Complementary Distribution Function (CDF) and normal distribution as Probabilistic Distribution Function (PDF). Antagonist attitudes were found for answers corresponding to PDF and CDF. Results indicate that business and institutionally oriented students should be separated and treated individually to increase retention

    First Search for Exclusive Diphoton Production at High Mass with Tagged Protons in Proton-Proton Collisions at √s=13 TeV

    A search for exclusive two-photon production via photon exchange in proton-proton collisions, pp→pγγp with intact protons, is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 9.4 fb−1 collected in 2016 using the CMS and TOTEM detectors at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV at the LHC. Events are selected with a diphoton invariant mass above 350 GeV and with both protons intact in the final state, to reduce backgrounds from strong interactions. The events of interest are those where the invariant mass and rapidity calculated from the momentum losses of the forward-moving protons match the mass and rapidity of the central, two-photon system. No events are found that satisfy this condition. Interpreting this result in an effective dimension-8 extension of the standard model, the first limits are set on the two anomalous four-photon coupling parameters. If the other parameter is constrained to its standard model value, the limits at 95% confidence level are |ζ1|<2.9×10−13 GeV−4 and |ζ2|<6.0×10−13 GeV−4

    Measurement of single-diffractive dijet production in proton–proton collisions at √ s = 8 TeV with the CMS and TOTEM experiments

    Measurements are presented of the single-diffractive dijet cross section and the diffractive cross section as a function of the proton fractional momentum loss ξ and the four-momentum transfer squared t. Both processes p p → p X and p p → X p , i.e. with the proton scattering to either side of the interaction point, are measured, where X includes at least two jets; the results of the two processes are averaged. The analyses are based on data collected simultaneously with the CMS and TOTEM detectors at the LHC in proton–proton collisions at s√=8TeV during a dedicated run with β∗=90m at low instantaneous luminosity and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 37.5nb−1. The single-diffractive dijet cross section σ p X jj, in the kinematic region ξ40GeV, and pseudorapidity |η|<4.4, is 21.7±0.9(stat)+3.0−3.3(syst)±0.9(lumi)nb. The ratio of the single-diffractive to inclusive dijet yields, normalised per unit of ξ, is presented as a function of x, the longitudinal momentum fraction of the proton carried by the struck parton. The ratio in the kinematic region defined above, for x values in the range −2.9≤log10x≤−1.6, is R=(σ p X jj/Δξ)/σjj=0.025±0.001(stat)±0.003(syst), where σ p X jj and σjj are the single-diffractive and inclusive dijet cross sections, respectively. The results are compared with predictions from models of diffractive and nondiffractive interactions. Monte Carlo predictions based on the HERA diffractive parton distribution functions agree well with the data when corrected for the effect of soft rescattering between the spectator partons

    Odderon Exchange from Elastic Scattering Differences between pp and p¯p Data at 1.96 TeV and from pp Forward Scattering Measurements

    We describe an analysis comparing the p¯p elastic cross section as measured by the D0 Collaboration at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV to that in pp collisions as measured by the TOTEM Collaboration at 2.76, 7, 8, and 13 TeV using a model-independent approach. The TOTEM cross sections, extrapolated to a center-of-mass energy of √s=1.96 TeV, are compared with the D0 measurement in the region of the diffractive minimum and the second maximum of the pp cross section. The two data sets disagree at the 3.4σ level and thus provide evidence for the t-channel exchange of a colorless, C-odd gluonic compound, also known as the odderon. We combine these results with a TOTEM analysis of the same C-odd exchange based on the total cross section and the ratio of the real to imaginary parts of the forward elastic strong interaction scattering amplitude in pp scattering for which the significance is between 3.4σ and 4.6σ. The combined significance is larger than 5σ and is interpreted as the first observation of the exchange of a colorless, C-odd gluonic compound

Theoretical part is focusing on well-known eating disorders and relatively new concept of orthorexia within the context of elite sports environment. Quantitative methodology used in our research unfolds the relationship between disordered eating and sport. Main objective is to verify the potential differences between athletes and non-athletes or amongst various athletic classifications. The research sample consisted of 373 Czech high profile athletes and 240 non-athletes. In Czechia, no studies on this topic have been published so far. Therefore, this paper tries to offer some perspective

    CSR actions are often controversial due to either the excessive voluntary or narrow standardized approach. The objective of this article is to find indices, which homogenize CSR campaigns of corporations according to specific attitudes and behaviour of individuals. Cluster analysis has significantly differentiated CSR volunteering contributors from non-volunteering critics. A small cluster of non-volunteering respondents calls for support of kids, criminals and addicts. Volunteering clusters are composed of employed respondents who are predominantly calling for equality and environment according to their work and leisure interest. The technology volunteering from the previous year disappeared from the list of CSR of respondents as it was aggregated either to other priority or finished and forgotten due to interests in a new project. Results demonstrate that responsibility is not related only to people in need but calls for simplification of complex public, corporate and human relationships to focus on its development

    Hard color-singlet exchange in dijet events in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV

    Events where the two leading jets are separated by a pseudorapidity interval devoid of particle activity, known as jet-gap-jet events, are studied in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV. The signature is expected from hard color-singlet exchange. Each of the highest transverse momentum (pT) jets must have pjetT>40 GeV and pseudorapidity 1.40.2 GeV in the interval |η|<1 between the jets are observed in excess of calculations that assume only color-exchange. The fraction of events produced via color-singlet exchange, fCSE, is measured as a function of pjet2T, the pseudorapidity difference between the two leading jets, and the azimuthal angular separation between the two leading jets. The fraction fCSE has values of 0.4–1.0%. The results are compared with previous measurements and with predictions from perturbative quantum chromodynamics. In addition, the first study of jet-gap-jet events detected in association with an intact proton using a subsample of events with an integrated luminosity of 0.40 pb−1 is presented. The intact protons are detected with the Roman pot detectors of the TOTEM experiment. The fCSE in this sample is 2.91±0.70(stat)+1.08−1.01(syst) times larger than that for inclusive dijet production in dijets with similar kinematics

    In-orbit commissioning of Czech nanosatellite VZLUSAT-1 for the QB50 mission with a demonstrator of a miniaturised lobster-eye X-ray telescope and radiation shielding composite materials

    This paper presents the results of in-orbit commissioning of the first Czech technological CubeSat satellite of VZLUSAT-1. The 2U nanosatellite was designed and built during the 2013 to 2016 period. It was successfully launched into Low Earth Orbit of 505km altitude on June 23, 2017 as part of international mission QB50 onboard a PSLV C38 launch vehicle. The satellite was developed in the Czech Republic by the Czech Aerospace Research Centre, in cooperation with Czech industrial partners and universities. The nanosatellite has three main payloads. The housing is made of a composite material which serves as a structural and radiation shielding material. Anovel miniaturized X-Ray telescope with lobster-eye optics and an embedded Timepix detector represents the CubeSat's scientific payload. The telescope has a wide field of view. VZLUSAT-1 also carries the FIPEX scientific instrument as part of the QB50 mission for measuring the molecular and atomic oxygen concentration in the upper atmosphere
